I was working at Intel from 2000 - 2003, and can remember exactly when the economy started to go south. It was in the fall of 2000 (only 7 months after Bush took office)... We had just posted record earnings for the last quarter of over 8.7 Billion... and yet the same day our stock plummeted... and so did everyone elses. All of the sudden everyone realized that all this "infinite growth" crap that was flying around wasnt true. The bubble began to burst...the Do-coms began to fail... causing problems with all traditional Hi-tech companies such as Intel. It then spread into the telecom... because now nobody wanted to buy all that newly available bandwidth. Since the dot-comers were all broke now after being so overpaid... it began to have a peripheral effect on the economy in general, from food service and parking lots, to cars and housing. Then came September 11th... bringing the airline and tourism economies to their knees. Even though we have a fairly resilient economy... there were just too many sectors struggling now... and we entered a good sized recession.
The US election was in 2000, and Bush took office in January of 2001.
Either the bubble burst before he was in office (which I would tend to believe) or the bubble burst in the fall after he was in office, due to 9/11.
LilyPond is not intended for people like me. If you're less serious than I am, LilyPond is definitely not intended for you.
While I don't disagree with you, apparently the authors of Lily Pond do. Their main page and apparent slogan is "LilyPond, music notation for everyone"
I use and have registered Opera. It can look just about however you want it too.
-Check out their message board and see all the ways Opera can look. With great keyboard shortcuts, the layout can be very simple, with minimal screen space needed.
-Double click on a word or highlighting text brings up a context menu, allowing you to copy to text or note, search on, check dictionary or encyclopedia, translate the words go to a url or email someone.
Opera already has a linux-based ITV setup. You can even download an evaluation kit.
To build Opera 6 for iTV you need a development platform with the following characteristics: One of the CPUs: x86, PPC 405, StrongArm or MIPS Linux kernel version 2.4.x Tool chain: gcc 3.2 and glibc 2.2.5 QT 2.3.2 (Trolltech's QT embedded or QT on X11) dynamically linked and multithreaded On the target hardware at least 4 MB of Flash and 8 MB RAM available to Opera
Because Wal-mart has a physical presence (a store) in California, (or any other state which has a sales tax) they are required to tax the sales to people in those states.
A company like Amazon doesn't have a presence in all these states, so they have a larger loophole in this regard.
What's really funny to me is that when I go to microsoft.com with IE 4.0, they can't handle that properly, all kinds of scripting messages. Then I had problems getting to windowsupdate.microsoft.com to update the browswer to 5.5 (although that might have been the blocking software the company was using.)

If you're going to make a comment like that, at least include a link!!
This reminds me of a classmate in high school, (back in the 80's) whose family, upon scrounging up enough money to buy a vcr, became unable to pay their electric bills.

I'm terribly sorry for that, but it seemed to be the first appropriate version of the joke in ages.

I think this is probably the reason.

And, In the US, cell phones have their own prefixes, so telemarketers can tell if they're calling a wireless phone. There shouldn't be a problem.
