The key word I'm seeing is "expense".
I used to fund a videogame obsession on a relative pittance back in the day, but the next generation will need a full-on salary to keep up with Sony:(
Mind you, even that starts to look reasonable when I see teens carrying iPhones everywhere!
It shows how far the US has gone that attempting to dial back from insane working hours and illegal hourly rates might be seen as socialism!
I guess those ingrates will be asking for 'weekends' next!
Which people would abandon Windows?
I can't think of many interesting Linux projects that didn't turn into a couple of nights spent on forums and tutorials for me! That's not something most people want to deal with!
It blows my mind at how many subscriptions we 'need' nowadays for some semblance of a social life!
In the UK you don't get any sport for example unless you pay, and then each sport may be carved up between multiple providers, meaning a subscription for each.
I realise these are all classed as luxury items but try telling that to teens with mates to hang out with.
Can just imagine NASA receiving a call from Bangalore after the ISS gets hit...
'hello, we understand you have been in an accident that was not your fault?'
Article makes it sound like Humans have ethics all worked out.... hilarious!
How about when robots start asking about CEO pay, outsourcing, leveraged buyouts, wiretapping, alcohol legality etc etc etc!
Just one question... who would pay for the research? There aren't many big players and this thing would take years.
Plus, how do you prove safety?
Safer than not smoking? Obviously not. But better than the alternative, which is carrying on that 20 a day habit
Using examples of carpenter though, it would be like a carpenter spending hours to make a chest of drawers open more neatly.
Most tradesmen I know set a level of quality that is dependent on price though - mostly because the tech and materials are well known. You won't ever need complicated workarounds when making a chair or even a house, you follow established procedures.... unlike coders!
The irony of someone complaining that any company should be as powerful as their beloved Apple!
Both companies have produced amazing products, with a price tag to match.
I muddle by with Gimp but it's just so unsatisfying - a click to apply a filter or change a value and then a short wait to see the results... PS applies the filter and let's you adjust the values with instant feedback (Gmic as an example). Seeing PS intelligently remove objects in a photo is an absolute revelation!
Nearly every word in that article pissed me off, and I'm not even a console owner!
Seriously, who are they making games for that can download a 'patch' that size?
Is anything worth that hassle?
Have they even heard of QA?
Paris has enough of a problem integrating immigrants - maybe they just want to put up gates around the entire centre?
On the other hand, this is a clickbait article in the first place as nobody but a few residents has proposed this idea.
Can't wait for a snazzy new calculator to come out... !
Come on MS, pretty much every programming course teaches you to make a calculator within the first few weeks!
I haven't jumped onto this gen and probably won't bother. Dropping the console price by a few quid is unimportant when each game costs £50 - that is not pocket change! Oh, that and the fact that I used to like EA's output but not since they turned into a corporate monster.
I worked at a company where they had a full-time job to monitor stationery.
How many pens and envelopes would people need to steal to exceed the cost of a dedicated member of staff?!!
And spectrum is quite an apt word when discussing these comments on a public message board.
For technical videos though, like coding, comments are frequently useful.
For tech/gadget reviews - also useful.
Game review comments - getting less useful. Would be useful to have an aggregate score rather than hundreds of inane comments.
Comedy clip comments - the worst! It's ironic that some of the most excruciatingly unfunny comments should follow a comedy clip but there you go.

My wife is almost offended when she sees me using XFCE rather than Win 10 on my laptop. But but but the speeeeeed!
When lazy Westerners don't want to work 80 hour weeks, their jobs are going to be snapped up by willing Chinese or Indians. Race to the bottom :(
Seriously? I gave up quality TV when it hit that price, I certainly wouldn't pay that for YouTube!

Of course OP meant 'drafted' into the National Basketball team!

I guess you are based in the US, since those things would have raised eyebrows in the UK, even in the '70s!

Just a question re your handle. Did you see yourself writing serious comments when you signed up with a Reddit-style username?!!

The good ones leaving or the anti-vaxxers etc? I think I know the answer!

I value freedom of speech, but only if it is mine! I don't want to visit sites and find that it's covered in graffiti
When I borrow anything, I'm depriving someone of a sale, that's how this works right?!!
