Also, DTV sues the company that got raided for damages for each individual device sold...THEN DTV turns around and sends these extortion letters to EACH end users for the SAME damages!
The weird thing is that based on what is known about the cards....DTV *CAN* secure their system to a much greater extent than it is now. It's a known fact that they can permanently disable all cloned cards (I.E. any card that is in a receiver but not legally subscribed) in one fell swoop.
They don't though....makes you wonder.......
The main theory is that they WANT piracy to proliferate because it increases their installation base (kinda like Windows piracy...) so whenever they do tighten their security...everyone will already be locked in to them...or at least be more inclined to sub to DTV than a competitor.
No, YOU jackass. The limb you went off on broke. You don't know what you're talking about.
The products sold on those sites are quite superior to regular smart card programmers and are CHEAPER!
Your usual smart card writer suppliers know that most people buying these are buying them using their companies budget so they make the markup higher.
It makes sense (well did until DTV started this crap) to buy from those pirate websites.
Hell some DTV sites (advancedlearningsystems.com) sell actual professional smartcard programmers cheaper than the manufacturer. They buy in bulk and sell individually at cost for their members.
They could be encrypting the data to two keys in all cases. One of the party you're speaking to and one they have access to.
Unless you can see the code doing the encrypting then you can't trust it 100%. But hey...even then you can't trust it 100% unless you compilied it.....and you compilied the compiler that compilied it...by hand...yea....
Shut up dumbass. It's either a story that hasn't been submitted yet. It's like you're a subscriber...kinda like the free HBO previews cable companies get.
I wonder what the odds are that within 18 months, the company that makes this thing will come out with a gps collar add on that can tell you your childs exact location. 18 months after that...video camera built into the collar.
The odds are zero. That's a stupid idea and it doesn't support your point.
I am currently working on a system very much like this developed inhouse in Southern Mississippi. Our login system is somewhat like theirs for elementary students, but you can change your password...it's only a default value initially. We even have a way of creating one parent account that maps several students to it...etc..
But our biggest problem was cooperation within the schools themselves. They seem to be the ones that hate this type of stuff. Whenever you change the way someone (especially a teacher) has to do something they tend to freak out.
Most everyone liked the system once it was put in however. Students, parents, teachers and administrators for the majority say now that it's a godsend.
I've got my controls in gta3 setup pretty well. My friend who is used to PS2 controls doesn't like it, but I'm used to FPS games and it's great for me. I don't steer with the mouse but I do aim with it and control direction with it. Other than that C is forward (walking and car) V is backwards,Z is left and X is right. RSHIFT runs and LCTRL and RMB shoot. The middle mouse button zooms in and the left mouse button is for turning on zooming. Works great for me...makes the game seem like a realistic UT...=)
It's not pay-per-play. You pay for the game then Battle.net is free (right now anyways...maybe that's going to change and that's why they want to get rid of bnetd?).
Soooo...if one person doesn't think it's funny then the rest of the large amount of people who DO think it's funny just MUST be wrong? Geez...I was waaayy off. Thanks for setting me back on the right track! Stupid bbspot!

Heh, that's what he was implying.

Yea....it's possible that you're clinically insane.
Not approved yet...you know what I meant smartass...=)

You don't work for Harrison County Schools do you?
You sound an awful lot like some of our teachers...only difference is our parents can already access children's grades.

I don't have a guitar. Will a leaf work?
Yea...that makes a lot of sense.
"Clearly they are in this to turn a profit."
My god no! The bastards!! A profit???
Just curious, but is it automatically under a BSD-like license as well or does it vary from state to state?
"You may die tomorrow."
Or worse yet...you might die TODAY! Right after you read this post!
A *real* PC for $200? It'd be close just getting *that* for $200.....much less whatever you consider a real pc.
Just jpg returns 18,000,000....apparently they're not doing boolean queries there.

Isn't it the same or similar to what Samba has to do? Or is it different in their situation? Either way, I'm in the same situation.
Haven't you ever seen Seinfeld man? Of COURSE you keep going back because the soup is that damn good.

Was there a point to that post? This isn't JUST for python...it's for perl and javascript too.
