I do not have an iPhone, Windows Mobile Smart Phone, or Blackberry. I have a Nokia phone, and in the past i had a Motorola phone with Java.
The thing is, as a user, I dont know where to shop for Windows Mobile apps or Symbian Apps. The only app i ever downloaded was google maps on my Razor. On the other hand, I do know where to shop for iPhone apps.
I'm sure there are thousands of places to buy or get mobile apps for the other platforms, but the thing is nobody is really promoting them to the consumers.
Apple is promoting its App Store directly to consumers, so if I was a developer trying to make money by selling to consumers, I would probably choose Apple.
But Microsoft, RIM and Symbian probably offer have better services and tools for developers (such as no stupid NDAs). If I wanted to make money by selling mobile enterprise apps, I might consider RIM or Microsoft instead, and target my advertising directly to potential customers.
1) They would have to compete with other trucking company 2) They would not be able to offer lower rate to the shipper, and higher rates to the subcontractor. (hence harder to compete) 3) They would have made $2000 instead of $500000 (assuming they could charge a difference of 4% - and assuming they could get the same amount of business) 4) Their only monetary benefits compared to a being a real broker would be avoiding paying taxes and whatever fees a broker needs to pay.
If you read the article, you might "see" whats the deal is about.
The muslim gamer said them an email stating:
"We Muslims consider the mixing of music and words from our Holy Quran deeply offending. We hope you would remove that track from the game immediately via an online patch, and make sure that all future shipments of the game disk do not contain it."
The solution should start by simplifying the elections itself.
Its always going to be confusing when you have to vote for dozens of things at the same time. I mean come one, what do I care who is elected to the school district board when we are talking about presidential elections.
We should have to vote for 3 things max on national elections:
The president. The senate. The house.
Thats it... Then we can go back to old school, simple paper ballots with 1 name on it, And one ballot box for each. Then they are all counted separately.
I feel really stupid, I dont get why its so complicated.
It just seem so simple to me (but I'm probably just a very simple person...)
If the scientist and universities were so incredibly pro open-access, why dont they just start their own open-access friendly, not for profit, publishing platform ?
I can understand that there is a credibility issue, but one would think that if some big scientist organization and university were backing this publishing platform, I'm pretty sure that credibility would not be a problem...
Why do the scientist and the universities need legislations ?
Why the complications ? Why should there be a business model at all ?
It still doesnt matter if its an Embedded System or a Big Irong server.
My point is your number (0.1 seconds per hour of useful work) does not only depend of your platform but mostly of your application.
That is: a Specific Application on a Embedded System might had 0.1 seconds per hour of useful work. An big application on a SuperComputer might add 10 seconds per hour of useful work.
Whether your running an Embedded System or Big Iron does not really matter. What matter is how many cycles your logging is taking that could be used to do productive work, compared to the total cycles used for productive works.
Actually, an internship is the best way to get a job after. Your employer already knows you and what he is paying for, and wont mind extending your J-1 visa for a while until you get an H-1 and maybe later on a green card.
Internship is the best way to recruit junior engineers. Its the only way I would do it.
So, there will be a new Fiber Management Company (FMC ?) setup to manage your own fiber and arguably the peering point.
Who would this Company report to and how would it too its business ?
Would it report to the Homeowners through some kind of HOA ?
If not, then you just moved the monopoly from the ISP to the FMC.
But if the peering point and fibers are really owned by the HOA, can an HOA really ensure quality service to its member ? Do you feel comfortable with your neighbors handling this ? I mean my HOA is trying to regulate the Satellite Dishes, in the complex, with very little success. And I dont really want my neighboors to have access to my connection logs.
It is likely that the local cable or phone company will be first to connect to your peering point and try to keep the competition out by the usual means.
I'm not saying its a bad idea, but I doubt it will be a perfect solution...
But you see, they dont want to write for distros foo, bar, etc... they want to write an app for linux.
They dont want to "collaborate" with dozens of distros, all of which will tell them that "in our distro, the proper way of how to do this" is different than the other ones...
A bigger problem (...) is that web forums are a way for a server operator to make decisions about the features you get (...) rather than leaving those decisions to the client.
As if News server operators had no power to decide what you can get ?
At least with a web forum, I know who is doing the censorship. On a news network, your messages can be filtered by any numbers of news operators, some people might see your message, others might not. You have absolutely no control on how the servers are feeding each others the article.
Thats why now its so easy for the ISPs to shut down Usenet now.
Even though Google groups sucks as a newsreader, at least when I post a news article through Google groups, anybody can see it through the Google Group page... If its censored, I know its Google.
Frankly, I'm a little surprised a backup battery isn't built into PC power supplies already, so they'd work a bit more like laptops. Same with networking gear.
Price ? At least for the stuff I use at home, its pretty cheap. Battery would jack up the price.
Also, batteries stop charging after a while, need to replace them. Its probably more efficient to have one battery for all your stuff.
You mean, the battery location on my laptop is not appropriate ?
I know laptop and servers are very different but still, if my laptop can run 2 or 3 hours on a battery (including the LCD), it should not be that difficult to use the same technology to power a server for a 5 minutes (with no screen needed).
Since Pentium PRO, all the 32-bits intel CPU can address 36-bit of Physical Memory... Also, 8 bits processors could address more than 256 bytes and 16 bits processors could address more than 64K.
Your CPU doesnt need to have mapped access to ALL the device memory any more than your CPU need to have mapped access to the whole content of your hard drive.
If you can use a 4Gb memory stick, why could not you use a video card with 2Gb memory ?
This didnt mean that your video card could only have 64MB of memory. How about its just a 64MB "window", that you can map to any portion of your 2Gb memory ?
Wow!! This is indeed dangerous:
"people start to swap malicious programs, knowledge and sometimes stolen data."
Where did they find the KNOWLEDGE in the first place ?
We need to fight at the source, find the KNOWLEDGE dealers and arrest them!
We need to make the fight against KNOWLEDGE a national priority, nominate a KNOWLEDGE tsar or something!
Will somebody think of the children!!

So yeah... It would not work very well...
That would be the real question in those times...
If you read the article, you might "see" whats the deal is about.

Less susceptible to Jam and Interferences ?
Actually the good thing is that instead of tinfoil hats, we can just use paper hats !
You would actually be buying something:
Email Account: $0 (on Mastercard)
Knowing that your email wont be blocked because its not hosted by a spammer hangout: Priceless.
So that might be worth it.
Note that there are other ways for them to do that, credit bureaus already offer identification services. They cost a fee though.

Too much democracy kills democracy.
Computers are NOT going to solve this problem.

You have no persmission to read my comments.
Since you are still reading this comment, this is unauthorized access! Sue You!!

I have been told they do not have Stop signs in Taiwan!
Okay, the key in you strategy is that you try different women...
To get back to the origina analogy, when you peg doesnt fit the whole, try another hole
So you didnt disprove anything.

Another way to look at it:
They are Evil, you are Good
1) First they ignore you
2) Then the laugh at you
3) Then they fight you
4) Then they try to join you
We are at this stage now. Whatever they do is a step toward the same goal. It is not a change of heart. So they still are Evil....

Maybe after the electric cars are working, we'll see electric trucks, electric trains, electric machinery...
We just need the oil to bootstrap the whole thing.
Oil might go the way of the punch card...
Controversial indeed.... Linus might be mad, but maby of his comments are +5 Funny
