As usual, Futurama knows all... (from episode 2ACV03)
Nixon: Computers may be twice as fast as
they were in 1973, but your average voter is as drunk and stupid as ever. The only one who's changed is me. I've become bitter - and, let's face it, crazy over the years, and once I'm swept into office I'll sell our children's organs to zoos and I'll go into people's houses at night and wreck up the place! [Laughs fiendishly]
What's with all the weird station names you have in the US anyway ? They all seem to be odd four letter things starting with K or W. Is there any logic behind it ?
From what I hear, stations that start with a W are east of the Mississippi River, while stations that start with a K are west of it. As for the other 3 letters, typically they are made up. For example, WBSH in the Illinois/Missouri area is in the Wabash Valley (sound out the station letters). Sometimes they make sense, sometimes they're just arbitrary.
It's not like he's going to change his mind on Darth Vader being Luke's father.

And architects don't go crazy when a CAD program goes gold.
I see that you've never met my boss. He told one of the CAD guys today to go and download the demo for a product that was only first announced last month.
This is great news! I just today... today... bought a Gamecube and Super Smash Bros Melee. I just can't put it down. In fact, the only reason I'm on/. right now is because I have to eat dinner.
I haven't decided on Zelda yet, but from the looks of things Mario and Metroid are must-haves.
Now, somebody see about getting Bowser his own game.
From what I've read Carter is planning another X-Files movie, but it will be a stand-alone film plotwise (like a monster-of-the-week episode) and won't have anything to do with the Mythology.
Well, in all seriousness, now that it's all over - who's truth was out there? Did we learn anything new at all? Granted, I liked the extensive recap they gave us in the first hour. It refreshed my memory and got me caught up on a few things that I missed. The in the second hour we got a big chase and in the end nothing happened. What happened to Doggett and Reyes? Skinner? The rest of our players?
I guess what I'm getting at is: WHAT WAS THE POINT?!?
Chris Carter mentions something in TV Guide about a lot of characters "coming back" for Mulder's trial, which is the plot of the last episode
I heard about this one. Apparently Mulder is put on trial for breaking the Good Samaritan law after watching an overweight man get mugged and not acting to help. A lot of characters from past episodes show up in court to testify against him as character witnesses.
I took a half-day on Friday and hit the 12:40 matinee. Smartest thing I've ever done when it comes to seeing a movie at the theater. It was early enough in the day to not have to deal with the overly hardcore Star Warshippers and admission only cost $4.
At work we tried to talk the Boss into making Friday afternoon a team-wide AotC event, but he rambled about "that rubbish" and ranted on and on about how the last good sci-fi movie was 2001: A Space Odyssey.
With the office trip option not going to happen, I got to work early on Friday, finished my projects for the day, skipped lunch, and was out the door by 12:15.
So, um, can we maybe pretend there's a competitive nation and get on with it?!
And in other news, the president announced today that members of Al Qaeda have been spotted on Mars. "We're going to find them and smoke them out of their canals," the president said.
We regret to announce that Microsoft Brakes 1.0 has a minor flaw which, under certain circumstances, will cause the car to accelerate instead of slow down. We advise all users to install the Brakes 1.1 patch to remedy this situation.
In order to best answer this I'll need to see all your private data. Send it over and I'll look it over and let you know what I think is best.
[Note: the preceeding is a joke and not to be taken seriously. In this day and age of lawsuits, one can't be too careful about gags such as this.]

Everyone loves a good conspiracy, but I thought the .cc domain was from the Cocos Islands (unless Clear Channel owns their own island chain, too).
http://www.colchis.com/domain.htm has the info on that.

Oops, my mistake...

Lousy cybersquatters...
Well, I eat while reading the news and articles from the day. I'm a major multitasker.

It depends on how much money the next movie makes, I'd imagine.

So, anyone got plans for December 22, 2012?

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
And, if possible, I'll do it again in 2005.
And in other news, the president announced today that members of Al Qaeda have been spotted on Mars. "We're going to find them and smoke them out of their canals," the president said.
For God sakes, man, don't use the e-word! Have you no sense of decency?!? Won't somebody please think of the children?!

Thank you for using Microsoft Brakes!
Thanks! I appreciate the help!
Where is this option? Care to enlighten a fellow /.er? Thanks!
Hmm, it sounds like the DOE hired the Klingons to come up with the signs for this project.
And we can use a P2P network to share our thoughts and make our own little Collective.
Dude, it's the weekend. Who works on the weekend?
But come Monday morning it's back to business as usual.
