ARM made a clockless chip in 1994 for cellphones. Couldn't find an amazing reference, but a quick google turned up http://www1.cs.columbia.edu/async/misc/technologyr eview_oct_01_2001.html where they briefly mention it... The last time I heard of this stuff being used was in 2001-- I actually wrote an English paper about it purely to see if I could bore my professor:-p
I think I know what you mean, but I also know people who spout off random facts-- and sometimes it can annoy me to no end. Perhaps you do like sharing knowledge; just be sure that others enjoy HEARING random knowledge... Some of us enjoy being blissfully ingorant!
I've got a dolby digital receiver and last time I checked (I used to have a modded xbox) there were a lot of problems getting dolby digital output in XBMC. Any news on that front??
Actually, when I got half-life, I was running on a k6-II 400 with a voodoo 2 and the game looked awesome-- I had everything maxed out and still had a nice framerate. I think you might be doing something wrong....
Wow, that's a pretty far out statement, but I really like the stuff about reading books your don't agree with, etc.... I'm from the bible belt and get so sick of all the people who have beliefs (which is fine), but have them for no apparent reason. In other words, they refuse to even look at other ideas, etc (purportedly because their beliefs are so strong, which I think doesn't make since). Ok, I'm done ranting....
Just for the record, if you look (and I mean look just about anywhere), you can get 7200 RPM IDE drives for around and just under 50 CENTS a gig. So come on, compare building a 400 DVD changer plus the price of burning the actual DVD's (not to mention the enormous amount of time) with that of making a nice RAID 1.5 (or ever just striped RAID, since you obviously don't care much for speed....) setup...
Why would you possibly buy something like that when you can get a Dell laptop for 799 that has a 2.3 GHz P4 Celeron with a ton more stuff.....oh and an included 2MP camera and ok printer.....
I love when I hear about people trying to get rid of the mouse. I like it, but I feel much more handy using the keyboard and shortcuts. Hurray to you, sir!
Webcrawler to return from the dead....well, maybe not...
I guess not everything can have a vintage comeback, eh?
Since nobody else has posted this yet.....

I guess since none of the people lacking senses of humor haven't said it, I will.

There, does that sound ok? Why am I being so bitter today.....?
Geez, I remember that... I got excited when I went out and bought a 'sweet' decoder card so that I could watch those new things...what were they called? oh yeah-- VideoCd's!
get around the cap they've put on kazaa/morpheus traffic? At my school (Clemson) we aren't limited for web or ftp transfers, but they've significantly slowed down file-sharing stuff (to the point where downloads happen at a blazing 10k/sec). Is there anything I can do? Oh well, maybe I'll pull out my nice C64 300 baud modem in the meantime....

NTSC is 60Hz, just so you know.... Not sure about all your other 'facts' though

Didn't you read the article? It says... "a 1.1 million mega pixel camera" I mean, come on, could that get any better?
My thoughts exactly.
Hello, the modem was built in-- you only had to add the network card! And people said the Dreamcast wasn't any good..... haha

haha, I love /. people that don't quite understand...what's it called? oh yeah, humor :p
