I disagree....so long as China's implementations keep up with TCP/IP and HTTP, they have all the compatibility they need.
Put shortly, why would they need to mantain compatibility with the original? So long as a handful of comms protocols still function to get them to the "outside" world, the nation's intranet can be as forked and/or proprietary as it wants, can it not?
You can't build a ferrari yourself for half the price.
You can build an alienware PC from parts perhaps even down to the wierd looking case (I know you can get the style they used a while back) for a fraction of the price.
Seems like a hard way of doing things...

It seems like carrying that much currency on you is a risk. Not just for mugging or the like, but just losing your wallet or something totally mundane.
I try to never carry more than 100$US on me (not a problem, i rarely have it) in cash, and pay for large purchases with a debit card
I"ve got some of those little flourescent bulbs...actually the room i'm in now is powered by two or three of them...and frankly they suck. Maybe these are juts old or not that good to begin with, but they put out a fraction of the light (and its washed yellow) than a set of incandesents would
Education: boring policies on education I don't care about. Also, wants to start some kind of mandatory community service requirement in order to graduate high school.
Wasn't aware of that one, thanks for the heads up (I think it's a ridiculous idea by the way)
Fair 'nuff. Good point, i guess, but there's no reason for that to be partisan, OR posted on an anti-RNC setting.
Why again would you post that information with a "Shut them down" and a decidedly nebulous "for other groups to do with what they will" rather than being specific about your suggestion of doing reasearch. Oh there's also that bit about posting the private info of attendees as well as delegates
However, if the REASON the nation collapses is because people are sick of hearing "long-term goals" then...what? The policy might have been golden, eventually, but what good does it do you?
My point is, you have to at least partially consider the here-and-now, because sometimes to the people you're dealing with, life is about tomrrow and next week, not five or ten years.
When I made my original comment about soliders being in a position to observe, that's the sort of thing I was referring to..."customer satisfaction", almost, i guess isn't a horrible way of putting it (and the best i an come up with)
What makes you think an economist or historian has any clue about the average iraqi's opinion on whether things are better or not (which the solider may well be more privy to, being as he has the chance to talk to them more or less every day)
However, I have trouble thinking people who are going for a 500 dollar computer are going to "throw in" a 300 dollar MP3 player on the side (for whatever reason--financial or otherwise)
At election time, how many men have stuck signs in YOUR yard, asking you to vote for _____?
None. Far as I know that's either illegal or highly frowned upon here, and signs have to be put on city owned land (first example i can come up with, margin around the railroad tracks going through town) unless you have permission of the landowner.
I realize the thing about easement and whatnot, as the town has a speedlimit sign right next to the road on the back side of our property, but that's somewhat different than a bunch of campaigners planting signs on corners
Typical sidewalk chalk doesn't take 2 weeks to dissapear though.
Furthermore campuses *allow* that to happen. There's scrawlings for clubs and whatnot (even LAN parties sometimes) all over the sidewalks at my school (a state university) but it's allowed, and you may be required to ask for permission somewhere before you do it.
The british already tried that heroin thing a while back..it didn't end well at all...

Let me know next time you work on a computer old enough to need Floppy boot disks (aka can't boot from CD or won't read CDRs)
Just because you *have* it doesn't mean it's wise to *waste* it.

You've incurred no debt, merely commited a criminal offense.
Granted I DOUBT you'd be jailed considering you offered to pay after, but technically it's shoplifting.

Regardless of architecture or whatever, if you knock 2.3Ghz off the top of the CPU speed your performance is going straight to hell.
+1 Sluggite

We don't feel the need to...spend the weekend in militias training to overthrow the government.
Most americans don't either. Nice gross generalization there, and way to connect gun ownership automatically with separatist nuts.
The sound is made by turbulence, which windmills produce. Wind is silent unless it's hitting something (your ears, buildings, trees, etc)

I didn't read anywhere that there were complaints of harassment made by any of the RNC families.
Yet.
Please give me one good reason why someone would post such information to a website frequented by opponents of the RNC.
Both.
: what if Microsoft or Sun did this? What about SCO?
I think if the payoff was good enough everyone but GPL zealots would take their fair compensation and STFU
I understand, and agree, to a point.

It seems like using a pigment that isn't permenant, BUT takes weeks to come off is deliberately pushing that boundary
