On that same note thinking about where technology will be tomarrow and then crying about it today is a bad way to go. Everything must be done in its own time, and at its own pace. Accellorating the course of things is bad, and will create bugs in the way things work. You can't go from ENIAC to Earth Simulator in one sitting. Baby steps are needed for all improvements in technology. On a sidenote, can the bulletproof vest stop a lance (I was going to say sword but I have shredded field plate with one before). No? I thought not, but then again it wasn't ment to. Btw, scale is a better protector in most situations than plate will be, and can be made bulletproof. Plate, while looking cool, is a general pain in the butt compared to a good scalemaile.
Actually just loop a short clip of you working. Send this through the capture device. Instantly look like you are working. Remember any network traffic can be altered provided you know what you are doing.
actually, Sony had a laptop like this. The camera folded out from the side. They also had/have a desktop that has a Wacom LCD tablet for a monitor (truely a fun thing to play with). Sadly though I haven't seen the laptop+camera in a long time, but I remember it being cool for video confrences.
what do you mean just like me? I have no interest in having more money than I already have. I have no need for it, and don't really desire to have more of it.
People like that disgust me. what is the point to having that much money. There is none. He already has more money than most people here will see, and he wants MORE?
Anyways this is probly even further off topic, but what really is the point to amassing monitary wealth? It seems to me that wealth should be given back to the community to try and make it a better place. The path bettering oneself is not through money but through what is inside. You must give up external wealth to gain internal wealth. In the end it isn't the number of toys that matter, but the actions one takes that matter.
you mean something vaguely like forcing it to see only the first session? Not really that difficult. I used to run it so that my computer would only see a given session (CDA or DATA) so that I could keep multiple versions of the same thing on the CD.
I loved this movie when I was a kid. And to all other people who liked it, I suggest reading the book by Michael Ende. It really is a good read, goes much further than the first movie does (and the second movie has almost nothing to do with the book at all).
be careful those who watch this movie. While it is a great one (as are all the movies done by Studio Gibli), it also happens to be among the most depressing films that I have ever seen. Interesting though that you should mention this film, it is done by the same people that did Spirited Away.
I cast my vote for La Cité des Enfants Perdus (The City of Lost Children). I highly suggest seeing it if you haven't already. However, I don't know if there is an English dub for it (I do know there is an English subtitled version of it though), as it is a French movie. It also may very well be the strangest movie I have ever seen.
Digital hasn't surpassed film, and never will. They are two different mediums. And yes, I have done that challange before, my 30 year old 135 camera put the digital in its place. The only digital I have seen that could match my camera for detail was a digital backing someone made for the various medium format cameras out there. 11 MP is not something that I would worry about putting my 135 film to shame. It takes atleast 16MP to match the detail of Velvia (yes it does matter what film you compare to digital) and that is just in the 135 format. There are black and white films out there that go WAY past this, and I am not sure about color.
Digital and film are just mediums. It is like compairing paint and ink. It really has to do with who is in control of the brush as to the quality of the final product. There are things that my digital will pickup that my film will not and there are things that the film will pickup that the digital will not. It really is all in the selection of the right medium for the job.
I personally don't like to use digital as almost all of my work is black and white. The only thing i have used the digital for lately is to replace the poloroid backings in studio work. I can't really comment on the state of the 135 print films as I only use my 135 for slides and the occationally for black and white on the run. I use primarily an assortmant of medium format gear, and produce results that keep my customers happy. It is my opinion that digital will never replace film as far as black and white is concerned.
If you can find for me a digital camera that can take on any of my film cameras. And to the person thinking that this new whiz-bang camera will improve pictures to make them look better think again it is mearly a tool. It is like having a much longer range of f-stops to control your depth of feild with, it will not really improve the pictures that much. It will be much like using a pinhole camera (though probly without the really long shutter times). Will be really nice though in the world of landscapes. Also, if you can reverse it you should be a great tool for surealistic photography.
How long till we get digital cameras that can imitate film. Why would I want to pay hundreds of dollars for a camera with a single level of color saturation and still won't let me play zone system. As soon as someone makes a camera that I can do that with out having to spend time in photoshop I will be sold. OLED is great but it doesn't solve the core problems of digital cameras.
Some one should make a digital camera that has a built in system that lets you imitate different film types, and prohaps even do black and white properly (as none do yet). However on the side of digital there are some out there with some REALLY nice IR sensitivities out there.
ahh fond memories the AT brings back. I remember mine having about 5megs (1 on board and 4 sipps). Prohaps I should boot it up again and see if it still works.
such a shame I can't mod today or I would give this a +1 underrated. This is by far the best post I have read in ages. Thank you for posting this, you have just added a bright light to my dismal day.
We need to kill them to keep them from being able to rise up and take over the land. It is a war out there, Us vs The Piggies. You don't win wars by not killing anyone. Who would you rather it be you or that pig in the corner. One of them has to die. Eating them is just a side product. If we weren't to eat them why do they taste so good?
The reason for that is that the current Eos-1D is still using a CCD. The 11 megapixel isn't out yet (where is it canon, huh where?). The only really high megapixed CCD I could find was the $12,000 16 megapixel backing for the Contax, Mamiya, and Hasselblad 645 series.
I bet this urge actually is pretty easy to get. Just have some stupid big assed bitch decide to walk across the street just as you get a green light and take there own damn time crossing (usually enough that it is red when they finish). It should be fairgame if they are in the crosswalk for more than 10 seconds after green light.
there are 3 places with in a 10 min drive from my house that sell counterfiet and bootleg CDs. Usually in this area they put stickers on them stating 'surface noise' or 'import' or something similar. The scary thing is that they sell well even at 'import' prices. I have seen this trend through out most of my travels. They are usually found intermixed with the legit stock. Keep your eyes open and you will see them (I refuse to beleive that this is isolated only to the areas where I travel and do business)
If I was cloning anything other than stem cells would I make it public? Hell no, I would make it a secret project. I would most likely try to start an ubermench project right under peoples noses. The best and ultimate use of cloning is for genetic research. You finally have a biological subject that is the same everytime you go to make a change, this is the only real way to test genetic changings. Next you need to accelerate growth so that you can see your changes (or do it in large batches with different changes). You preform vast changes in the human genome and no one would be able to tell what was going besides the scientists who were doing them.
Some more of Jennifer Connelly in the trailer would have been nice.
who said anything about D&D? I use these things in real life. Ever heard of the SCA, you know the people who do the ren-fests?

Wow, that is an old one. Probly scribed on the back of ENIAC, in Noah's own handwritting.

WMP9 is pretty bad, but the codecs are good. So good infact that you can get them seperately and still use WMP6.4

So I should get lojack, then sell a car on ebay and report it stolen as soon as it gets to it destination (or a day or two later).

atleast wait until it leaves the front page before reprinting the same story
what will be worse is when the mom puts curry in the computer by mistake and sends the real lunchbox in with extra RAM
