Saw this yesterday in an attempt to see it actually working.
Was disappointed.
Why would you have a whole report without it actually printing any chocolate?
cynical reasons I can think of : 1) It's something they're working on, doesn't work yet but they want to raise publicity/funding 2) They ate all the chocolate so couldn't print anymore
I'd love to have the instant recall being cyberised would bring. I think the whole world wide mind idea is less realistic though as people in general like to have their own individuality... hence I guess that issue being discussed in GITS
OK I'll bite - The Christian message is that Jesus Christ is God's son who died to save you, me, anyone who'll accept it so they can have a relationship with God.
We do need saving from the judgment that is coming from the same God I call loving. Try to see if from God's perspective and it might make a little more sense.
Would you really rather not know about it? If you were about to drive off a cliff wouldn't you want someone to try to shout "turn around!"?
Is it just me or is that a stupid question? A 50mpg car is more 'green' than a 20mpg car. Who cares what you replace what car with what. MPG is a helpful pointer to how much fuel you'll use. If you replace a 10mpg car with a 20mpg your fuel usage is still going to be far too high in my view.
I've never had a problem with handmade cables, but I have had a problem with poorly installed cables (eg too many sharp angles) - though you'd get that regardless of how they're made.
With this exploit, once you're on the malicious web page, the bad guy can make you click on any link
I think what they are hinting at is that if your browser automatically fills in forms for you, a malicious website could have a form and then automatically submit the data.
The article doesn't give any detail on their study other than they had a mathmatical model that predicts something they programmed it to do. What do they mean by "rates of protein evolution" and how do they show that?
Indoctrination is exactly what seems to be happening here in the UK with evolution. Many people will say they believe in science and evolution but they haven't much of a clue about why they believe in either or what good scientific principles are. Rather they believe what the media says about what some scientists concluded and have no idea about how they got there or the assumptions made in the process.
If you question evolution, you are laughed at. I've seen plenty of theories and evidence to support both sides, but creationist scientists are the ones who seem to be asking questions and looking at the evidence. Evolution scientists just seem to laugh and belittle anyone who questions it which I don't find is an argument that furthers my scientific understanding. Evolutionists should be thanking the creationists for pointing out the inconsistencies with their theories so they can ditch or develop them.
I agree with you but what I want to know is does SciFi count as prior art? I'm sure there was an episode of Andromeda where a tatoo was actually a printed storage medium.
There is safety potential. I notice a massive improvement in the conduct of cars following me (on a motorbike) when I wear a horrible flourescent jacket. Something like this would be great, ok, not to blink the whole time but to display messages... I'd program it to read "back off, you're dangerously close" when necessary (or alternatively - "I can stop in the half the distance you can").
After my first thoughts (which as usual everyone else has posted) I wondered what the point was... well to save anyone else who can't be bothered to actually read the article - it's to create a really high pressure explosion type thing (although the article says "implosion") to research into nuclear explosions (without actually setting one off - which is a good thing:)
"ID can always sidestep any challenges regarding the competence of the 'designer' by claiming that we cannot presume to know the intent of God"
Yeah I was just thinking that. Squid eyes are radically different to our own. Saying that having a blind spot is a design flaw isn't necessaryily true - the designer might look at the problem and decide that an eye with a blind spot still qualifies as "good".
All ID says is 'God did it' -- an utterly worthless assertion, that has no ability whatsoever to shine any light on the world around us.
Of course, if it's true then the world around us does get lit up.
Also, my back is bad only when I spend too long sitting hunched over a desk and staring at a screen (until I can see where the blind spot is)rather than running around outside - how is it a bad design?
I've seen (experienced) both the older ones that scold you as you said and also the newer ones that get it right. They have improved (called Combi-boiler here) and are more efficient.
>Was Moses there to see the Creation? No, but the comment bunched Adam and Eve in with creation, they had kids, hence oral culture of recording history.
>Just because there are some things in the Bible that has some sort of connection to historical events A lot of it IS a historical account! Sure it's written down by people and therefore it's from their point of view (like all historical accounts). But if their point of view was that God sent an angel, told them to do something, they did it and what was promised happened then isn't that exactly the evidence of God's work that you'd like to see?
>Yes, evolution is theory. And no-one is disputing that What really is the point here is that people don't realise that and so don't ever question it. It's like people 'believe' in science without understanding what good science is or that what they're doing is un-scientific.
>Creationism is not even a theory See Answers in Genesis for some theory (it is a Christian organisation btw)
> What if it wasn't evolution that was singled out I think it's because people just don't question evolution (I live in the UK btw). Whereas it's more understood that theories in (for example) Physics are constantly being worked on.
Maybe that's just a hard concept for teachers to get across (that the science they're teaching is sometimes just theories that seem to fit) and that's why it's never emphasised and why everyone just believes it without question. Evolution most of all because it deals with our very existence (hence why it becomes an issue).
I think that bit was passed down through an oral culture before being written down (I think Moses recorded a lot of it). But the point I was making was that there are loads of eye witness accounts of stuff God's done (see pretty much any page in the Bible) hence why people believe God exists. People still are lacking actual cases where its definate new genetic material has been added by something evolving - it's all theories saying that it looks like this evolved from this but it's still theory (not talking about natural selection here of course).
See what I mean?
Except that the Bible is a record of things that God has done with eye witness accounts. The equivalent evolutionist book would be lots of examples where the slime turned into fish with someone saying it was a fun event and I was there.
Sure you could put these stickers on Bibles for RE lessons but teachers already have to be very careful not endorse any particular religion so it's redundant. Pointing out that a theory taught in science classes is a theory is not something that I remember teachers saying much of.
It is the same as with girls or broader: partners
That's an apalling attitude!
Find the right one and stick with her. Unlike jobs, she'll thank you for it.

Not heard of that one before - looks like fun
Already been to the toilet thanks ;)

"60 million rotations per minute" seems pretty fast. 30000 rpm seems to be their previous best for levitating small crystals.

Wasn't there a plan a few years back to use microelectromechanical systems to do the same thing on aircraft wings?

Make sure your boss' inbox gets all the bouncebacks! That'll make them think twice before doing it again at least.
