If my car is home, I might as well have it delivered to my house. I work where you need an ID to get into the parking lot, so that's out. I'm usually not anywhere else long enough to get packages (has mental image of a delivery vehicle chasing my car down the highway).
Based on my experience with TW internet, and my mom's with TW cable, it would take a hell of a lot of suck to compete with them. Don't know about Comcast, but it sounds like they're no improvement over TW.
I read that before cities and their light pollution, it was possible to see Uranus with the naked eye. Which explains why our ancestors were so eager to build cities!
IIRC, latinum is one of the few materials that can't be replicated. Data (and Lore) are the only sentient machines. I assume they were part accident, and nobody has ever been able to create any more. As for the other questions, I don't know.
Maybe parts of the world have local scarcity. But in the US, the homeless are often in view of the middle-class or even the rich. That's not a lack of resources, just a lack of money for the individuals.
I do the same thing constantly, forgetting people's names despite the fact that I not only remember their faces, but their voices, past interactions I've had with them, and sometimes half their life story. You could chalk it up to my age, but I used to do the same thing in my 20's.
Me too! I remember when I was waiting for the bus, and a guy I went to college with walked by. I knew who he was, but was totally blanking on his name. We talked awhile, he left, and 5 minutes later, "Scott" popped into my head.
One more/.er mired in the past. Remember when Win95 had a max uptime of 14 days due to millisecond clock overflow? Good times; good times.
IE has been fine since 9 or so. Chrome is the one now saying "we're too big to need to follow standards". Same as the old boss, and their beards have all grown longer overnight.
I never heard of anyone who got 14 days uptime from Win95. I don't think I ever got 14 hours of uptime from it.
Back on-topic, IE certainly sucks less than than it used to, but it's still not as good as FF or even Chrome. I know several web devs who still pronounce it like a scream.
Sails got us from Europe to the New World, but they weren't much good from New York to California. Though we didn't use fossil fuels for that either then.
Weren't bitcoins worth about 10 bucks a year ago? If I had bought some then, I would have made some big profits. The question is, will they continue to go up, or will they crash and burn. If the former, one could still make big bucks.

You need to think longer term. I'm confident it will be warmer 4 months from now. Global Warming is real!

I've only had Google Fiber 3 weeks, but so far it's been solid. Maybe a 2-second hang here and there, but otherwise fine.

Once we get ST technology, we can just beam our shit into space, so we won't need toilet cleaners. Ditto for garbage, trash, and Justin Bieber.

For that matter, we got along pretty well with the Klingons when we had to fight the Dominion (DS9).

We Virgos are sceptical about such things.
Once while driving, a family of geese crossed the street ahead of me. When I honked at them, they just honked right back at me!
DC == Mos Eisley. "You'll never see a more wretched hive of scum and villainy".
Really? Last time I used it, admittedly a long time ago, about half my mail was spam. Sadly, that was still better than my ISP mail.
I'm pretty sure the spy drones are keeping tabs on them too. :-P

Shouldn't they rename themselves "OffStar"?

It's slightly better if their pet is "New York" and they grew up in "Fido".
And they ask questions that are totally meaningless to you (such as "Where did you meet your wife?" to the average slashdotter).
They'd do even worse at 0K!
How is the fossil record a lie? Does he think God planted false records to fool evolutionists?
Or even money into bitcoins.
Nah, it seems more like the stomach virus that causes me to lose my lunch.
