Its called the grsecurity patch and consists of a whole bunch of seperate security enhancements to the linux 2.4 kernel including randomizing sequence numbers and ttl's.
Be careful though, some of the option change the assumed behavior that other programs rely on. For example kde will not run with some of the options.
The patch in included by default in the gentoo kernel but it is up to the user to enable it. The install docs gives a number of recommondations about which options to enable.
Scene 1) Dark sky. Scene 2) Light sky. Scene 3) Dark sky.
They were filmed 2 1 3 but aired 1 2 3.
The only reason to show them out of order is if they are running late and needed to rearrange the scenes to compensate.
The reference to one hour left in scene 2 filmed when they were one hour from the scheduled completion time. The scene was placed in the final edit when they were one hour from the actual completion time. Unfortunately this messed up the continuity between scenes 1 and 2.
There was one show (I don't remember which one but it was this season) where everyone was behind. They showed a scene with a team feverishly working with a black sky in the background. Cut to the hosts speculating if they were going to finish in the one hour remaining with a bright sky in the background. Cut back to the teams magically finishing on time with a black sky in the background.
I think they do a little 'editing' in order to allow the teams to finish or it wouldn't be much of a contest.
Gentoo is a very up to date version of linux. Most of the packages available are the latest stable versions. Installing from an cd means the next 'emerge world' will end up downloading lots of packages as it updates your system. The older the install cd the more downloading to be done. That would defeat the purpose of loading everything from cd in the first place.
I have no use for bytes or words, they just take up too much room in my special carryng case (my bit bucket). Besides I can assemble any byte or word that I desire with just a little work and it really cuts down on inventory.
Historically proprietary encryption schemes have faired badly in the market (RSA and RCx being possible exceptions). Why would any one want to pay to use a encryption method when there are so many free and effective alternates. If its not free few will use it, if few use it then there is little incentice for anyone to use it.
Since when has that ever made a difference to the slashdot crowd? There has always been some that are willing to jump in and comment without actually reading the story.
I run ntpd on my firewall machine and set it to broadcast over the local network once a minute.
The local machines run a small (64k) utility called K9 which listens for the broadcast and sets the time accordingly. I found most time clients for windows were very large and much to bloated for what I wanted to do. K9 works perfectly. There is even source code available for your favorite flavour of *NIX
(I guess the clever cracker could have disassembled my windows binary with a z80 disassembler and gotten lucky; but it would have been hard to see what was being executed - unless they could do clever things like disassemble z80 in their head...)
No. A clever hacker would just patch the code to ignore the return value of your registration routine.
Microsoft spokesman Jim Desler said that the company has always maintained that
no remedy is in order, and the provisions outlined in the federal settlement
go as far as the company is willing to go.
Why does Microsoft keep acting like this is a negotiation between equals. They LOST,
the court has a right to impose any settlement that it deems fit irregardless of what Microsoft wants. Now if both sides could agree on a settlement if would result in a much quicker settlement without the endless appeals, but Microsofts approval of the settlement is NOT necessary or even desirable.
I am really getting tired of Microsofts attitude towards this whole trial. Take your lumps and move on.
The article states that the silicon wafer is melted briefly by a laser. Considering that the silicon wafers are actual single crystals, wont the melting and re-solidification of the silicon alter the properties of the wafer.
So instead of having a single crystal we could end up with many small crystals aligned along the features that we are creating. I am not sure how much the creation of semiconductors is dependant on having a single crystal, but if it is dependant then this new technique may not be that useful after all.
The real question is do you plan to use OpenMosix to fork across mutiple hosts in order to reduce the normal runtime. By using 9 hosts you can reduce the runtime to 1 month.
Of course trying to admin 9 hosts simultaniously might be difficult.
I love the Idea, however I suspect that this will be one of those movies that I refuse to watch because of the fond memories I have of the original.
Starship Troopers and the new Grinch are are just two examples of movies that I will not watch because they were not true to the original. And its hard because my kids own and love the new Grinch, I end up leaving the room whenever they start to watch it.
Unfortunatly there is non-free software included in the Xandros desktop so posting all the binaries is a no no.
No. You are only obligated to make the sources available to those who receive/buy the binaries.
As a good citizen of the open source community you should feed your patched upstream but you are not required to.

No you seem to miss the point.

I wonder if this is the same Val Mallinson referenced in this usenet post.
If she is she has clearly been using windows since 98.

Lots and lots of bits, half 0's and half 1's.

The report was originally discussed here
But the sources are available.
Just type emerge kde-3.1_beta2 and it will download, compile and install automatically.
Simple (even if a little time consuming)
But much of the samples given were hand written in assembly, there is no compiler involved.

Shouldnt that be:
"I see that you are swearing, would you like to use a thesaurus"
At up to 3 lbs per bird per day a flock of geese camped out on your yard make a disgusting mess.
I think we should rent a helicopter and spread birdseed.

Pi isn't different for different geometries, its just the series converge slower for the higher dimentions.
The only way pi could be different was if space itself was not "flat" but curved.
It seems to be slashdotted, lets try the Google cache

Wasn't Colonel James Bass a charactor in a Clive Cussler novel?
The timeline strikes me as being a little optimistic, considering the difficult nature of the problem.
