Except, I can read a book. And the book is generally hardcover and weighs a few hundred times as much as my cell phone. And the book is probably even more distracting than a cell phone. So they should ban books during the same times.
I think the parent was talking about the fact that marriage means nothing to so many people, whereas people would stay together through anything, cheating, abuse, etc. Marriage meant more back then to most people, even if it meant some people stayed in abusive relationships.
Why would you want to marry someone if you dont trust them to misuse the ability to open your mail? I expect my wife to open my mail if it's something that concerns her. If it doesn't, but she thought it did, oh well. Unless I plan to divorce her I have no secrets from her.
No, it's not that they pay taxes. It's that they contribute to a politician's election campaign. That's so they can get the politician to give them lots of tax breaks. Politicians don't care if anyone pays taxes except their enemies.
Haven't you seen that they're rebuilding all their standard stores into Super Wal-Marts? Been happening all around here for years. Most are now twice the size of the original, or more.
They delivered two to my house just last week. We moved in in August, and the previous owners had phone service shut off back in January, so nobody has paid for the phone service to this address in almost a year. Still get the book.
This is possible in many places in the US. I can "borrow" ebooks from multiple libraries in the area, some of them expiring on a certain date, not sure if there's any other scheme. This works with my nook, as well as the Sony readers, and others like those Borders sells. I don't believe they work with the Kindle, but the Kindle 3 might change that from what I read.
I actually did a study on this in high school. I lived just north of Chicago at the time. Average temperatures between October and March are colder in many parts of the midwest than in Alaska. One article I found said this is because of the ocean keeping the land warm, since people live mostly near the shore in AK. And Anchorage is right on the water.
I know I had my fuel lines freeze completely solid in I think 04, when it was 15 below at noon for over a week.
Honestly, you're going to have an easier time finding diesel in rural towns and near highways. I live in a fairly big metropolitan area, and if you get close enough to the beach, there's no diesel for miles. About 1/3rd of stations here have it. But go down the highway outside the metro area and almost every station has diesel.
It's a bad thing when it's not under control. Every place I have lived in FL, IL, and WI has had citywide bans on grills on balconies. I have used grills on all balconies. This is because I know how to be safe with fire and a grill.
The laws are because stupid people do stupid things that ruin it for the rest of us.
I have a degree, and I had plenty of experience before the degree. Now, neither helped me get an IT job. For that I had to get certifications, plus the experience, plus the degree. Missing any one of those, I wouldn't have the nice job I have now.

I clicked on the parent's link, and, for once, I am glad we have a filter here at work...

I don't know how it works in the UK, of course.

In cities on FL, less than 1/3rd of all stations sell diesel. So you can find it, but not very easily.
Go out to rural FL, and it's much more common.
how does a 65W TDP part use more power than a 115W TDP part? I know those are absolute top end power values, but this still makes no sense.
It's obviously a seahorse! what's wrong with you people?
In the US, when they become a terrorist.
Best comment I've read in a long time, but no mod points.
Too many people in this country want to have their cake and eat it too (whatever that saying means).

4) I personally know people who have gone to china and not come back alive because of traffic accidents.
I think you knew them if they didn't come back.
Why would they know? Pope, king, completely different concepts! /sarcasm

So he pays $900 per semester now and pays $80,000 over the next 40-60 years of his life in taxes.
In the US, you get student loans for say $60,000, then you pay interest on that over the years, meaning you end up paying well over $100,000.
You're right, it's roughly equal.
The onboard video they chose can do HD video no problem. Flash it may have an issue with, but then again, so will some high-end graphics cards.
The Radeon 1250 in the $192 DIY can run 1080P with no problem, unless you mean 3D.
Because lawyers rule this country. Have you noticed how hard it is for a politician to make it if he or she doesn't have a law degree?
Why did you buy an iPhone if you hate it? Those are the exact reasons I would never buy one, and will likely get a Nexus One when I have the money.
Wouldn't you like a space elevator? I would think sparkling wine would be better than sparking...
