not really, I know plenty of companies in my area that use *nix based operating systems on all there machines.
"MacOS X is the only usable unix based desktop solution"
Really... last time i checked i could use BSD or Linux with X just fine, it did all the things I required it to do (read email, im, web browse, program).
But i see that I am wrong, i thank you for pointing out the error in my ways. Now that you informed us all that there is no hope in any way for any other operating system besides windows, maybe we should just erase all copies of the linux and bsd kernels, and just keep shelling out $ to M$.
It may be unethical to you, but maybe someone else does not agree with you. I personally think that more advancedments need to be made in this field. We eventually will be able to clone specific things which are needed. The ethical reasons out of cloning never seemed to bother me that much, then again, i was never really against abortion, in my oppinion it is a good thing to have..... just my 2 cents.
real hardware? I never said anything about the hardware I was running. I am running on an athlon 1.1 ghz with 256mb of ram. More than enough to run linux. Mandrake 8.1 could be classified as bloatware, to some people this could be useful, it wasn't to me. Compared to LFS, its a snail.:-)
I was reffering to the span from when he made the movie, and 2001. Just take a few minutes to think about it. We have sitting in our closets (286's and 386's) which would have been considered godly back then. Their are many advances which we have made in the past 4 decades.
well, since the ipaq runs a microsoft os by default, i would bet that no one will be taking the time to port it to linux. On the other hand, handhelds that run the palm OS *seem* to be more widley used by the linux community than a handheld powered by MS, so I would expect that demanding for linux syncing software would be higher.
I can see you havn't been reading anything on NTFS latley. Do you know what *usually(not always)* happens when you write to an NTFS partition under linux?.... things go wrong. The whole filesystem can get corrupted. ReiserFS or EXT3 would be the better of the choices in my humble oppinion.
do you want to buy all new computer hardware that is compliant with the chosen security code just to comply with the SSSCA?

it is not againainst all tos. read this. http://help.broadband.att.com/subagreelease.jsp and me being a webserverving person does NOT make me a high trafic customer, its only web pages i am serving, not huge files. the real high traffic customers are the ones that run gnutella and other filesharing apps.
@home has been exactly truthful. there are still many webservers alive, sweep 24.128.176.xxx for port 80, there is a large number in there, my friends site is in there and he is right down the street. his webserver still works! them saying they can't unblock on a user basis is also a load of BS. how would these sites be working, also, how would any of there sites work at all? Everyone needs to call and complain about the port 80 blocking, or this might not ever go away. if they can unlbock 137-139 on individual accounts, they can do it with 80 too. it is not against my TOS to run a webserver, it states you can run one, but att is not responsible for any damages resulting from it. keep pestering them, eventually, this might be over with. the code red worm isn't just going to go away by blocking port 80, they NEED to send out a mass email with a link to the patch!

I use blackbox. It performed at a decent speed, but after doing LFS(linuxfromscratch) ill never go back =)
hopefully its better than 8.1 and its slowness.
we all know you have to do before you can close it with :-)

that was supposed to say "regardless of what we haven't achieved, look at all we have."
regardless of what we didn't have achived, look at what we have.

A linux handheld that can only be synced on windows.... well.. so far.
netscape 6.x browsers always seem slow...

att in eastern mass says i can run a webserver, does that give me the right to whine? :-)
