  1. Holy $hit! on ATI Releases New Linux Drivers · · Score: -1, Troll

Oh my God stop the presses ATI actually realized there is another OS besides Windows!! Yeah I know I'll get modded down for this, but ATI's history with driver releases puts me shock at this anouncement....

  2. Nothings Keeping Me Anymore! on What's Keeping You On Windows? · · Score: 3, Interesting

Nada! As soon as my new parts arrive (I'm waiting for after the holiday season), I'm building a straight RH 7.3 (skip 8.0) or Mandrake based system, with a subscription to Transgaming's software, OpenOffice and KDE 3.1. Windows, my wife can keep that box!

P.S. As for the reason this message is posted from Windows, I'm at work..as with most Slashdotters I'm sure have workplaces that still use Windows.

IS this settlement good or bad for the webcasters? Personally I'm of the mind that radio by defination is free promotion, the webcasters should be charging for it.

  4. Enforcement? on EU Anti-Hate Laws On The Web · · Score: 1

What will be interesting to see is how they wil lenforce those laws in America, seeing as how we seem to want to enforce our laws over there, it would only be fair.

  7. DO SOMETHING !!! on Musicians vs. RIAA At USA Today · · Score: 1

Just that people, I love the Slashdot community, but I'm dying to ask how many of you call your Congressmen, and/or write your Senators? (if you're in the US anyway). Take a minute, $1.11 (for postage) and jot down your opinions in a non-rant way. And if you need to who represents you, http://www.congress.gov and http://www.senate.gov remember if you don't tell them your opinion, you don't have one.

P.S. It' "Honorable " for their title.

  8. I've seen the screenshots.. on Red Hat Explains Stance on KDE/Gnome Desktop Changes · · Score: 1

And I can see why the KDE, Gnome teams would be pissed.. though it's a great idea for business, it's a terrible one for the teams that worked so hard to create their products.
These products are two different apps, from two different mindsets. In the least RedHat should offer people who install their new desktop to choice to have a "Unified" or "Standard" Option... that would be fair.

There's a difference between an Opensource developer and a 37Billion dollar company. If the differences aren't obvious, you're missing something. M$ has an moral and possibly legal obligation to provide a fix for their product(s).

Oh yeah, trust the people who've historically (and currently) had no idea on security to come up with a security standard, and while you're at it why don't you hand you house keys over to that convicted thief for safekeeping.

All I need are my games and I'm done with M$

  13. What Americans did They Interview for this? on Want Freedom? · · Score: 1

They must have found all the illiterate Americans for this study, no thinking man, woman or child would give up the rights we've fought for all these years. Of course, it could all be in how the phrased the questions. Leading questions make for known answers. Let's no lose sight of exactly what we're fighting for, our way of life, which includes those very freedoms only the stupid want to toss away. Remember people vote, and don't vote Republican.

"The law is not code to find bugs in. The law is not stupid. "

Of course it it, what do you think lawyers make their stock and trade in? Finding the holes in the laws and teaking advantage of them. It's how coporate lawyers keep cases in the courts for decades, denying commoners justice. This just returns the favor.

  16. Missing the Point on Can Newspapers Save Local Music? · · Score: 5, Insightful

You've clearly missed the point, all bands start out as local bands, only blind dumb luck gets them to stardom, ..that or they're created. Otherwise do you think Backstreet Boys, NKOTB or N'Sync would've ever seen the light of day? No. This gives musicians everywhere an avenue to be heard on the cheap, by everyone, what more publicity could one ask for? It's a great idea and I'm thrilled to see it in action.
