Do you think three people could really keep track of all of microsoft's activity for the next five years?
They better get some help. It's the little things people miss that gets me. Who's gonna help them?
I think it is the consumer's responsibility to take action--why else do you think it's taken so long to get this far? Because they're so big, and so few people are acting!
The idea of completely banning cookies is absurd. Let's look at a deeper solution.
IE comes with cookies automatically on and accepted, perhaps this is where the plan of attack should be. Many people have no idea what cookies are, or the fact that there is information being stored about you when you visit a site.
In all fairness to current legitimate use of cookies, people should be warned that cookies are being sent in the first place, and then the person should decide what to do, to accept or not, or to automattically accept all, or automatically accept and reject based on predetermined user settings.
Lets put down the unfair practice of cookies to store information without the user's behalf. They EU should require all browser default to ask the user about cookies after installation of the browser, bundled or downloaded-however it comes. Then after the user has made his choices, then you cannot say that they cookies were illegal, or taken without user permission.
The real reason is that VA is a conjugation of ALLER in French. Some Frenchie's thought it was contridictory to have a name VA Linux, because Linux isn't going anywhere.
In other news, Microsoft merged French versions of IE 6.0 smart tags and French versions Microsoft Word's Thesauraus together. In an effort to bring a better web experience, Microsoft deleted entries of terms that do not exist in their dictionaries as they may confuse people. They did it in English, why not French?

In the very early DOS days, I knew the basic stuff, changing directories, running programs, using GW-Basic. I didn't experiment too much because the machine I used wasn't mine.
Then in the late 80's, my parents got me a Mac Plus. It was an interesting machine, to learn and use. I had a few games, Microsoft Word and Works, a spreadsheet program, and some disk utilities. I learned how to use hypercard, and learned all the settings in the apple menu.
After about a year's use, I found it to be less and less intersting.
My parents put a modem in their computer and got prodigy, one of the fore-runners to the internet. It was awesome. Two, they got me a programming book, I found it very enjoyable.
I'd wonder, why didn't I have this stuff for Mac, more programs, or even a Hard Drive? They were too expensive and too hard to find.
I soon was given my parents XT. It was fast, and stable. Not this constant editing of config.sys or autoexec.bat, once you set up it is done.
It is true, side by side, the XT was more stable. If it would hang up, you were probably trying out a new program. Just reset, and your back in seconds. If that happened on the Mac, it would happen all the time, with almost all the programs! It would corrupt disks, and the disks were expensive! On the XT, I used 360 KB disks, and I remember only once corrupting a disk.
The reset button for the Mac was funny, because it was removible, and had a debug window, and something else wierd with it I can't remember. The programmible menu had a commands that I knew out of a book I had, but there was never any help for it on the computer, you couldn't use it like even the debug command in DOS because I didn't know what the options were.
Well there are lots of things I can talk about the Mac, but lets finish by talking about a little of what you said.
By the time DOS and Windows 3.x rolled around, I found that they were definately superior. My brother put Win3.1 on his computer, a 386 with VGA, and later bought a sound card. It was the first time that I had seen Full Motion Video with AVI in windows. It was very cool. And it only costed him a few hundred dollars. This was 1992 technology, and I compared this with the Macs at the time. I found them unbelievibly behind. They were still selling Mac Pluses, SE's and Mac II's were way too expensive. You had to buy a Mac IIfx to get any where near what my brother could do.
And another note, Apple sued Microsoft over Windows 1.0, way back in 1985 I believe, so that has nothing to do with Win95.
Conclusion, I've learned both OS's, and I know how they work side-by-side. It is true that Mac's are technologically inferior. They have always been overpriced. And their standards have always leaned on the rest of the industry. Even today, I've admin Mac networks, and it's the same.
The people that compared Win95 to Mac are right when they said they are the same, because they looked the same, but that doesn't have any bearing on the other argument-they always have been technologically inferior. If there was hypocrisy from and DOS person, he doesn't know what he's talking about to start-he's just repeating what everyone else says-But I've have learned for the fact, Macs have always been inferior.
Yup, I went to the one in Phoenix. It was ok, but I thought it was wierd when one of the game cubes froze.
You got to remember, a lot of the games are still under development, especially, SSB Melee, which I definately believe needs some polishing work.
I was playing SSM Melee with my buddies and some "special" group of people came along, one of the workers said, "Okay after this game you guys are out." And I thought-Man! We had been playing for about 10 minutes and there were other SSM machines where people had been playing for hours! Can't wait till I get my own game cube.
I was later playing Luigi's mancion and I found that game very cool and unique, but I was in a special booth and it was veerrrrrry loud! I got a headache from that one.
I posted about this article already under a slashdot story about heatsinks not too long ago.
I thought it was funny how they removed the heat sink to see which CPU fried. In any actual event, if the CPU fried, it would be the heatsink's fault, because the CPU and heatsink are designed to go together in actual operation.
Perhaps they could return to the old CPU/HEATSINK combo that I remember on old 286's. It seems logical. Why don't they sell a heatsink(+fan) cpu combo, that is designed to go together, and make it a standard package? I guess it would seem logical, but less price=more potential buyers. AMD: Forget it, let them fry their CPU so they will buy another.
If you make a product too good, it probably won't sell as much;)
Not too smart. If people can't do what they want to do with the products they buy, they might as well switch over to buying other products.
Sony's hurting a customer, and potential buyers and themselves. Say if someone creative takes a visit at the aibopet website, and finds its waay cool, they have a potential buyer... whoops it not there any more.

I'm a computer game fan, because when I got my 100 MB HD & 200 MB HD, I added them in and Voila! I could install games, like Starcraft. Too bad I only had a 486 and 12 MB of ram. It would freeze after 5 minutes. Outta memory.
For one thing I know, there is activation. If there is a moderate change to the system, you have to reactivate--this is very bas in my case because I change hardware out almost every week.
I thought once that a laptop could be better to run XP, because the hardware doesn't really change. But then I remember a story of a guy on a plane, hooks up his spare laptop battery or something, and had to reactivate, which was impossible. Wierd.
I could buy the corporate XP version which has no activation...but why should I pay more because Microsoft cripples its products.
Then heres a look at another angle. This articles shows how Microsoft wants XP to be the gateway to their MSN service (in the future the entire internet).......... I want to get an OS for productivity! not to be advertised to!
---First, the select plan is not an always on plan. Only Delux is. It's always been that way, even when DSL first came out. The differences between Select and Delux and clearly indicated on the web page. What the sales weasel might have told you on the other hand isn't as clear. ---
I would love to show you how they originally described the services... The web page originally said for Select: downstream up to 640 Kbps, guarenteed 272 Kbps both up and down. Always on, although connection not guarenteed--meaning you might not be able to connect. They never said my connection was session was limited to two hours at a time! I've had quest for 8 months. In the past I was able to stay online for days! These disconnections started just _________more than a week ago___________. They are changing my service, I wasn't fooled to begin with, its starting now. MSN also knowingly disconnects people. So it may be coming from them.
You think that they are clear? Their advertisement are deceptive, and you can't get the specs on my connection anymore. Try looking on the website, you can't find it, I did look today. Hidden charges and all! Try calling them to get things straightened out? They say huh? I don't know anything about that. Did you see that article? There's more proof about deception. I know someone that had DSL for a month and is already switching because of their DSL service deceptions about disconnections. They never said they will disconnect people. never. Look for it you can't find it. They're lying. I'm not making any mistake.
In addition, I've been noticing that my up/down speeds are being limited to less than 128kbps according to speed test site that normally reported about 550 kbps. I had a cox buddy check it out and he was getting a full 3mbps, so it wasn't a bogged down site. It was my connection. So much for DSL speeds.
Also, Qwest has raised rates on almost all their services. My bill is like $150/month now!
----How the DSL circuit works has nothing to do with your ISP. The ISP has no contol over the DSLAM, which is what is disconnecting you. So if you don't like MSN, get a local ISP with DSL, most markets have AT LEAST 40+ choices for your ISP.
----
Again, I had no disconnection problems until last week, so its not this. It has happened to up to every half hour. My connection manager records the session length, and it has been exact. I have had this confirmed by another person I know. Sometimes it gives me a code on the reason for disconnect. Some say just plain disconnected, other say, disconnected by request of host. I don't get why you say the ISP's and DSLAM and then talk about MSN.
----I have Qwest DSL, I don't use Qwest as my ISP. My connection has been flawless over the last year.----
Good option, but I'd rather not. For less than what you pay (unless its DSL 256) I will get 3 Mbit/s cable internet which is better. I have seen it many places.
They didn't have to start being this way...Understand, qwest is their own problem just like microsoft. They will lose customers because of greedy business practices.
I must tell you however, you must run windows or mac os to get connected with the Intel modem the give you. It uses an oddball PPPoA which doesn't work in linux.
If you get lucky and can pay for the business plan, they give you a cisco modem which should work in linux.
I'm switching over to cox in a week which will work faster, less expensive, and better in Linux. I have to use Win98SE with ICS, then connect my linux box up to it! Beware! If you use quest now, you're doomed to be using Windows some how or another! Email included:(

Here is my report on Qwest/MSN-you know what they are doing in my area, Phoenix. It is all truthfull, please read. Be sure to check the end of this post for an article on more information.
I am currently a Qwest customer in Phoenix, and have more details on the current situation.
Back in March, I signed up for Qwest DSL Select, which is a $20 per month DSL line at 640 Kbps, 272 Kbps guarenteed. Once connected, you are "always on". You are not guarenteed to connect but once your on you can remain on no matter how long it is. I also pay $20 for the Qwest DSL ISP which is now owned by MSN.
Over the summer I was charged for the DSL modem which was supposed to be free as a promotional gift. Additional charges were also added for services I did not pay for. It took two months to get the charges off and many long phone calls with people saying like "I don't know how to do this," or "I don't think my supervisor will allow."
A week and a half ago, Qwest started disconnecting my "always on" connection after each two hours of connectivity. Then there was a five minute (I call it a penalty) to wait until I could connect again. I downloaded a connection manager, and set it up to disconnect me automatically after every 1 hr 50 mins, and then immediately reconnect. It cuts out the stupid 5 minute wait. I do this for two reasons, downloading and gaming, those are very sensitive to 5 minute lags of course. 10 second reconnects are a miniscule problem in comparison. However I found that I am still getting disconnected every half-hour (with out the 5 minute penalty) and its still annoyed the heck outta me
After the first 5 days of this, I call in asking whats going on, this is not the service I originally agreed to. They say it is part of the plan, but if I didn't like it, I could switch to MSN ($20 a month, which I know still disconnects my uncle tells by the way) and the "regular" DSL for 32.50 a month. HUH? Its the same 640 Kbps line an MSN? what kind of switch is that?
So as you can see they're trying to harrass us into paying more. This was not happening a week ago. To fix this problem I was very smart. I ordered on the day after I called the COX INTERNET and DIGITAL TELEPHONE for $40 dollars a month (you have to buy your own cable modem). In comparison you pay $72 a month with qwest for broadband DSL and phone. They were advertising that on the radio today like it was something great and I know it isn't YOU'RE PAYING about $15 dollars a month more than I have been. IT'S A SCAM. THANKFULLY, I'm getting COX in exactly one week, yes I'm counting those days. I urge every switch to COX now to show them how bad they are.
Now that I told you that, check out the Arizona Republic article. It tells about the scams Qwest is involved in here and Microsoft is also to blame now seeing the new information on SlashDot. They're like about the worst companies around. I know six other people have switched in the the phoenix area to COX because of the same reasons! Share this information because it's true.
---Yes, but as a feature, it's been combined into one button.
You mean a reset button? My computer has one too, same with gaming consoles, not much surpise. Seeing it was a keyboard I was hoping they would include the famous three key combo.
Actually guess what? I was playing the game cube on Saturday and the game froze? Wierd huh?
huh? excuse me? Banning open source products won't stop that. And what they were showing they were using was Microsoft Flight Simulator which is not open source.
Even if they made surveillence back-doors, they would either hack them, or not go on the net so they could be spied, or they would make their own.
You really think they're just another tool? They're gonna do whatever they want however they can. They aren't stupid.
I'm guessing the virus writers gave up already. I'm sure 10,000 pounds is not worth the time of two years. It sounds to me that it's impossible. They should increase that amount by an exponent of 100 and see what happens.
But it's even more funny that they have to pay people to attempt to write a virus, on a free and open source system. This only means one thing...Linux really works!
Think about communicating as the speed of light, with no wires. There would be no barriers to net communication and speed.
But terrorists trasmitting their plans over the internet will likely be unstoppable,.. ...unless we could make some kind of Quantum Entanglement Feedback, and blow up their computers and themselves.
To combat terrorism and defend the Nation against terrorist acts, and for other purposes.
What do they mean and other purposes??? HMMM...Not just terrorism, then what else?
Then it's not correct calling it the Anti-Terrorism Act. It's purely wrong. They are using the name as a method to get it passed!
If you notice, the people affected are not the terrorists, they are every single American Citizen.
They are totally trying to get this through because of the attack, and they are ignoring Amendments 8-10 of the constitution!
Amendment 8: Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.
Amendment 9: The enumeration in the Constitution of certain rights shall not be contrued to deny or disparage others retained by the people.
Amendment 10: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
So people, it's clearly wrong and what they're doing. If these elected people have ever try reading the constitution from time to time, they would not make this horrible mistakes.... None of them are going to get my vote if they vote for it.

Wierd huh?
It's a good thing they're looking into better heatsink design. Because what if one happens to fall off, guess what happens?
And you can't blame my AMD for that! It was the heatsink not being there!!!
Will the new Cube controller have
...
CTRL - ALT - DELETE?
hmmm, That's probably reserved for the xbox
How bout Scroll lock?
ACk! they outlawed side-scrollers years ago!
What are we gonna do with a keyboard then.........
huh?
It must be Bert. He's plotting against internet now that his story is out.
haxor: ich komme von amerika
german: warauf kommst du da?
haxor: ich bin haxor?
german: don't you speak english?
haxor: of course............uh ja
german: your broken german sounds terrible
haxor: ich weisse
german: so you're a nerd huh
I'm sure Microsoft would send in the anti-Linux Teams to add up some numbers found here, in a highly scientific poll conducted at slashdot.
They'll be running their favorite old CALC.EXE, punching in all their numbers, 3043 here, 2001 there. 75% of 14 computers at some IT department.
They scan down the list, what kind of number is Linux Ru132?? So they substitute E.
It's a good thing that it doesn't blue screen here, because it might make them think that they're gaining even more ground from the number shown.
Think about communicating as the speed of light, with no wires. There would be no barriers to net communication and speed.
..
But terrorists trasmitting their plans over the internet will likely be unstoppable,
...unless we could make some kind of Quantum Entanglement Feedback, and blow up their computers and themselves.
Here it is:
I send this to web sites that I can spot using my apache access log. I tell them they're infected. :)
