Call me a naysayer, but I would put forward that ones business strategies applied in secret says more about how much of a "good guy" someone is than how much they publically give to charities for everyone to see.
What would be very impressive would be if the SEC found secret donations to worthy charities but somehow I don't think we'll be seeing that.
On what movies does DTS ship on a deparate disc? In every single DTS-capable movie I have seen (which makes up about 30-50% of all hollywood movies I've seen), it's just another menu item in the DVD menu.
For example: Dolby Digital 5.1 English DTS English Dolby Digital 2.0 English Dolby Digital 2.0 French
Of course, I live in Region 4, things might be different in your region.
Dolby Digital is good, but it's competitor, DTS is better IMHO. It already comes as standard on most home theatre systems, and many movies have been mixed with a DTS track, so it's more likely to topple DD than MP3 is.

THE ABILITY TO FRICKIN EDIT THE FRICKIN START MENU!!!
You know, like Windows 95 had all those years ago. I still have OpenOffice.org 1.0.0, OpenOffice.org 1.1.0 and OpenOffice.org 1.1.1 in my Start ("K") menu, and no obvious way of deleting them. Sure I can "Hide" them but that's like using paint to obscure a 3cm diameter rust hole.
It is where I come from. Those of us who have had any clue about Thomsons patent claims and licences has stayed the hell away from mp3 for years.
Sure, it means having to pay extra for those portable players that support ogg vorbis but you get better sound quality for the same bitrate, or (looking at it the other way) can store nearly twice as much music at the same quality.
Your post is mostly correct, but I don't recall having to heat my lighter to a few million degrees before detonating vials of the stuff in chemistry class.
I'm not sure that a lot of Free Software advocates do put RMS on a pedestal, but more his ideas.
Do you put Henry Ford on a pedestal when you sit in your mass-produced vehicle every morning? Perhaps, on some abstract level. Do you put that IP-greedy pseudo-inventor Thomas Edison on a pedestal when you turn on an electric light? I doubt it.
If RMS does turn out to be a self-serving baby-eating megalomaniac with the charm and social grace of an itchy verruca, then it's not going to change the massive impact his ideas have had on the world. His contributions to the philosophy on how software (or more broadly the illusion intellectual property) should be treated are what really matters here. Sure he wasn't the first to invent "helping your neighbour" by sharing and not keeping everything to yourself, but he certainly was one of the first to contemporise it in a computer software context.
You may as well say that we shouldn't use calculus because you disagree with the world views held by Newton and Leibnitz.
And then there's Gates. What has he contributed to software and intellectual property? Where are the fruits of his billions of dollars and years of research? Oh that's right, they're locked up tight at some facility in Redmond.
No, I don't think I'll be throwing out my Free Software ideals any time soon.
WIPO's domain dispute resolution process is severely flawed
Man, it must be Monday. I read that as: WIPO's domain name resolution process is severely flawed, and was about to go into a big long rant about how wipo.int resolves perfectly in DNS. Sure they could probably benefit from resolving to more than one IP (pun not intended), but c'mon!
After reading so many positive reviews about this game, and since it will run under the next cedega release, I was all set to buy this game.
But after seeing the way Valve treat their customers , ie like criminals, they can keep their game. Steam is a nice idea for distribution and all, but this is going too far.
Are you sure about that? In Linus Torvalds (50% auto)biography, he is introduced to some of the management of Novell, who take him of a tour of the local mormon temples.
...except that there really are entities that are actually evil, and must not be discounted as anything else.
Two prime examples at the moment are Microsoft and Allah.
Now just because somebody (Novell) goes up against Microsoft, it does not make them intrinsicly good. They might be less evil than their adversary but they aren't really that good (remember much of Novells upper management are tied up in the Church of Latter Day Saints). So perhaps it's more accurate to say 'neutral vs evil' or 'less evil vs more evil'.
But then I guess people have difficulty seeing good or bad beyond their own opinions.
Sorry, I should have been specific:
I want a menu editor for KDE that doesn't suck, and remembers your changes after you've hit 'OK'

So what's to stop you sniffing the radio waves and picking up what frequencies (or packets, I guess) make the robot do what.
Once you've got that, it's trivial to make up such a joystick yourself.
Okay so it might not be trivial if it's over a rotating encrypted channel, but then it's just a standard code-breaking problem.
Your post is mostly correct, but I don't recall having to heat my lighter to a few million degrees before detonating vials of the stuff in chemistry class.
And how long until a Shell Oil tanker 'accidentally' collides with your ship?
.... regrettable
It would be most
And that's after a slashdotting.
*sigh*
I guess the world just isn't ready for ventures like this.

When you are gaming you can't pick up your mouse and move it to the other side of the pad or the other guy kills you.
Trackballs don't have that problem.
Oh, BTW, FP!
Ack, too many TLAs!
hell, I'll replace your pirated windows for free.
Which distro would you like?

I think I'll go buy Doom3 instead.
That everybody looks at porn, and of course everybody masturbates.

Uh, I wasn't making any generalisation about Utah. I was making one about Novell.
Read up on Novells history and hiring policies sometime. It is a mormon company.
Respectfully,
Trogre

iv'd down $50,000 in gamma globulin.
But you didn't have to pay for that yourself, right?
That's what your taxes pay for (assuming you live in a 1st world country).
... or if you're using Mozilla and have set it up:
CTRL-mouse-wheel up
CTRL-mouse-wheel down
Much, much easier. And I don't know if Firefox can do it. If it can, I couldn't find any options. Possibly somewhere in about:config, I guess.
