This isn't even funny, there are people who have REAL accidents and REALLY need specialist burns units and now 2 people might have to suffer because two fucking idiot retards who Darwin intended to die, are now wasting these beds with their fucking waste of space retarded sacks of shit. In what possible scenario does fluorescent tube lighting and petrol become an even semi safe idea? Please someone tell me what these people were trying to do that 'would' have been relatively safe had it not been of some totally random spark, bolt of lightning or cow farting next to a naked flame pointed in their general direction, because i fail to see how you can unite these two objects in any sane way.
Yeah sure, considering cross-browser compatibility and web-standards compliance is at an all time low i don't think its going to happen. I've been writing javascript and its an absolute bitch to do anything that will work on a decent range of browsers while still falling-back neatly for non-javascript viewers, although it does have some decent features in that you can check if a particular object is supported with an if() it still has to much variance between implementations. This is why things like flash do so well, because you know that Flash, while not being a W3C standard in any way, does in fact have better consistency, rolled out, right now, than the W3C could ever even hope to achieve with the fucking crap browsers out there. Yes Flash isn't the best format, it's not as well structured, it has no text-based fall back, it's not easy to integrate or hack but it beats the alternative hands down if you want a platform independent program right now. If everyone dropped all these nonsense fads like 'KHTML'/'Safari', 'Opera' and 'IE' and started using Firefox then yes, maybe it could all work out, but as it stands, you simply cant rely on javascript.
This is so old i can see the dust on that phone number, there was a nother service planned years ago, maybe they went under. Also there already is a service that ID's your mp3's online and tags them for free, tho i forget what its called - anyone?
I totally agree, self defence is fine but going beyond that is not. But a nasty little part of me would love to see the little bitches beaten until their bowls give-way and shit floods out.
Can someone just explain two things about Eurovision - why has the UK been consistently entering shit songs and shit performers for several years straight? is this on purpose? its not like we don't have any real singers - there have been some good ones, wtf is going on? And WTF is Israel doing in this contest?
I think its all a rumour and these things are set up. I haven't seen any but id love to see one where the victim hit back and beat the shit out of the attackers until they were on their knees begging for their life.
'There is no better example of how theft dims the magic of the movies for everyone than this report today regarding BitTorrent providing users with illegal copies of Revenge of the Sith. The unfortunate fact is this type of theft happens on a regular basis on peer to peer networks all over the world.'
Who exactly has had the magic of the movies spoilt for them by this particular movie leak? Someone tell me which poor child accidently clicked on the download button, watched the poor quality release against their will and is now unhappy? Perhaps a die-hard fan just couldn't help themselves and was unable to resist the urge to watch this crap version, and now has come away wishing they hadn't spoilt the experience just like they wish they handn't spoilt the experience of loosing their virginity with that goat from the frat party?
Oh well if its Glasgow council tax knock yourself out. but to me it just sounds like bribing kids, they're not stupid, they can right through it, they will do just enough to get the prize, probably going to McDonalds on their way home. a better way would be to just sit kids down and show them what happens if they continue with their current diet
-get them to watch some videos of those super-obese people who cant fit through their doors and who explain how they got like that
-show them operations and people with various illnesses (drop smoking into it while your at it) and how they started off and how much pain and suffering they are in because of it
-make sure they understand that this isn't just "one of those things that will never happen to me"
-show kids the bloody facts and figures, the reasons why they should not lead an unhealthy life-style
-give them a view of the opposite end, interview various athletes and stars and see how they live
I absolutely would not expect someone to just drop their burger because you tell them to, that's a sign of a sheep. Bribing them is just as bad because they learn nothing but "if you eat this crap for a month you win something but probably only once cos there's a limit of one win per kid". Telling them to eat healthy for no reason is stupid, you have to show kids why, otherwise why should they do it?
Now look, it might _seem_ like a double standard foreign policy but if you think about it its not: Yes its true some of the hi-jackers came from Saudi Arabia, and yes the Saudi government has been very slightly un-cooperative recently (some restrictions on nuclear inspections or something) and ok they have committed a few minor human rights violations (who hasn't?) and yes they do have a bit of a clout in the oil market, but really this putting Saudi Arabia down as some sort of totalitarian inhumane state that's living 200 years behind the west has got to stop! Saudi Arabia is an ally but those evil un-democratic Indians are not and so we must be careful.
If your sad enough to have an urge to see this version then your such a star wars fan your going to see the movie 10 times and then buy all the crap. If you watched it because you had noting else to do and now you think its crap - you probably wouldnt have had anyone to go see it with anyway...
Firstly they are guards not guardians, none of this bullshit PC talk please. Secondly this is good - if people see what RFID is used for they will be less prepared to subject their kids and the rest of society to it. Just like Edison hijacked AC power for the electric chair to give Westinghouse a bad name, we need to hijack RFID and make sure its used in all the most depraved was we can.
True but i see this as a good faith thing - we all know the DRM will be cracked so you'll be able to play songs outside of subscription, but $5 a month is so low people are just starting to say "fuck living in fear of the riaa, i'll call this protection money". And if anyone's about to ask.. yes, that does mean terrorism^h^h^h^h^h^h^h^h^h fear tactics have worked.
I've actually never had a warm beer, someone let me know where this happens? Oh and while were on the subject, my area is full of bloody dentists, there's several on a street in some cases!
Yes... because there certainly aren't any computing laws that already cover un-authorised access of someone's machine. Seriously, the people responsible for any intrusive advertising or related annoyances are the people who actually buy the products. These people need to be executed by special executive order from the president himself - no messing about with terrorists, just shoot the people who buy penis pumps and subscriptions to xxx-teens-for-you.com and the world will be a better place.
iTunes is DRM'd so its not really yours, unless you only want to play it in iTunes. This yahoo service will work, I would object to music rentals too, but $5 a month? come on! you probably spend more than that on coffee.
I think 99% of people who get music off file-sharing would pay $5 just for peace of mind and trust me no one will give a shit about the 'principle' - if $5 a month buys you legal insurence against the music industry then people will do it, i guess thats what Yahoo is banking on. they'll certainly get my money, even if it's DRM'd, in fact DRM will just die off at this rate because it just won't be worth it any more. Obviously this is all a pipe-dream, Yahoo isn't really selling unlimited music for $5 a month - if they are then it will only be for a limited time or will be shut boycotted by the RIAA or only for the first 1 million customers or something stupid. Everyone go pinch your-selves.
Sounds like press office bullshit or something, it would be a very poor system if it was based on the concept of the program deleting a file after a certain date - its not like the user couldn't make a copy! I think its more likely the content will be encrypted and the key will reside on their server - you will have to connect every time you watch, its the only way to do this sort of thing with any shred of competence. The key will be recoverable with a little effort, so a crack program will be out within days of the launch. Now they could cover their asses if they personalised the content - eg imprinted some flaws in various frames, something that could be used to identify who originally downloaded the video if it ended up on P2P, but that should be breakable by simply differencing the frames of 2 or more videos, merging images etc, so another crack program then. All in all it should be interesting, the BBC have some decent R&D so I don't expect the usual crap, maybe they have something reasonable?
This isn't even funny, there are people who have REAL accidents and REALLY need specialist burns units and now 2 people might have to suffer because two fucking idiot retards who Darwin intended to die, are now wasting these beds with their fucking waste of space retarded sacks of shit. Absolute undeniable proof that the government is transmitting mind rays and doesn't want you wearing tin foil hats..

Its true, but its just so much fun to take the piss out of them... :\ we can't help it!
Just park your car and stay inside for about 3 days, darwin will handle the rest.

Not everyone on slashdot is in the US...
My tax is not going to pay for this. No fucking way.

I don't think there was ever any doubt among serious gamers, the XBOX will always be second best.
Seriously, why limited? just ask the user if they want tabs or not, if people can't handle that then they shouldn't be using a computer.
