Fuck that, i'd rather have a flawed standard followed to the letter on all major browsers than 10 totally incompatable half-hearted implementations of the same format making even simple tasks such as positioning a box on the screen a fucking nightmare. Microsoft should follow the standard in their 'strict' mode and do whatever they want in the other modes.

Im not inciting anyone to do anything of course but I think it would be beneficial if there accidentally happened to be a worm on the loose that converted people to firefox and disguised it as IE - just to push the un-washed masses into whats good for them. The greatest problem in the web industry is the lack of one single browser with one single standard and one set of bugs, firefox is the answer and unless IE 7 can do everything that FF can do _and_ is cross-platform its just not helping the issue.

Yes I can see the security issue with having everyone use one browser but at the moment its something like 70%/20%/5%/5% which means developers have to pull their hair out making things work in every browser and security holes still fuck everyone over.

Great, now not only does biometrics encourage would-be ID thieves to cut off peoples fingers or make a copy (which cant be changed like a pin), but RFID is going to start groups pointing microwave guides at people and firing out 800W.

Don't be so sure its not out of reach, it certainly doesn't have to be anywhere near half a mile, less than a meter is more than enough for most pick-pockets and those with more sinister agendas. I see absolutely no need for RFID in cards, swipe and smart cards have worked fine for years, sure they wear out but if people are so fucking lazy that they can't cope with getting a new card every couple of years then they can bloody well have their details and serial numbers tatooed on their head.
