I have not head of anything for linux from the folks at XBConnect. If you have windows and you want to play halo online though, check it out, it's got the best players online. Also, we've found that for 4on4 games with 2 boxes and even with 3 boxes it's possible to play with the small upstream that a cable modem offers. It's only for much bigger games that you need to the big bandwidths/ check for our hosts Okay-Halo-Player or okiegu007
I've been working on a college campus with student users for 4 years and I've never seen of or heard of a virus infecting an apple. Also, just because an application has an exploit in 1 version doesn't mean that it'll be available for exploit in another OSs version. As well...I have never heard about a virus for Mozilla which means that the only software you can come up with that is prone to viruses is Microsoft...interesting
man, if your laptop requires that much power, carrying the batteries around must be a bitch. I suggest an interstate high output and a backpack...or a small diesel generator and one of those old school suitcase carts.
I go to a small liberal arts college in NY and I work for the technology department as well as run the RESNET program. Needless to say, I have known the second every wireless point has gone up at school and I use them when I'm in range. I can say that I've seen the changes in the waves of people who use them. The first semester, when it was myself and about 15 other kids in my major, we did this chatting about the lecture, because most of us were truely geeks and either already did the reading for the lecture, or didn't need to listen quite as attentively as the other students. Anyway, it's 2 years later, and now there are a bunch of kids who just got laptops and wireless cards for the sole purpose of being on IM in thier classes. THESE are the students that are being rude about this. They never had any intention of using their computers for academic reasons. Here's the giveaway....Students that are typing furiously on their laptop, and taking notes on their notepad next to their laptop. Also, for those of you who think it's rude, there are some people that can simply type faster than they can take legible notes...and most laptop keyboards are just as quiet as a pencil scratching away at a pad.
exactly, I was trying to get at that and karma whore at the same time...can I get a fucking mod up....anybody....anybody...it failed and we sank deeper into the great depression.
yeah, now I can finally sue that heavy metal station I've been receiving in my braces since 5th grade....but I don't know what I'd do without my danzig. pale
but I do have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness....it's my choice to fly, it's my choice to travel, but just because it's a choice that I can avoid making doesn't mean that companies can disregard my rights by using the "they choose to participate" defense....
I don't understand how people are being so mislead as to believe that any of these codecs sound anywhere near "CD - quality". The bottom line is that if the data is being compressed....it's not going to sound as good...what the hell are you doing trying to listen to any of these formats on a good stereo...and by good stereo...what do you mean? I frequently listen to stuff on my pop's audible illusions & magneplanar system...I doubt most people have access to that kind of audiophile equipment or are sitting and acutally in a proper listening setting...unlesss you're doing that kind of listening why do you need anything that sounds better than a 192AAC?
I'm fairly certain that they are competing with apple. Most people know that apple is coming out with iTunes for Windows...and it's going to include the store...that means that although it's not on the market yet...they are competing with them. I really am looking forward to seeing how windows users react to interacting with an Apple product when it comes out.
first, what are their download speeds...for all you know it could take all afternoon to get...secondly the comparison to restaurant/cooking is horrible...
Somebody posted the fact that the ads look like rip offs of the iTunes ads....they are and the tagline is "music downloads for the rest of us"
Sounds a lot like they're going straight for apple's throat...I wonder what's going to happen when iTunes for windows comes out and the whole windows contingent has access to a good store?
again, the difference is that the iTunes store was designed as a component of an already existing piece of software that is only available in Mac OS. This was designed as a web-browser based store that did not have to block out potential customers. And by the way...iTunes for windows is due out by the end of the year, and it's going to include the store as well...it's just a question of a smaller company (apple) having to allocate the resources to create a new version of the software for windows, and that takes a bit of time. -pale
the difference is that the iTunes store is designed to interface only with iTunes, and use different functions in iTunes (ie. the search and browse functions) and not through a web browser. I think it's wierd that they didn't just have the storefront itself run through windows media player...
I think it's fairly safe to assume that this article shouldn't have even made news on/. Since there are new multiformat drives out already and the +r format is useless for most desired uses (ie backing video DVDs up, or copying your PS2 games)I'm really surprised that this even got posted.
I dont' know about this +R being the standard, you can't copy a dvd movie with a +R and I believe that the only reason it's at all popular is that dell has been using them. Also, the technology that is used to make CD-Rs is the same as the technology to write DVD-Rs. The same applies to both +R write methods. I assume that since CD-R is the standard for Cd it will be the standard for DVDs as well
actually, if you look at the method of "sharing" in the new itunes...you're actually streaming and not sharing, there is not a permanent copying of the data and thus it would seem that your machine may be considered a juke box. pale
so what happens if you wouldn't obtain it in any other way than infringing upon the copyright...since you wouldn't have purchased it you're not actually depriv9ing the owner of the $$...which is really what this is all about...
as well, there will never be any way to distinguish between "casual gamers" and the freak online game zealots because there is no real way to restrict who plays what. I tried to do the online PS2 stuff as a fairly avid gamer, however since I'm busy with my schoool work enough that I can't play everyday (it's sad I know) I just got my ass whooooped frequently. Unless you're happy living that existence you can never survive as a casual gamer that involves other humans...the competition is too fierce regardless of the desired "casual" level of play.
unless of course you're using a mac. In which case you can just use that nifty migration assistant.
ALL your settings, docs, and apps over firewire to a new machine... quite nice. And, in my experience most apps don't break due to transit.

Indeed, for those of us who know family guy, this is the pre-whiskey days of Irish civilization...
actually...I find it's much better to use an RC blimp when conducting tomish peeping....it's quiet so they stay unsuspecting for longer.

actually....you're wrong. The player has to be windows media player 9, which is not available for any operating system other than windows....
