here's the thing though, they keep pushing thousands upon thousands of takedown notices, quite a few that are illegitimate upon these ISPs. They have to act on them or face losing common carrier status. Even if acting on them is stating "We looked, no infringing content found, go away" However, because they aren't the *AA, they will be dragged into court if they are found to be lying/mistaken, unlike the *AA when RightsCorp lies/"mistakes" for them.

I'd still like to know what ever happened to U.S. Cellular though? I had them years ago and thought they were a pretty respectable regional carrier. As far as I know, they owned their own towers and all that ... just not nationwide. But it seems like they suddenly changed direction and shrunk their footprint, having about the same status today as any of these second tier carriers who use the major carriers' infrastructure? It seems to me they had a real shot at replacing a carrier like Sprint, for a long time.

USCC is just resting on their laurels. They just rolled out VoLTE quietly. It doesn't even work on all their handsets. They rolled out "Unlimited" data... if your version of "Unlimited' is a T1. (1.5Mbit/sec). Even with the speed cap, they had the 22GB usage cap that knocked you down to 1X speeds. I'd be with T-mobile right now if it wasn't for the massive discount I have with USCC and the coverage that USCC has.

Well, if you point a gun at someone, then pull the trigger, that is premeditation.

Unless the SWAT officer left the station "OH BOY I GET TO KILL SOMEONE TODAY!!!!" it's not premeditation. They are trained to be quick with the trigger because if they aren't, they may be the ones dead. Add adrenaline and stress to the mix and the trigger finger may get a little too quick, which is what happened here.

... But, at the same time, there has to be the issue of the gun obsessed violent society.

That and the fact that the local police are becoming more militarized. I get it, Chicago may need a SWAT team or two, but podunkville police with a town population of 10k doesn't need an armored assault vehicle.
