from those evil money-loving fiends from Microsoft. Well, you've done it again Bill Gates & Co. I hope you're happy, leveraging your Monopoly power to charge more for new technology... oh, what's that... they're not going to charge more? Damn them and there attempts to drive Linux out of the market by dumping their OS on the market!
In a last ditch effort to save BSD it was ported to yet another meaningless paltform, a Gentoo BSD emulator. Unfortunately Gentoo has followed the path of BSD, straight into oblivion.
Cola? You understimate Google. They are releasing an energy drink that has a simple sweet flavor similar to Sprite. It is mixed with ginsing and nanobots that will search your soul and reveal your innermost desires.
Half Baked? I don't really think Microsoft is in the movie tie-in business, and even if they were why would they want to link their products with a lame move from the late 90s? Dave Chappelle was pretty good, but Jim Breuer is a veritable human wasteland on par with Jeff Goldblum
Wrong, now he has confirmation he needs to pursue episodes VII, VIII, and IX. No, as a lifetime achievement award winner, no one will question his decision to rework the triology so that Han Solo's name is actually Beau, and in episode VII we learn that Beau and Luke are cousins, and Han's long lost father returns, Uncle Jessie. The empire is defeated, but pockets of control remain throughout the galaxy, especially on the planet of Hazzard. Here Beau and Luke, the newly named Dukes of Hazzard, are sent to eliminate the remaining emperial forces. Lando, will of course have taken the Millenium Falcon, but that's ok because Beau will reveal that he has been working on a supped up ship, named after one of the great hearo's of the rebel resistance, the General Lee. Finally the Star Wars vision, the Lucas vision, can be realized.
Oh... and I've heard in episode VIII Beau and Luke will run into a group of wrongly accused ex-rebel fighters, named Murdoch, Hannibal, Face, and B.A. Barachus. I pity the fool who misses this movie!
And finally, we might see N-Sync do a cameo in the movie (that would be awesome d00d).
Television is mostly an entertainment medium. Even the "news" is about hype "Child killer on the loose, is your child safe? New at 11.". Current "science" TV is frequently about speculation, what might be around the corner in 5, 10, 75 years. More talk about holographic storage than how existing magnetic storage works, or the theories/laws that govern it. The problem is, most people don't care about how existing science is used, so for a television channel to be viable they have to add the hype. I'm skeptical... I hope it works though... a station with lectures by leading scientists, clear explanations of existing research, and more science than CSI is a good thing.
What would be interesting would be if the application would analyze the types of documents and words that it found on your system and compare them against social profiles. So for example, after google had indexed your system, it would say "You're a loser" or "You're a workaholic" or "You're a troll on Slashdot". It sounds sort of silly, but I bet you could learn a lot about someone by looking over the word index of the Google Desktop.
Large scale projects that create jobs and thereby infuse new money into an economy create an environment where businesses can be successful. It seems like a combination of microloans and large investment would be ideal.
If you read the article you'll see that these scientists are really saying they don't know WTF is going on, and they're using their ignorance to stir up the folks at Greenpeace. No doubt to raise more funding for their research.
And considering the DVD for The Day After Tomorrow comes out tomorrow I really have to question whether this is anything more than a well placed promotion.
Either way, global warming or not, call me when we're ready to start the looting.
From the CNET article... "[Flash-OFDM] offers connection rates of 1.5 megabits per second." So the 360Mbps is in the lab, and is not likely to be out of the lab and into your pants (these are cell phones) for several more years. 1.5 Mbps isn't too bad for now though.
"[the researchers] draw their inspiration from... the robustness of the cockroach."
researchers are looking in the cupboards of their local diners
Typical researcher... sees a cockroach running across the filthy floor of his local diner and thinks "Eureka! I should make a robot that moves like a cockroach", all the while ingesting the roaches larvae, embedded in his day-old chili.
Congratulations to this wonderful author for not only publishing the first book ever to be written entirely in l33t speak but also for doing it on a d34d operating system, Gentoo. Congratulations to all of the Gentoo developers and users out there, all seven of you. The last gasp of Gentoo has now been captured on the printed page.
This is really some brilliant work. Paul saw an opportunity to take what will become a defacto standard when Longhorn is shipped (or shortly thereafter) and beat Microsoft to the punch. This is a great way for big companies to play with big giants like MS, and take advantage of their slow development times for huge projects.
Is anyone else getting tired of hearing about wiki's? I'm probably on the outside looking in... but man... please just shut up w/ all the wiki crap. The blog-mania was bad enough.
NEWSFLASH: CBS to merge w/ Hancock Fabrics citign synergies in their fabrication departments.

I have been soundly defeated. Jim Breuer was in fact born to play a stoner.

Intel realized their 4Ghz chip needed more sheilding and cooling then a nuclear reactor.

I think it will index those files just fine. It actually indexed my perl scripts.
That's the beauty of it... you don't have to... Google did it for you!
I used gopher... which was invented shortly after the wheel.
Although VBScript isn't a likely port... BASIC has been ported to Parrot. There's even a working Parrot-BASIC CGI script.

This is SO true!
Do the ASP.NET flaws require re-writing your application server to work around them?
Unfortunately, the few lines required to implement the patch has already been copyrighted by Brian Connolly.
I think that really depends on who that actress is.

Derivitives of Red Bull & Vodka... meaning child support and alimony?
