When the linux kernel boots up these days, at CPU detection time you see at least one little tux penguin icon in the top-left corner of the screen, one for each processor it finds. So in a Duron box you see one penguin, and on a 2-way dual-core Opteron machine you see a row of four penguins./proc/cpuinfo will give you the same information post-boot, but it's not as pretty.
I was just curious how many cell processors the YD Linux kernel was going to pick up. All seven that are active in the PS3 or fewer.
Great. So all Mr Ackmuhllakhmud has to do is cover his nail bomb on the sidewalk with pretty flashing lights and the authorities will just call it art and ignore it.
Just because a bomb doesn't need flashing lights or ticking clocks don't assume for a second that something fitting that description is harmless. Darwin awards aside, I'd just as soon not see you get hurt.
How quickly people seem to forget events such as the Oklohoma bombings or 9/11. Just because Cmdr Cookoo in the Whitehouse uses terrorism as an excuse to push through crazy laws to restrict our freedom doesn't mean that terrorism is not a very, very real threat. The american dream of some zero-vigilance 1950's utopia died long ago, if it ever existed. Modern ballistics and bomb chemistry have irreversibly changed the survival traits for societies.
But what if part of his job is information security, and his PHB hasn't given him the budget to do it because he doesn't believe it's all that important?
That is an interesting case that I was not aware of. But are you certain it applies here?
Does one have the "opportunity to reject the terms once [we] [have] read them"? Can we get a refund at the store if we don't agree to the terms? If not then one might have a hard time convincing a court that the licence was enforceable since no exit was provided.
Are there any jurisdictions where EULAs are actually legal? If you've paid for the software without having signed any condition-of-sale agreements with the vendor then the product is yours to do with as you please within the bounds of copyright law.
This makes EULAs about as enforceable as novelty "go directly to jail" cards.
Ah, so in addition to the Microsoft Tax we now have the Symantec Tax. Recall that your EULA requires valid licence for every singleclient machine that you ghost.
...now that the Wii is an established fixture in American living rooms...
Wait, are we still talking about the same underpowered white plastic box named after a liquid-based waste product? The one that has sold less than 2 million in the US despite being dirt cheap?
The one with at most 2 decent games and a gimmicky controller the novelty of which wears off after five minutes?
The very console that's still gathering dust at my local electronics store?
About time people around here got some perspective.

Yes that's right. Come and play, come and play. Forget about the movement.
Wikipedia slashdotted with requests for a single page, "Aqua Teen Hunger Force".

So tell me, when you boot up your kernel how many penguins do you see?
Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks.
damn! pwn3d.
Someone mod this guy up.

And here I was with a stack of Ubuntu CDs ready to hand out to anyone who bothered to turn up.
Sending the heavies around can only result in an increase in adoption of alternatives. See Ernie Ball for a case study.
Wow, how come the parent gets an instant -1 mod?
No "flamebait", "troll" or nothing.
The scary thing is his reply to the gp is the most informative one of the lot so far.

hello-linux.com ?
The PR for debian would probably tank
... tank... Debian... tank
Debian
There's a joke in there somewhere, I know it.
Damn, where's Mark Shuttleworth when we need him?
Did the cat bite off some of your fingers too?
I've been using the microwave to sterilize kitchen sponges for several years now.
And yes, the sponges are always wet. I've seen The Green Mile.

Just wanted to make sure I had that right.
Or how about some successful ones:
Guitar Hero, uh, guitar
Buzz controller
SingStar microphones
Who's up for a revolution then? Anyone?
Didn't think so.
I can afford 500 dollars, and I'd just assume be making the interest while the money sits in my bank account before giving it to the Man.
That's just as soon, you'd just as soon be making the interest while the money sits in your bank account before giving it to the Man.
to have every printer behind a dedicated Linux LPRng/CUPS server.
