Well, there are always options: Battery replacement
What's a better deal for you? Some might see a brand new unit (with warranty) a good deal for $100. Some might see extending the life of an old friend for $40 a better one.
I know a lot of people who are just as attached to their iPod as they are to their TiVo. Is your old iPod worth the $100? If you are a person with the original 5 gig iPod, or a dead battery iPod, you may jump. But then there are also other alternatives. Replacing the battery can cost you any where from $50 to $100. But is the price of switching worth the cost?? For a Windows user, possibly, for a Mac user, probably not. I for one am keeping my iPod.
It's kinda like AppleTalk, but without being all talky and chatty. Great for LAN and other network devices, namely printers for now. Especially in an less techy envronment, like a school or administrators. Vendors like HP and Xerox have already adopted the standard, so It should be easy adding their printers to your computer, and from what I understand, it can also send the appropriate drivers to yout computer to use it.
I will wait for the HD-DVD format to come about. There are just too many people arguing over the next standard, and until it becomes a standard, I will wait. This is my standard response.
The gross weight of this thing is nearly 40 pounds. But did you realise that it's a 23" monitor with a 200ish ppi resoution. So it's not the biggest, just the highest resolution. Still very cool, but not my bag of chips. And for $6000, i could almost get 20 new Apple 30" Oh to dream... oh to be a viking...
They used to charge, but not anymore. I remember when they stopped, but I totally forgot they they donated the moniker to IEEE 1394. (I can't find when they gave it to IEEE)
Apple was a major developer in IEEE 1394, and chose it's integration. USB had been around for a while, but Apple's integration and dropping of legacy equipment help jump up USB and then FireWire adoption.
Apple's mistake, I think, is by charging to license the name and symbol of FireWire, hence Sony's iLink and others just calling it IEEE 1394.
Well, the card is more likely spec'd for the G5, but as you can see, it's very similar to the newly announced NVIDIA cards for the rest of the people.
GeFroce 6800. Similar price too...
Well, look at it this way, if that is just 1 complaint from 1 number, that is just 0.69% violation. Which for a new law, I think is pretty good. But it is no excuse for these big companies like AT&T.
Yeah... I actually did. They have a manager that's a big Mac guy, he's trained his minions (well a good amount of them) and they have a good full time Apple rep there, whom used to be a retail rep at the store.
The local Mac store, have a bunch of pretentious butt heads, with jacked up prices (except for the actual Apple stuff which they have to price at Apple's MSRP). And pretty much disseminate bad info and turn people away with their holier than thou attitude. Welcome to my Mac Store. Bow Down! Now I will tell you what you will buy today, and if you don't buy it, you are a friggin idiot. All Praise Me!
Since there is no Apple Store in Alaska, I did have to go to the local Mac shop to get a new Yo-Yo since mine died. Since they have a 1 year warranty from date of purchase, i called Apple, they faxed me my proof of purchase, and I went to the shop, and got me a new one for free (3 day longer and It would have cost me something).
Apple vendors don't make much money from doing warranty repairs, especially if they are sent to Apple for the fixing.
As for finding where the closest Apple shop that's easy, Store Locator. Support your local Mac shop, unless they are a bunch of egotistical idiots, then go to the most knowledgeable shop near you. (In my case, surprisingly enough, CompUSA)
Hell, the 1 and 1/4 F1 engines they have on display at the Smithsonian are freakin huge (the use of mirrors complete the remaing 3 and 3/4s and it's still spectacular)
I applaud your de-modding for helping with this topic. Good links, and insight.
Unfortunatly, the release is kinda vague, and I wonder if it will be double streaming, if you are connected to shared library and tell it play from your wireless laptop, or if it is smart enough to make it a one hop wireless transfer.

2 words for all those who still are trying to record movies in the theatre... flash bang
Better make it Shenanigansboy
I likes the Car & Driver and Road & Track Newsweek & Archies' Double Digest.

And I will let everyone know when I can find $300 Apple 30's (After I get my 20 of course)

And less moving parts, means less heat, less burned legs, and less chance of the cell exploding on your lap.

Hmmm... You could bring your recipes on you laptop, flip it over and cook... But you better bring extra batteries for extra meals and heat
As long as they don't put out 2.5x the heat, that would be great. A better battery to allow better componentry would be fantastic.

What? Put LOX in the Empire State Building... That would be horrible...
Very Slick! Wish it wasn't rainy up here in Alaska. You should patent your design, but becareful of double clicking...

Super Duper and Carbon Copy Cloner are 2 great little apps for backup and such.
