  1. The fact that you insist on referring to non-Western Europeans as "savages" strongly indicates that you're a dickhead.

That's what they were referred to as, at the time. Better get back inside before you melt, snowflake.

  2. How were we brutal? If anything, the savages were the brutal ones. Although I agree with the basic idea to not attract attention and to not mess with the homes of savages.

It's shit like this that makes me question our educational system...

Show me any "savages" that had anything even resembling the vast array of torture devices that had been invented, by Europeans, by the time those Europeans began exploring the world (15th - 18th centuries) and interacting with less technologically developed humans.

We came up with devices designed to absolutely maximize the pain that was inflicted during executions and torture. I'm not implying the natives were peaceful or did not engage in bloody wars but, for fuck's sake, they did not devote the man-hours that we did to the creation of devices meant to enhance, intensify, and prolong the misery of dying.

  3. Why not get rid of the International Date Line? That's more confusing than DST.

You might want to rethink that one.. The day has to change SOMEWHERE, genius.

  4. People still change clocks? How...peculiar. The computers and phones take care of themselves, and those are the only clocks I use these days....

Oh look.. Another moron who thinks everyone in the world only has clocks that synch to NTP servers.

So no clock on your stove? No clock in your car? No clock on the microwave? What about the coffee maker? Or are you one of those idiots who thinks having a Mr. Coffee, that is part of a botnet, is a good idea?

I'd be willing to bet that the vast majority of the world still has clocks that are adjusted manually.. And yes, wristwatches are still a thing. They may not be quite as ubiquitous as they once were, but there are still tens/hundreds of millions of them out there.

You can take your IoT and cram it.. If I didn't have to adjust the clock on the coffee maker 2x a year.... FOR NO DAMN GOOD REASON...

  5. You're an idiot. Lots of people get up BEFORE dawn to go to work. Asshole.

Humans, like many animals, do much much better when we have consistent sleep/wake times. Our bodies function on rhythms. Sure, in an ideal world you'd wake up when the sun comes up.. That time would only change by a minute or two each day as we progress through the seasons. Nice and gradual.

Instead, in our modern world, we get slammed with an hour change to that schedule twice a year. That change is 30x greater than what nature/evolution has programmed us for..

  6. No one cares about this, at all. I've never heard anyone, ever, complain. Never.

You don't think anyone cares about DST? You're delusional.

Every goddamn year we have to go through this bullshit twice. At least in CA we're gonna vote on it in a few days. The solution is stupid as hell, as we aren't really voting on it.. The Proposal is for permanent summer time, which I highly doubt the Feds will approve. And since it's contingent on Federal approval, it's probably not going to happen. But, I'd be willing to bet it passes by a landslide. People are sick and tired of this stupid fucking system. And if you don't think it results in a lot of wasted work hours....

These are just the latest changes regarding DST:

    - Morocco switched to permanent +01 on 2018-10-27.
    - Volgograd moved from +03 to +04 on 2018-10-28.
    - Most of Chile changes DST dates, effective 2019-04-06.

Constant fucking with clocks...... For ABSOLUTELY NO BENEFIT.

No technical reason to care about DST??? WHAT THE FUCK? Have your factory or supplier in a different part of the world? How the hell are you supposed to know what time it is there if the goddamn clocks are always changing..

Not to mention the fact that there are probably millions of clocks in use that have no auto-update mechanism and have to be adjusted by hand. I have two in my house (stove and alarm clock). And no, I'm not interested in IoT clocks.. Thanks.. I'd rather not have my alarm clock end up as part of a botnet.

All of this fucking effort for nothing...

Jesus H. Christ..... This is common sense....

  9. I'm not a SJW, but need to correct you. Phenotype and external genitalia do not match up 100% of the time. There are extremely rare cases where an XX individual may have a penis. An XY individual may lack a penis. There are individuals with genetic defects which give them 3 chromosomes instead of 2 (Downs Syndrome being the most common). So-called "super males" are XYY.

Okay, I'll accept all of that as legit, but you're taking this to the extreme.. What percentage of the population is affected by those super rare cases you mentioned? 0.01%? My statement was valid in the context of the population. I don't have any hard and exact numbers, but I think it's reasonable to assume that XY and XX chromosomes present themselves, with matching genitalia, correctly in.. what? 99.99% of cases?

We don't have the time or the resources to bend society around the needs of 0.01%. Now, I'm not saying we persecute them or anything like that. Tolerance is fine.. But that's not what's happening in these movements.. If the percentage of crippled people, in the general population, was 0.01% would it still be reasonable to make businesses build chair ramps and put in special parking places? I'd argue the answer to that is no. Well, the same is true with a tiny percentage of people who have these defects you mentioned. Society should not have to bend to their needs. That doesn't mean we deny them the basics, it just means we don't run around expending energy to pass special laws for them.. It's too small of a population. A society cannot, in my opinion, function if it's constantly dealing with micro populations. Too much energy is expended for too small of a return.

I understand that is probably not going to be viewed as a popular opinion by the bleeding heart crowd, but..too bad.

  10. I already qualified my statement.

  11. ..... He hasn't built any walls, .....

    That's not entirely true..

    https://nypost.com/2018/06/02/trumps-border-wall-breaks-ground-in-san-diego/

Technically you are correct, insofar as it's not done (built), but it is under construction...

  12. Easy peasy.....we're talking a VERY small minority of people in the world that have these issues.....why should the majority get all bent out of shape for this insignificant number of people outside the norm?

I really don't care what an adult does, or two consenting adults do....in private, but don't force the masses to cow-tow to them...there should not be special treatment for acting outside the norms. You shouldn't be persecuted for it, but you also shouldn't expect special and protected treatment in every day life either.

    Well said.

  13. Geez, what has happened to us?

As short as a decade ago, it was really easy.

    You have a pee-pee, you're male gender.

If you don't, you are female.

That was never the definition. Example: A male soldier has his genitals blown off by a mine.. He didn't automatically become a female after he was mutilated. Same is true with someone born with a birth defect.. The lack of a penis doesn't (and never did) make you a female.

The standard is, and has always been, your genetics.. XX = Female. XY = Male. End of story.

I'm sure some SJW is gonna accuse me of being a hater or some other bullshit.. But facts are facts..

"Transgender" people do NOT become the opposite sex. At best they appear to be the opposite sex to the naked eye. And honestly, I'm fine with that. If you're a male who wants to live as a female, more power to you. But don't you dare ask me to discard reality and science and consider you to be a genuine female. A male->female transgender cannot have babies, does not possess a uterus, does not have ovaries, and still has a Y chromosome in every single cell in their body (assuming a post-op trans with no testicles remaining).

I've done zero research, but I'd be willing to bet a few bucks that obesity started ticking up the day after TV was invented.

I'm not arguing or even suggesting it be banned (freedom, personal choice, etc etc). But, it's crap. So.. I'd say the benefit of cutting TV is the possibility of a longer and healthier life.. It's also a propaganda box for consumerism and politics.. But that's another story..

So, if they offer two services for the exact same price, but one costs them a bunch of money.. then I'd argue that they are overcharging for the internet option.

so thank you to all the fucking 'cord cutters' that raised the rates for everybody else.

Are you really making the argument that by not having cable TV, I'm responsible for your prices?

You should work in the Federal Government. Yeah, a while ago they made the argument that basically boiled down to "farmers who don't sell their products across state lines are depriving the interstate market of goods and thereby affect the prices of goods in other states. Thus, they are open to regulation under the commerce clause." SCOTUS agreed...

    Your mentality is equally retarded.

  17. The settlement's payouts included a $5,000 award for each of the three named plaintiffs.......The remaining $5.3 million was divvied up among six universities and organizations pledging to put the money towards improving internet privacy.

I.e. the 3 regular people who actually were involved in this case did get something. All of the other "class members" did nothing. Well, they probably filled out an online form.. But that was the extent of their involvement (most likely).

It's not like the lawyers walked away with most of the money. Looks like they took about 30%, which is a very standard practice. I think we can safely assume none of you fuckers has the resources (deep pockets) to sue GOOGLE.. So if you want to limit the lawyers to 10% (which is a shitty return on a labor intensive investment) who are you going to find who has the ability to fund lawsuits against mega corporations?

As has been previously pointed out.. These lawsuits are about correcting bad practices. The lawyers do ALL the work, they front ALL of the costs, and they take on ALL of the risks....

Look, I hate lawyers as much as anyone.. But sometimes they are a necessary evil. If they are going to front 100% of the risk, I don't have a problem with them collecting 33% of the payout.

Would you share profits with a business partner who did zero work and invested zero money? Of course you wouldn't...

Well, that's what most class action lawsuits are like.. 99% of the class members fill out a form and do absolutely nothing else. They risk nothing besides their ability to sue, independently, later..

Lastly... A constitutional amendment? WTF? Why wouldn't you just ask for a federal law? You want to clutter up that document with bullshit like payout ratios?

If you started a business and took all the risk, fronted all the capital, and did all the work, would you want to be limited, by law, to 10% profit margin?

Well.. According to the story the restaurant in question, Firehouse, has seen its revenue increase by 7% this year. So.. that's something. If, because of the service, this restaurant can sell more meals and collect more profit/revenue that it has tables for that is a good thing.. Traditionally once all your tables are full you're kinda stuck.. You can't take on new customer until one leaves. This seems to get around that problem.

As for the middlemen.. Well, if a place doesn't even have tables/chairs for patrons, then I'd guess that the cost of the middle man is more than compensated for by not spending the money on wages for servers, buss boys, and a hostess. All you have to pay for is cooks and maybe someone to package up the orders..

These trends aren't going away any time soon. We'll just have to learn to deal with them. Besides, it's probably a bit of a fad. I've ordered home food delivery a few times but, generally speaking, when I go to a restaurant it's because I want to go OUT. Being at home gets boring. You have to break it up a little bit here and there with time elsewhere.

You pick up a shotgun with birdshot. Effective range of perhaps 50 yds. Put some drywall in the way and you lessen the kill radius significantly. A pistol round (.38, .357, whatever) is going to treat drywall in pretty much the same way that an AR-15 round will.. yeah, the AR-15 round will travel a lot further, but if you're worried about killing a neighbor you use a shotgun.

  24. Really? You think a piece of shit .38 is a viable self defense weapon in CA? A state that has made it nearly impossible to get a CCW permit? Nobody here carries for self defense. We can't.
