That's true. I'd take an AMD at a slower clock rate anyday. But when consumers learn the real speed they're going, they don't like it. I've had a bunch of people buy new AMD systems, and when I tell them what speed they're actually running at, they get skeptical and don't want to buy from AMD again, even after I explain. Consumers don't like being lied to, and for the most part, aren't as dumb as some people make them out to be.

Being a long time member of the QBasic Programming Community, I remember that as one of the best games...ever. made by M/K productions...ah, those were the days. After I blew Saget's head off, it made watching him at least a little more standable. And they say those things increase violence? Hell, it's not violent things that cause violence, it's stupid things that cause violence. But either way, I would recommend absolutely everyone going out on google and finding a copy of that game. If the source code's out, I see no reason to implant a picture of Donahue there. Or get really creative on this subject matter with a picture of Tipper Gore.

  13. Nothing makes kids less violent than religion on Violence, Video Games And Donahue · · Score: 1

I know when I'm being oppressed mentally I just like to chill and not get any frustration out. Being 15 and an atheist, I can tell you that lacking 'mass every Sunday' has yielded me no less moral than anyone else. In fact, I'm more moral than most people I know that are religious. When my parents had me (my parents are also 13 years divorced, and I'm a bastard, just so you know where I'm coming from), they made a decision to not force me to religion, to raise me secularly, in the hopes that I would find a religion, a religion would find me, or I would be whatever. My dad's an atheist, whilst my mom is a Methodist, yet I know rigth from wrong, good from bad. Go figure.

And pornography? What is wrong with porn? Name me one thing. Go on. It's degrading? These girls (95% of the time) agreed to do those things, wether their reasons were good or not. They go into it knowing what will happen. Anyone that afterwards said they didn't know, well tough shit, I guess you didn't research your decision as far in as you should've. I won't lie, I look at porn, and I always have a girlfriend that I love and loves me back. Porn has not altered the state of my mental being, even towards the opposite sex. If anything, it has made me realize how fragile a good relationship is, with all those one night stands and sex with no feeling. I've never had sex, neither has she, and we're defineately not rushing anything. But then again, you wouldn't expect that from a teenage you jsut stereo-typed the hell out of, would you?

While I will agree that broken homes play a part, and that irresponsible parents are the reason that this stuff happens, the dinner thing is bogus, as well. Because of working long and hard, many families can't have dinner like that together, because more and more, both parents work. My mom has been remarried for the past 11 years, and my step-father is a great guy. But unfortunetaly, they both work, and dinner is almost never eaten together, and is usually permeated by watching The Simpsons. Yet I'm fine, as are my little sister and little brother.

I'll also concede that those games shouldn't get into the hands of kids, but not all minors. My friends are more mature than most of the adults we know. I've been playing DooM since I was around 11 or 12 (when my parents thought I was mature enough to play) and listening to metal for as long as I can remember. Perhaps what you're looking to prevent are children--and people in general--that never test boundaries, that never question. Religion does nothing to help a sensible society. It introduces morals and ethics, but so do nursery rhymes. Go figure.

And hey, I apologize if information coming from a kid that actually lives the ways alot of people say violence comes from is contrary to popular thought and if I opened minds. No, really. I am. If you want to find me, I'll be in the confession booth, asking forgiveness from some false diety created to preach sameness and keep power where it doesn't belong.

And that was a rant, I don't believe in altering streaming conscious, so bam. There ya go. I'll probably be modded down, but hey...eff them.

  14. Not all parties evil by nature? on RIAA Sues Backbone ISPs to Censor Website · · Score: 1

Gimme a break. Maybe not originally, but any group of people eventually becomes 'evil'. It's human nature to do so, and most people can't not give in. It's impossible not to. Democrats and Republicans weren't originally bad, they ended up that way. Think about stuff before you say it, and do what I do: Don't vote federally, only vote local, because you can't get to the top without climbing the stairs.

This country's due for a revolt soon, anyway. No 'great' society has gone for more than around 200-300 years without a significant revolt. The things this country was founded on need to be followed. And I know this country was founded by white slave owners who wanted to be free, but still, what they said holds true, and ergo, it doesn't matter who they were: they were right. Every once in a while, the tree of liberty needs to be refreshed with blood. Unfortunetaly, this countries in for some huge damage. Even stupid people can see how they're being pushed around by companies that they themselves have paid for.

Don't vote libertarian, vote locally. And it's time to have a call for arms if this shit doesn't end soon. Good thing tyranny and kings ended when we broke off of England...

  18. Hmmm.... on Progress Toward Single Molecule Transistors · · Score: 1

This article is refusing to load for some reason, but I've read many articles on molecular computing before. And if this article follows the same strategy that the others did, when the current passes through the molecule, it bends, causing the other current to flow. But to me, this seems as though 'tcould be a hinderence. Think about it this way: you put millions upon millions of these things together to make a processor. But since the all rely on contortion to change state (0 to 1 and vice versa) how would they all stay together without breaking apart? Molecules have a certain amount of play, of course, but if just the right amount switch states at once, bonds could break, or it could make it impossible for other molecules to switch states. Would they be attached to something, and, if so, would the thing they're attached to cause them to not operate at top speed, if at all? Maybe you could use carbon nanotubes to secure them, because they can spring open and closed, but that would add much unneeded complexity at this point, barring even greater advances in self-assembly technology.

  22. Ah, yes, but aren't we forgetting something? on AMD To Hide MHz Rating From Consumers · · Score: 1

You might be able to overclock your Duron, but we're talking brand-spankin' new Athlon's with the Palamino core. AMD is already redesigning these mobos, bios included as well I'd imagine to prevent little Tommy Tinkerer from screwing with bus seeds and multipliers. I doubt there will be any easy way to overclock these babys, unfortuneately, less another company releases a kick-ass mobo with lotsa features, but you never know, there may be new tactics enforced on this chip to disencourage (word?) overclocking, perhaps some sort of crystal on the chip, or an array of capacitors, or even a voltmeter (you need to screw with the voltage for an ultimate tweak, and AMD knows that). Of course, just like when Intel released this one Celeron, which was jsut a Pentium III with half of the L2 cache disabled and people penciled in a line to connect it again, there will always be a way around everything. Nerds unite! We must battle for our geekdom I don't like the idea of people hiding stuff from me, the consumer, even if it is readily available elsewhere.
