The bigger issue on privacy is not so much that the little darlings are being invaded, it's that everyone around them is as well.
The people in earshot of him/her never consented to that.
If there is a condition that they attend a recovery support group or any other place that implies confidentiality, they will be violated. This could cause actual legal issues. HIPPA (sp?) privacy laws are taken *very* seriously.
Somehow, I suspect if this gets support by businesses then everyone will suddenly find themselves to be part-time workers. Now you don't get any benefits. Aww, too bad......

I don't think that applies here. Aren't Uber drivers dispatched through a cellphone app? I know Lyft is but I haven't taken Uber. (Lyft is always cheaper for my trips.)
If they apply a knee-jerk broad brush "fix" by default, they aren't fixing anything. They are just forcing the drivers to decide if they would be willing to break the law in order keep their job.
A better solution would be a mandatory agreement to limit the apps they can use on the job our risk penalties.
I'm not sure but isn't creating a new branch of the military (with all the command, administrative and support staff and resources) rather than a new command in the U.S. Air Force a LOT more expensive? They could handle it like the U.S. Army Air Corps which was later spun off to its own branch when it got large enough.

Your staff's paychecks missed the bank's deadline for direct deposit? All the ATM's around the capital are offline due to inadequate bandwidth? Aww, poor baby. Now you know how the folks that elected you into office are impacted by these "incredible" laws to make Amurrica grate again.
Once their grandkids start bitching them out for screwing up their Netflix and video games, they might wake up and quit imposing unworkable standards on free enterprise.

Imposing a standard that takes no one's future needs into consideration is even worse than a goal to increase speeds by a future deadline, however lofty you feel they may be. The speeds targets are there for a reason, to allow for future innovation by future start-up businesses which will utilize that bandwidth. By the time that they wake up, realize the mistake and start planning improvements to the network, the growing pains will be horrendous and way more costly.
Sort term savings in exchange for upgrades that are way, way more expensive down the line. But what do they care, they will sell off their stock in these companies before then. That will be someone else's problem.
They can test this theory and also put peoples fears to rest by having all the airlines fund a test fleet.
All the airlines cover the cost of a small fleet of planes that are autonomous, but not carrying public passengers. They can prove that it is safe by flying in real world weather conditions year round, which are recorded up the ying-yang to data recorder servers for the study of issues that arise used to train AI's for future flights through updated to the rest of the fleet.
But that would be only one side of the coin. They should install high capacity data recorders in piloted planes now so the AI can see how the HUMAN pilots reacted and resolved issues that never was considered by the manufacturers and programmers, etc.
It's not an easy thing to develop and confidence will not be given to it until it has a lot more experience under its belt so they can actually prove it's not as insane as it sounds.
