when removable hard drives are so cheap, and enterprise systems are already invested in tape drives, I see no market niche for this. Plus, 35 gig disks at $60 a pop? mom and dad aren't going to want to pay $180, plus $400 drive cost, to back up their 120gb hard drive they got in their computer. good luck iomega.
It was a fanflic basically.
borrowed scenes from the LOTR trilogy and some dragon movie that I didn't recognize. (Dragonslayer on further investigation.)
Very well done, as it obvious sucked you into believing it. But it was definitely faked.
See here for instance.
You're forgetting that lift capacity goes by the cubic footage of the lifting body, not the length.
I'm too lazy to do the math, but a longer body would have a far larger volume in the lifting body than liner. 7.5 ft per person on a 30ft version != 75ft for 10 ppl.
I had 5.1 installed and running perfectly fine on my box, tried to format and do a fresh install of 5.2 and it won't write to the HD. did drive scans, installed various other OSes, all fine. but freeBSD hates me now. so i installed 5.1 again and all is good.
that's my 5.2 experience. while googling for a solution I ran across a bunch of other people with the same problem and no resolution.
Drive geometry on Seagate barracuda drives doesn't seem to play nice with the 5.2 installer.
you haven't tried to move your number, you're just pissed about choosing to sign a 2 year contract.
Why would you say it's a gimmick when you just don't have option to use it because you were stupid enough to sign away two years of money for what sounds like awful service? what gimmick bought your money?
the only thing that would do is remind me of ye ole DOS days when you had to reboot the computer to get your memory settings set right to play your games. I know I'm not alone in saying that rebooting is an old, old paradigm that needs to be done away with asap.
now if you're talking about just running the app in a virtual shell of an OS, that would be a nifty idea... ooo! wait! I'll be right back! *runs to patent office and runs smack into Jeff Bezos*
look at it this way. the people out there who have bought stuff from telemarketers in the past aren't likely to sign up on the do not call list, just the rest of us who slam the phone down on em.
Basically, the people not on the list are now self selected to be the ones likely to buy something. this will push UP the percentage of calls that generate a sale, increasing revenues for telemarketing companies.
Mini-itx was 17x17 centimeters, this is 12x12, so 5cm (or about 2 inches) smaller than a mini-itx.
The RAM slot looks like it takes laptop ram, not stadard desktop DIMMs. The cpu is a 1Ghz C3 processor, hardwired in (no upgrading that once purchased). 3 sound jacks, ethernet (mini-itx vias are 10/100, i assume this is), 2 USB, video out, PS2 keyboard jack, and a TV output. mouse would have to be via USB.
I love my mini-itx server, which is completely silent running, this thing is even tinier, but with a 1ghz cpu i'll be interested to see if they can make a fanless model. the 1ghz mini-itx boards don't passively cool without gluing on a Zalman flower heatsink.
what's the latest on the posibility of Good Omens coming to the screen?

I like his endings. He flies right up to the brink and then stops the car. Apparently most slashdotties have their seatbelts on. I like to leave mine off and fly off that cliff. He gives you so much to chew on with his endings. plenty of space for "what if..." I always remember his books far longer than most simply BECAUSE it's not all spelled out for you in detail.
it really comes down to the fact that directX is the most capable api for games at the moment. DX9 beats the living pixels out of OpenGL, and that's just a simple fact. I hate MS as much as the next slashdotter, but come on guys. Windows has Linux beat hands down for gaming.
On another note, while freeBSD runs fine on my 500mhz via mini-itx board, I know I'm not the only person out there buying a whole new system for HL2 and Doom3 in the next few months. and guess what's going on the primary partition? It'll only get booted up to play games, web/e-mail can be done on anything.
the entire statement is "the release will be," "the product will be," "in development."
so basically someone identified a market and said "Hey, there's money to be made in reinventing the wine wheel. let's do it!"

that might be it, but it's not really new news. They've known about that for a few days now, and hadn't been keeping it under wraps.
I'm all for 'wait and see.'

I could, but I prefer to do a fresh install whenever I go to a new OS.

looks like he could pull it off. never seen that movie though.
that's one of the most graceful slashdottings I've ever witnessed.
Throw more resources at it!
business as usual!
As stated in the post, microsoft's RDC is abysmal as far as bandwidth usage goes. Improve the protocol and there's plenty of bandwidth available.
sorry to be rude, but was a very worthless .02

700,000 gallons of diesel, says so in the article. ;o)

i was thinking that at first, and said "that'd be fucking dumb to put on no ps2 ports.
but they did. >_
'cause dell didn't make consumer products before...?
This was making the rounds on Fatwallet.com this morning. We'll see if it can compete with the IPod which already has a solid foot in the market.

I think it's a win/win situation.
