    Perhaps it makes sense for Windows to be 64-bit only, but Linux still runs very well on older hardware.

    Example: I support Linux laptops for several people, and not one of them has a 64 bit processor. Laptops that would otherwise end up as e-waste but are still very capable of doing everything the users want once you replace the hard disk with an SSD and max out the RAM.

    Is it correct that the AMT is fully dependent on the onboard Ethernet, WiFi and 3G chips for communication?

    If so, would simply not using those chips be a suitable workaround? If so, I foresee a strong market for PCIe ethernet cards, particularly ones that don't depend on Intel drivers.

    It's worth pointing out here that if you don't use an Apple ID then you won't be able to use the App Store and, consequently, won't get security updates.

    A very courageous design decision there.

    This is a joke, right?

    Fonts on Mac OS look like crap even at high DPI, the icons are usually inflated way beyond what they should be and don't get me started on any legacy applications you might want to run on that HDPI display.

    I'll keep using XFCE thanks.

    Here is the EFF's guide on yellow dots.

    And it's not in any way limited to Xerox.

    You can test it yourself by photographing a piece of paper from a suspect printer, loading it into the GIMP and showing just the blue channel. The "yellow" dots will show up as a darker shade of blue than the surrounding page.

    Going from a custom solution with outsourced staff to a cloud based one is just going from one shitstorm to another, but with the added bonus of relinquishing all control over how it is managed.

    If they actually cared about their data they would keep redundant datacentres with competent local staff.

    Clearly they don't, so lots of luck to them.
