    The law explictly, specifically, prohibits tie-ins. It's the fucking law. It applies to carpets, car insurance, hair stylists and frozen vegetables. So why shouldn't it apply to computer and operating systems?

    With a properly designed power supply, it can be done with over 90% efficiency, possibly even more.

    Furthermore, newer data centers tend to be wired with DC power, so that there is only AC/DC conversion at the UPS. DC/DC conversion can be made even more efficient.

    Contrast this with running a gasoline engine, which is about 20% efficient.

    I don't think I've ever seen one that does that, and it shouldn't. However it's just as trivial to change the "From:" field. There's no provision in the SMTP protocol to validate this, or anything else for that matter.

    My point is, there's no way a micro black hole would accumulate mass, even withoiut hawking's radiation, because it's event horizon would be smaller in size than it's component particles anyway, and therefore the strong nuclear force would win every time.

    How could a tiny black hole engender a positive feedback loop? I'm not even speaking of Hawking's radiation here; but how would a few g big blackhole do anything? Its mass being tiny, it's not going to have much gravity at all, so it's not going to attract anything to grow. At most will behave like a heavy particle. Big black holes suck up stuff because their gravity overcomes all other forces, but here that can't be the case.
    Clearly, they have mistaken the catchy name for the definition.

    ISO has standard on tens of thousands of things that matter, and those standards make international trade and cooperation possible. It just so happens that, in some cases, other standards have won over ISO's, so what? What matters here is not whether one particular ISO standard is fucked up, or unusable, or braindead: these are the kind of things that are expected to happen. What matters is that the ISO itself has been corrupted, its processes have been damaged, the trust it enjoyed has been dilapidated, because MS has demonstrated someone corrupt enough, sociopathic enough could do it.

    I just bought a new motherboard with integrated Intel GMA3100 graphics. I ended up buying a low end Nvidia 8400 for 40 EUROS because it sucked so much. The Intel can barely run Google Earth. It runs Quake3 worse than a 6 year old Geforce. The 8400 runs ET:QW at 30 fps @ 1680x1050, medium-low settings with shadows disabled. That's not £300, just £30, and it's capable of running recent games decently.
    So yeah, the guy's right, Intel's graphics adaptors are terrible. I don't know about the X3xxx series, they're supposed to be much better, but I wouldn't count on it.
