I am also in class and I have had no problems with speed or crashes at all; 60GB drive, 512MB of RAM, 12inch screen and the best Video card/resolution of any Tablets currently on the market. Your best bet will be to check out TabletPCBuzz.com and do some research. It is quiet so it does not interrupt class, and the M200 comes with Microsoft Office OneNote which is IMHO the best note taking program out there.

Nowadays, they are more invasive, but that is only the software companies trying to push the limit to see how far we will bend over and take it.
As for getting a new muffler, you can rebuild a computer and put in about 75% new components and Windows XP wont even ask you to re-register. And the Windows Re-Registration hot-line is very easy, and I have never had a problem with them.

Even losing 300 million in this particular segment, Microsoft made nearly 3 Billion in profit from Office and Windows. Microsoft is in this for the long run, they are not going to shutdown XBox just because of a growth in operating loss. As a previous poster said, the only thing this points to is an increase in sales. If you are losing $100 per item, and you sell 100 items then you have a loss of $100,000. If you are losing $100 per item and you sell 1,000,000 then you have a loss of $100,000,000. I realize that is overly simplistic, but the point is that I think Microsoft probably views this increase in operating loss as a good thing.

You are comparing apples to oranges. You are arguing that to an individual, cheap/available hardware is not a deciding factor for new cars. You are probably right. Just because a Hyandai is cheap and available, most individuals will not purchase it, they go for style. Corporations on the other hand go for cheap & available. Corporations are all about profit. Show me some US corporations that have fleets of BMW or Mercedes. Corporations will purchase Hyundais because they are cheap and available. In the same vein, Individuals may purchase MacOS because it is "better." Corporations will purchase Windows because it is cheaper. Windows runs on their existing hardware, Windows works with their existing systems. MacOS does not. MacOS requires new hardware, new third-party software (usually), retraining. Once a company is converted to Mac's, is the TCO actually any lower than that of Windows?
We have seen plenty of graphs and studies saying that the TCO of Linux is better than that of Windows, but in order for Linux to truly take over the desktop, and for Microsoft to truly begin to lose its minority position, businesses must begin to accept alternative OSes. I do not have any figures to back this up, but I am willing to stake my reputation on the fact that Microsoft could become a solely B2B vendor and still maintain a Monopoly position in the market.
Under the GPL they only have to release the source to the people that they release the binaries to. If you pay the $99 then you get the binaries and the source, but without paying the $99 you don't get anything.

I agree with the parent post on this. No one is in a for-profit business for the betterment of mankind. They do it to fatten their pockets. You just hope that they appreciate that doing quality work, and excelling in your field is the way to long term success. Marketing will always work in the short term, but eventually people begin to see through the wool, we hope.
Ease of install, and massive autoconfiguration. Mandrake is probably the most newbie friendly linux distro available. During the install you answer questions that are easy to understand (similar to a windows install process), and Mandrake just does the rest from there. I have had Mandrake install drivers for several sound cards, network cards, and video cards that I could not get RedHat or slackware to recognize. It also has one of the slickest installs I have seen.
This of course can be pretty trying at times for more advanced Linux users. Mandrake defaults an install without telnet, ssh, or ftp servers, and a High Security firewall. Mandrake is geared more towards a workstation machine, so if you are looking to run a server you will have some work to do after the install.
