I would want someone to shoot me if I was ever caught saying such rediculous bullshit that you just said. Listen, Macs are all great, user-friendly, and definately have advantages over windows machines, but it's not night and day. XP is now a pretty solid operating system and it's really not much different in terms of the user experience. What if one of your family members needed to use an application that is only available to an Windows OS, would you still be a dick to them?

My Mom uses a Mac and asks me questions all the time. I might not be as quick when it comes to fixing the problem due to my lack of experience, but at least I try. I don't belittle her by telling her to get a PC so I could help her better.

Stop being such assholes, and maybe I might end up agreeing with you people one day.

Yeah, I've got scammed out of a 2800 dollar laptop once. Granted I was foolish and gullible, eBay and PayPal were only able to get $175 back, my bank however will probably be able to get Visa to issue a chargeback. It makes me sick that I see nearly the EXACT same auctions up for sale, and I see people bidding for it. I really wish I could say something to the people who are bidding on the auction, but now I can't.

It's not all peachie for the sellers either. Since there's been so much fraud from their end, eBay and Paypal are quick to take money away from them if they can't proove that the item was delivered. Buyers take advantage of this and set up disputes and claims even though they recieved the item as advertised. eBay and Paypal don't really care too much because as long as their making money, the few percent of people getting scammed doesn't really make difference.

It's really sad that so many people have to make money by hurting others. I think that's the root of the problem. Even if eBay takes the necessary action, there will be will other new ways to scam people.

I mean, are they safe guarding against this also? Because, in the end, what's wrong with selling people your time or services to them? Once they complete the service, you pay them. I don't know how they could find some way around this or tell which auctions for services need to be revoked. There's nothing wrong with people selling their time for games like WoW. At least, there's nothing legally wrong. However, in terms of the WoW EULA, the trading of characters and gold out of game is not allowed. eBay probably feels this is unethical, and the fact that they are allowing and making it easier for people to circumvent Blizzard's contracts is borderline illegal. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they made this decision because Blizzard is threatening them with legal pressure.

IIRC, almost every WoW character being sold on eBay had the same disclaimer stating something on the lines of "By looking at this webpage you are agreeing that you aren't a Blizzard employee. The sale of this auction doesn't involve any possesions, instead you are paying for my services and time that I put into this character."

That's probably why eBay made the decision to delist all virtual goods, because people were always finding ways to circumvent their rules by changing the wording. Now they won't be able to do that.

The seller must be the owner of the underlying intellectual property, or authorized to distribute it by the intellectual property owner. For games such as World of Wacraft which explicity say in the EULA that all characters etc. are property of Blizzard and that the selling of these items break the terms of the license, I can see why you would want to delist them.

What about games that do allow or will allow buying of virtual property? It seems to me that eBay would be shooting themselves in the foot by blindly delisting all virtual items.

I actaully don't think this is a horrible idea. If they just made a Starcraft 2, it simply won't be good as the first Stacraft for two reasons:

    A. Starcraft was an amazingly great and fun game, and it would be hard for the developers to improve on such a success
    B. Many the people and talent who worked on Starcraft no longer work for Blizzard.

I'm a little worried about them being innovative though. I think one of the key reasons for Blizzard's success is that they take/copy/steal/borrow innovative features from other games and they refine them and improve them. If you look at any of Blizzard's games hardly any of the features the games have are features that never been seen before.
