    Once the MPAA, RIAA and every other cultural cartel gets a hold of this, it will die like the DAT tape.

    They should just release it as a means of backing up data and then figure out the copy protection.
    -We get a new storage medium.
    -They squable for 5 years.
    -Then *MAYBE* they come out with a larger capacity disks with DRM for TVs/movies

    someone else that thinks Threshold is badly written.
    Once I saw the episode where the sound-based virus infects anything electronic(cell-phones, network routers,...) that's when I had enough.

    These writers really think we are dumb or were they smoking crack instead of going to school?

    I'm surprised we don't have a poll on the worst new SCI show.
    (Holy shit, there's like 7 or 8 of them!!!)

    I have tried more recent drivers 2ys ago when they came out with their new "catalyst" drivers. They made the box unusable.
    I'll probably try again but I have no faith in ATI drivers.

    My next TV-tuner card will not be an ATI because I can't use any other less flaky SW with an AIW.

    Regardless of what comes out, this shows why the US is going down hill:
    -too much greed (using patents to make $ from little or nothing)
    -too little research (fewer and fewer REAL things to patent)

    Now we are starting to see how patenting everything is ruining everything, even profits! (OMG! please save the $!)

    Through in the ID-vs-Darwin debate and the US become it should have been since GWB got in: a laughing stock.

    What's the point of running software to tape shows when the software makes the box crash after 3.5days? When I don't use the ATI SW, it stays up for at least 10days (don't trust it more than that and force a reboot)

    On top of that, some shows that I ask it to tape get deleted at the end of the show for no reason. It's so bad that I have to setup a process to copy the file before the ATI SW deletes it!

    It seems anolog copy protection on Cable TV was working well even 3y+ ago!

    (BTW: It's All-in-one radion)

    Have the user choose at the first start up of OpenOffice.org
    -Office 2000/2003 style (default)
    -Office 2006 ribbon style

    There are enough different layouts out there.
    OOo should not create a third!
    Besides OOo already is different but in a good way like putting the Page settings in the Format menu intead of the File menu.

    SW patents do mean shit in China and in 15-20 years they will be dictating terms because they will have most of the wealth.

    All that needs to happen is for one critical app to be created in China that many corps want/need but couldn't create due to SW patents. When that app is sold/licensed/bartered around the world, all the SW patents in the world won't stop it.

    Don't believe me, look at the Blackberry Patent suit. In the US, even if RIM looses, the US government will still be *allowed* to buy and used blackberries in the US. Patents means nothing if the need/want is there.

    To me it sounds more like what happend to DAT: Digital Audio Tape

    Before it was to be used for backups, it was supposed to come out also as the digital replacement for cassette tapes. The copy protection took so long to be agreed upon that when it came out, so did CDs and CDs were better to boot.

    I think that by the time this format war is over, everybody else will be using the internet to get movies. Physical formats won't matter except for data backup.

    One reason alone is enough to make IPv6 a "good idea." Permanent static IP addresses for everything.
    I, for one, will welcome the end of the NAT kludge.

    And your ISP will charge you for each Address you use!
    NAT let's you use ONE IP from you ISP and have as many Internal IPs as you which without being gouged.

    I see many contests advertized that exclude Quebec.

    I don't even know if McDonald's Monopoly game is valid in Quebec. If it is, you probably can't use game pieces from quebec for the game outside of quebec and vice-versa.

    My guess is that there probably is a law in Quebec that wants to have a chunk of the prize winnings reserved for the public in Quebec. Such a law would skew the contest towards Quebec, hench the exclusion.

    IOW: It's not you. It's your laws and politicians that are screwing Quebec'ers from participating in many contests.

    BTW: If you think Quebec is "La belle province" now, wait till you separate. Those elitist politicians will finally be able to have their "Cuba of the North" and all you'll be able to say about the good'ol days is: "Je me souviens".

    The company said that Mozilla's browser now has a global market share of 11.5 percent, an increase of 2.8 percentage points since April.

    If MS was promoting this it would be touted as a 24% increase in usage! And market share numbers would not even be mentioned. (It worked for NT...)
