He just described it incorrectly. You don't have to be a douche about it. It ionizes a small area of the air, creating a 'plasma field' (their words) that disrupts the shock wave.
I didn't do anything of the sort. It 'doesn't necessarily' disqualify an applicant is all I said. It does not. The converse of that is it also often does.
It is not illegal to deny employment on the basis of criminal background. That's the very reason so many employers do background checks. It doesn't necessarily disqualify a person but it certain can be used in the decision making process.
Few if any corporations have ethics. They generally (not always) do what is legal, but not necessarily what is ethical, and almost never what is morally correct. They exist for one purpose and that is to make a profit.
It is GPL so they really couldn't sell it to anyone anyways. They could I suppose but it would be meaningless and a foolish move on anyone who would shell out the money for it.
Exactly. I can notice the difference between 1080p and 4k, but said difference is so small that I'm not about to buy a new 60" TV and the coming HD-Bluray yet. Hell, people are just now really starting to even buy standard BluRay. I really doubt this will take off anytime soon. When it does and it makes sense then I'll upgrade. Right now 1080p on my 60" is a fantastic experience that I don't see being worth money to 'upgrade'.
I guess it's a YMMV thing. I won't call them terrible, and obviously they put a lot of work into them, but I just can't watch them. I've tried. I haven't been able to make it more than ten minutes.
Only in their own minds, really. The only ones who are really 'stars' are the ones that land gigs other than YouTube using the latter as a springboard.
Right, because the average consumer wants to look even dorkier than having glasses with an obvious camera on them. They definitely want one with a cable running down to a fanny pack battery.
One of the threats they are investigating was a threat to shoot up a school. If you don't think that's worthy of investigation and ultimately punishment (terroristic threats are a crime, you know) then you need a reality check.
Bullshit. Willfully ignoring the law is a crime and should be treated as such. They are obstructing justice and destroying evidence in most of these cases. Those are crimes. At the very least they are in contempt of court.
Nobody forces you to use gmail or Facebook though. To you they are a free 'service' but they really aren't a service to you. That's just the carrot. You are the product they sell. Don't want them to have any information about you? Don't use them. I don't use Facebook for that very reason, and I use my gmail for innocuous things and as my spam catcher account. My choices.
Want your email to be as private as possible? Stand up your own server or use a paid service that you think you can trust. Don't want Facebook using any data it collects on you? Great, me either! So don't use it.
It is just another example of shoddy tech/science journalism, to use the latter term loosely. Sensationalism gets people to click.

Grumpy? Not at all. You wouldn't want to see that; nobody does :)
It's just an example of a solution looking for a problem and thus opening the doors to more potential problems.
I'd rather make my own security decisions. I don't need the 'AI' in my phone deciding if it's me or not.

The AC was making an ignorant reference to the fact that Zachary Quinto, the new Spock, is gay.
Then he wouldn't have posted anonymously, if he motives were how people perceived him and his legacy. Your comment was less than helpful.
Well to be fair they also do it very politely when they kill anyone.

If someone takes out their phone and starts to record you having dinner with a friend would you be upset? At least you'd know about it.
You stand up and walk around for a few minutes once every 45 minutes to an hour, that's what you do.
I guess it's a YMMV thing. I won't call them terrible, and obviously they put a lot of work into them, but I just can't watch them. I've tried. I haven't been able to make it more than ten minutes.

Eww...that makes Bieber a YOUTUBE STAR!!!
The police aren't even involved in copyright cases.

Which is why you shouldn't say a word until you consult with an attorney.
There is no such thing as Comcast-Time Warner yet. It's still a proposed merger and may or may not even get approval.

I already do all of my banking from a VM that *only* does my banking.
That whooshing sound you heard was not a comet passing over your head, it was the joke.
