trouble free distribution?

Is RPM Doomed?
·
· Score: 1
The question as to whether we should migrate to distributions offering more sophisticated and trouble-free package management is presented.
I have a solution.
I got tired of 'an RPM for Redhat. An RPM for other distros. Or even a tar.gz for REDHAT and a tar.gz for OTHER distros' (see opera's download page for an example of what I mean. FreeBSD, baby. I've never looked back and wished I'd stayed with Linux.
I knew I'd seen what he was talking about, and I knew it wasn't an 'old sci-fi flick'...
okay 2nd part of the equation...what episode was it? (ie, the premise and need for the holgram overlay?)...I don't know..I'm asking:)
I agree with you totally. Bowie has seemed to always have an opinion that goes against the grain of the industry and he's not afraid to express it. He's tech-savvy, got a good head for business and he's a talented artist to boot.
And just why is this a TROLL?
From the Jargon files:
troll
1. v.,n. To utter a posting...designed to attract predictable responses or flames; or, the post itself.
Predictable responses? Don't know of any that would be predictable to my post. Flamewar? hardly my intent.
My post was just an expression of pride in my region and the techie aspect we have to offer...nothing more.
of course, i am now feeding the troll that modded me a troll...the vicious cycle continues.
Our state may be rainy and gray, but we have things like the IBM team and a big chunk of Intel that make us shine above the silicon valley...we are the silicon forest.:)
In one of the last episodes, we were led to believe they died (and were BURRIED) after the poison oozed from the dude.
If they are still alive, well, it's classic X-Files. If it's a flashback, well, it's classic X-Files.
give it a freakin' rest.
Yup. I've used it since I installed OSX 10.0.x on my iMac.
It's not new.
Pretty slick. Even if all it does is hide applications, instead of providing true virtual desktops
I'm using a ViewSonic flat screen,17" viewable and I'm able to see okay to do work. Of course for details in graphics, I occasionally have to get REAL close to the screen, but it seems to be working for me so far.
My vision is 20/400 uncorrected in the eye that is affected. I do take A LOT of breaks, as teh brightness gets to me after a while.
Opera's magnification features are a godsend.
Other apps, I have set to use larger fonts, and the fairly generous screen realestate is helpful..I'll probalby shop for a larger monitor in the not too distant future...but the 17" viewable is doing me good for now.
I like being able to edit files to customize the compilation (no Gnome-core-libs-bloat? no problem. know I don't want kde/kdelibs? no problem.) and only installing what I want on my system - all of em in their cpu-optimized goodness. I was using Sorcerer/Sorcery/Lunar-Penguin (aka, the "let's have a battle of egos and fork like there's no tomorrow" distros), until they factioned and started having all the stupid in-fighting; now I went with the solid, founded, Gentoo - a little extra time with set up and editing files, but worth the effort.
my favorite looney tunes and merry melodies cartoons are the chuck jones variety. i love the little kitten and the bull dog (the dog was sometimes called 'spike' sometimes not) series of 'toons he did.
"duck amuck" ("who's responsible for this!?!"). "shoot him now! shoot him now!" "you stay out of this; he doesn't have to shoot you now"
gawd i love his work. his are the only looney tunes that make me laugh so hard, my face hurts and my vision gets blurry from the tears.
i'll miss you, chuck. thanks for giving me the laughter in my youth, my teens and my adult years.
for non-commercial 'head to head' sh*t on your neighbor fun, I love BZFlag.
As far as commercial games go, my first experience was Myth II: Soulblighter. I loved playing it on Winderz and the same applied on the Linux side.
As to the new games that are out, haven't tried any of them yet, though Alpha Centauri looks interesting - being poor sucks.

It is a great game :) I play it on my Linux box (thanks Loki! RIP)
I've got 2..when I am busy with the computer, they entertain each other...
they are also amused by x-roaches.

What frightens me most is that I SAW THAT...and WANTED to see it. Help me Obi-Wan..

And if you're building from source, of course, put --disable-mailnews in to the configure equation....
dude, that's Kirsten Dunst, and it's all I need to go see the movie...sure has grown up quite nicely since "Interview with the Vampire" eh?

have you checked cheapbytes? or the gentoo page? cheapbytes is selling 1.1a CDs, d00d.
Hell, I'd like to do a cross-over with Buffy ;)
LOL.
some possible tag lines:

A rag-tag trio of X-Files solving X-Files.

OKay for some reason, this really cracked my ass up. donno why. could be a lack of sleep.

maybe someone over there will hire him for his excellent computer skills and we'll never see him again.

Actually, Blackbox is back in VERY active development. check the fluxbox site and its mailing list archives.
