Software can be patented, but not "Software as such."
I've read this expression in many pro-software patent texts, and after having seen it discussed on various mailing lists, it appears that it doesn't mean shit.
Yes it does conflict more. Besides, what I would call historical research, such as mythist theory of the non existence of "jesus", would put someone in jail.
France and Germany have roughly 10% unemployment. USA have about 6%. The latter sounds better, doesn't it? Now, how about you add to that unemployment stats:
- People in jail - People working to put and keep people in jail - People doing useless and actually damaging work such as unsollicited telemarketing, frivolous lawsuits, etc, that don't exist in decent countries..... and I'm pretty sure the gap gets down to not much.
You know what, one of my best friend's father is a biology researcher, he has worked with Pr. Montagnier on the HIV virus, he has taught in many high profile universities, published in the best scientific papers. He doesn't agree with you. So tell me, who am I supposed to trust more, that kind of respected person, or some random Internet conspiracy kook? You're a fool.
I get 2Mbps/512kbps for 29.90 a month with Free in Paris. No sign-up fee, modem provided at no cost.
Interestingly, those guys, who have run on free software for year (hence the name, Free), have developed their own set-top box, AKA Freebox, which is more than just an ADSL modem: it's got 100baseTX, USB1.1, 2x phone RJ-11, one SCART and has an IR remote control.
They plan on providing digital TV and phone service through ADSL soon. Service is unrestricted, unmetered, unfiltered, static IP through DHCP, though still a bit rough around the edge at times.
My phone is old and cheap and works on all GSM networks (900-1800-1900). Try again.
Oh and ALL phones currently on sale in Europe work on both 900 Mhz and 1800 Mhz. This is only a problem if you go to the US, but who would want to go there, with all that terror they get?
You know what, trusting the Bush administration after the hilarious episodes of:
- Fake uranium orders from Niger - Student's thesis from 12 years ago presented as convincing evidence - Meaningless wiretappings presented as evidence... conjures up images of the Goatse guy asking for more, much more up the ass.
The problem with User-Mode Linux, as I understand it, is that the virtual machine is not that much isolated. It doesn't guarantee as much as it seems in terms of access control, security etc.
This virtualisation technique, however, could probably be much safer.
Well if you don't need a journalling file system, real SMP support nor decent threading for something to be "professional", then I guess *BSD might be "professional", indeed.
I don't know about Norway specifically, but Turkey has chosen to be under the ECJ jurisdiction by signing some treaty, while it's not currently part of the EU.

No offence meant, but you really speak like the average insecure tech robot. The world is NOT a small place.
On top of that, the Spanish people were more opposed to the war than the French by about 5 point (89% against in France vs 94% in Spain).
It looked like Aznar was the only person in Spain supporting this war.

I challenge your claim that this is not a fraud. Who isolated the HIV virus?
Pr. Montagnier, of Institut Pasteur, a not-for-profit organization. What's your point?
Are you invoking the 1st Amedment? T'was good while it lasted, wasn't it?

I remember hearing about tons of Vx, Mustard, Sarin ... surely, considernig how dangerous those are, you can't just hide them under the carpet?
It can't be as much fiction as that war on Iraq (where are the WMDs again?) or the last US presidential election.
Inspired by PacMan (people listening to electronic music gobbling strange pills in dark places).
MPlayer plays it very well. Just go to the page with the movie, press Ctrl-I to get the list of media links in the page, copy and paste it:

Why give it back? That's $2 millions less to buy depleted uranium.
Freedom of information? You mean, freedom to watch FoxNews.com? How is it better than the Ba'ath Ministry of information, I'm still wondering ...

Some people are that binary: "you're either with us or against us."
That kind of people is rather harmless when they get drunk, but as soon as they stop they start harassing random people.

Who did create your "god"?
Genetic programming works for something at least somewhat linear; would definitely not work for random drawing lottery.

I completely agree with you, doing this could get a spammer and his family killed.
I have a question though, why do you seem to imply that this a bad thing?

This doesn't make much sense; if the device allows some form of rapid diagnostic, it IS going to be safer than diverting the plane in most cases.
