The goal isn't to vote for who you think will win, you don't get points for picking the right one.
While I follow the same methodology when voting as you espouse, it's not either of our places to tell anyone what the 'goal' of voting is. People can and should vote for whomever they want for whatever reason they want. Do I think someone is stupid if they vote for someone based on the color of their tie? Yes. Do I fully support their right to do so? Yes again.
It's the Democrat party, not the Democratic party, but that's a common mistake people make. Ironic that the party that claims to champion Democracy relies on party elders to choose their Presidential Candidate (Superdelegates).
Other than calling the populace 'bloody sheep' there was no name calling. There was certainly no distortion. He hit the nail on the head with regards to Obama.
You are making a mountain out of a molehill. There is no reason a standalone utility couldn't be distributed for free that works with any of those platforms.
MS also couldn't use GPL code in their OS without issues. It works both ways. MS didn't have to releases these specs at all. I'm glad they did; it's a step in the right direction. No need to be politically militant about it.
Exactly. It's all about balance, and neither Google nor MS are well balanced in that regard. One is almost entirely engineering driven, the other almost entirely marketing driven.
I was speaking more as to what *I* would do were I running an oil company, especially given the constant attacks on them and general bad PR. I never said it should be subject to a price cap or some sort of regulatory action to limit margin.
I'm not sure I see the logic that oil companies shouldn't make *any* profit. Should the margins be lower given the HUGE volume they sell and the necessity of their product? Sure. No profit at all? Nah.
Sure they can distribute it; they just need to license it in that case if it's for profit. Your issue is a non-issue. If someone wants to distbute free tools to work with these formats they are free to do so. If they want to make money they have to license it. I see no problem with that. It's not like they took an RFC and patented it.
Don't give them any pictures then and don't let them take any. Or wait...here's a radical idea...ask them nicely to not post pictures of you online. If they are really your friends they'll respect that.
Making a bad decision is one thing. Recognizing that bad decision and listening to your customer base is another, and admirable in this day and age when fewer and fewer companies seem to care at all about the people they service.
Sounds like racketerring in a sense. IANAL, but I wonder if an ambitious prosecutor somewhere could use the RICO statues instead of anti-trust statutes.
Didn't you hear? Because of all the jailbroken iPhones the CEO of AT&T had to cut back to only THREE buckets of caviar a month instead of the six he normally enjoyed.
How is that informative? It's just plain wrong as others have already pointed out, and it gets modded Informative? Heh.

Bashing Vista has become like pouring hot grits on Natalie Portman around here. It's just a meme anymore. It was funny for awhile but now it's just old.
Vista really isn't all that bad. I still have XP machines (and Linux, and OS X, and Solaris, and OS/2 even) but I don't mind my Vista machine at all. I also run a lot of old apps on it just fine.
The Government can already track every modern mobile phone out there. It was a requirement so that (ostensibly) 911 can find you if you're in trouble and call for help but can't tell them where you are. The only way to be untrackable unless you have a truly ancient phone is to turn it off, and if you're really paranoid take the battery out.

I guess the sarcasm was too subtle. There's much that's democratic about EITHER party anymore.

From GP: Only two extensions too, adblock and flashblock.
Reading is fundamental.
I'm still waiting for people to blame it on Bush. Maybe he made a time machine? I mean...they blame everything else on him, might as well this too.
I'm not sure I see the logic that oil companies shouldn't make *any* profit. Should the margins be lower given the HUGE volume they sell and the necessity of their product? Sure. No profit at all? Nah.
He isn't a politician. He's never run for office. Aside from that you've got him nailed.

I prefer the terms Demoncrats and Repugnantcans.

BFG 9000 for me please.

Any lawyers familiar with RICO want to chime in?
*whoosh*
It was a joke...I don't blame AT&T. If we're going to wax serious on the topic, I blame Apple.
It's OK if Apple restricts freedom around here, didn't you know that?
I'd say 'You must be new here' but I've seen you posting since the beginning, Mr. Anonymous Coward.

I am not so sure.
1. People see on the forums how so and so got 'hacked' and lost their stuff.
2. Same people see ad for new security keyfob
3. Profit
Because tobacco should be sold over a store counter and not from machines. Problem solved.
