Indeed, very often the thing about good science is that what they discover may seem obvious in retrospect; in this case the notion that in social situations or warfare men treat enemies or strangers differently than friends and family is directly correlated to testosterone levels. Certainly the concept of social cooperation and distinctions are made between different groups of people is not new. However, coming up with data to show a cause for why this is so can be very useful, it can provide a model for making predictions, and can perhaps be applied to other areas of research. I think it's interesting that the video gamer's social interactions through the digital medium were just as 'real' to their bodies as it would have been to someone in a physical setting.
where is it written that you can't argue with God? People say it, but I recall in the book of Job, that he does in fact argue with God. Abraham bargains with God to save the city where Lot lives. Read your bible before you start pontificating. I'm just using the Bible as an example because I come from a Western, specifically evangelical Christian upbringing. Context matters to me, but it's other people that say you can't argue with God.
Sure, you can argue with God, but will that really work out? I rarely even win arguments with myself!
Good for the parents in at least taken this public, if there is one redeeming factor out of all of this.
The fact is, there is no FUZZY issue of guilt here - the fucking shit is clear as crystal - these adults were abusive towards a 13 yr old child w/ severe mental problems.
see what he means. Or watch a top tier Super Street Fighter II Turbo battle.
I mean, I had a friend playing Starcraft online back in the day. His opponent (from SK) kept building siege tanks outside of the sight range of his Protoss base. So my friend responded by building a bunch of turrets and going for some airborne tech.
Then the SK kid pulled a fast one, flying his Engineering Bay into the protoss base, revealing targets for the Siege tanks for quite awhile before it was destroyed. The turrets were decimated.
A bunch of other crazy shit happened and it was over in less than two minutes. But for a while it looked like literally nothing was happening.
their market share has been slowly, but consistently decreasing in several areas - especially in the web browser arena and to some extent in the computer arena, especially since Vista has been such a flop in the business world (tangent: Apple really needs to boost their OS soon - that was supposed to happen this year, right?).
As much as they may appear to be resisting change and attempting to maintain their position, every new innovation is affecting them and forcing Microsoft to adapt, if ever so slightly at times. They are losing key battles over document formats - ISO just rejected Microsoft's OOXML proposal, for example. Sort of like Planck's theory of observation affecting what is observed, Microsoft, by virtue of being in a market where it has to interact with customers and businesses with changing preferences and plans, is changing.
This case is not going to set any new precedent or change any laws. Sure, this lawsuit is not entirely frivolous - it will at least have the benefit of starkly clarifying what can and cannot be done with a photo just because it has a CC license. That doesn't change the fact that many lawyers are crazy, rent-seeking assholes who are ruining this country. People and businesses in this country are so afraid of getting sued because America has gone completely lawsuit crazy. LAWYERS GONE WILD - LIKE ROOFIES FOR COMMON SENSE!
We still use AppleWorks every day at our business. Apple was still supporting it with updates even fairly recently - to make it work with the Intel chips - I suspect we will continue to use it because it meets our needs and runs on OS X.
That young stuff is the best stuff in the whole world. See right now you're jail bait, they're jail bait. It's perfect. I mean, when you hit eighteen, bam! you're talking about three to five.
He voted against federal funding for it, not to ban the whole practice. On that matter, and on abortion in general, he believes it should be ultimately up to the states.
What's so bad about banning federal funding for failed social programs anyways, and please explain in plain English why it's bad to cut taxes and spending.
A smart man, but pompous, and does not know much outside his areas of expertise - writing, and military history and analysis. I would not call him an expert on copyright, though he may bloviate.
Perhaps this has been mentioned before, but there is a very simple online petition that you can participate in (yeah, I know, petitions don't work, but this actually sends letters to your reps). Spread it around. Tell your friends on MySpace, or Facebook, or what have you.
And to think, they had recently ensured no CCW holders could carry their weapons on campus: "Virginia Tech spokesman Larry Hincker was happy to hear the bill was defeated. "I'm sure the university community is appreciative of the General Assembly's actions because this will help parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus."
This is patently untrue. See 9/11/2001 for examples. This leads us to an interesting problem. Is Iran willing to nuke Israel through a terrorist proxy? If yes, goto Israel nuking Iran pre-emptively.
I've almost always convinced people I've helped with spyware and virus problems to just uninstall Symantec AV, as well as McAfee. They are resource hogs and not really very helpful in my experience. It's an easy sell given these people were running the "anti-virus" software before, during, and after they got infected.
They're better off with two or more good anti-spyware apps, a good firewall, Firefox as the primary browser (I've converted at least a dozen or more people to it), and updated Windows.
Symantec has noly been good for the odd virus removal tool executable (same for McAfee stinger), even their online scan is pretty limited.
I bet it won't be long before AMD starts showing up in more Dell Business computers and perhaps even home pcs. And now Google software. Very interesting.
I wouldn't be surprised if soon Google does something more with ISP, especially if the telecoms get their way on the net neutrality fight.

PROTIP: Africa != Finland
I think arming people with educations and good families are just as important as physical defense tools.
But yes, everyone should own tactical nuclear weapons.

Whenever I notice and point out a spelling error made in a place of business, I am generally just met with a cold stare.
But maybe that's just because I live in Dayton.

Replace 'barely computer literate' with 'barely literate' and you have a more accurate assessment.

I initially read that last bit as 'I'd settle for your mom tonight.' My mistake.

Let's set it up like the NCAA tournament Bracket, and give the prominent distros a 1 seed, and have them battle to the death!
IT'S A TRAP
was done as an entirely commercial venture. I wonder very much how much thought went into that part of the commentary for this story.
