  1. Re:I've got one simple question to ask... on Software Glitches Stall Toyota Prius · · Score: 1

    Erm.. software runs on hardware??

The only reason 'native hardware' (i assume you mean hard-wired logic) is so stable is because its absolutely as simple as you can get, its the equivelent of half a dozen lines of code that have been looked over and tested to death, if you make those logic circuits any more complex, to add more features you will end up with a mess worse than if it was run on a CPU. I agree though, the actual car part of a car should be very very simple and very well tested, unfortunately this doesn't quite work in real life business. People want engine management, drive modes and all sorts of features. For most people, safety comes in second place because they just assume the car they are about to buy must be safe - otherwise how would it be allowed on the road? This leads to car manufacturers being forced to race eachother for features - if they don't, then someone else will.

Ahhh the throw-away culture, im just doing my bit to fill the world with non-degradable bits of plastic for animals to choke on.

  4. Who needs to bother? on The Worst Foods to Eat Over a Keyboard · · Score: 4, Insightful

This article is way out of date, most keyboards aren't worth money anymore - they're disposable items. I buy a new one every few months because keep smashing the old one's - its a great tension relief, especially for Windows. Just find a cheap brand of keyboard that you like the feel of and keep buying the same one, theres no need for this fancy crap.

Thats because most of the crap stations are out-sourced to a big company with a building full of generic DJs who just play the same record industry generated play lists and pretend to be in some town they've never heard of between songs. The whole thing is just one big advert. A few years ago, a radio station would have a massive library, now days people have an even bigger library stored in the palm of their hand and with full control over what they listen to - how can a radio compete? New music is more likely to be played online rather than a real radio station so you'll get every band, not just the ones that have been heard by a producer. All thats left is talk radio which is great and has a real future (theres never any shortage of things to talk about) ironically, radio stations seem scared to carry people like Howard Stern in the US because of the pussy FCC.

Ah the good old days, when VCD's where as easy to come by as that slutty girl in your class, and everyone was discovering sharing, memories... Kids these days with their Napsters and Torrents, they have it easy!

If Microsoft seriously wants to brainwash then they're going to have to aim for the 8 year olds or lower. Do some classes where kids make macaroni and glitter pictures and then someone takes them and pretends they made them and then beats the kid to within an inch of their lives while playing Beethoven too loud, now that's brainwashing!

Its basically a trade off between safety and what passengers are prepared to go through to get on a plane and of course what financial benefits might be gained from allowing or disallowing certain products on board, we all remember the lighters and matches allowance. It certainly would be beneficial to airlines to have all consumer electronics banned - then they can charge passengers to use air phones, watch movies, or listen to music. Its all a big game really, security is not the main issue - if it was, then you would be stripped and given a full cavity search before being x-rayed, chained to your seat and sedated - first class passengers would be able to enjoy the full package where they would fall asleep on entering the airport and wake up at their destination without all that hassle, bliss!
