Correct! Among modern humans it is a construct. But I do think the Neanderthals were a TRUE human race:
- we interbred "in the wild" (so they weren't a completely different species)
- they are statistically distinguishable on an individual basis from modern populations, based on a suite of skeletal measures
They have all the hallmarks of a different human race.
Did any male reviewers pan it? And if so, what was their threat load? As high? Higher?

I gotta say, the first 10^10 years of the universe passed by in blink. Things didn't really slow down until I showed up. I'm guessing I could do the full 10^139 standing on my head, if I were dead. The real question is, after those 10^139 years and then another 10^10, am I going to show up again?
The original HDMI standard didn't include a way to transport Closed Captioning. For example, a DVD with CC played over a composite connection will show the subtitles of the CC if the TV handles CC. If you play that same DVD over HDMI...no CC, even if the TV can handle it. The CC is lost when it's sent over HDMI. I don't know the numbers but there are a significant number of deaf/hard of hearing people in the US. And they don't get CC from a DVD using HDMI.
I can't tell but it doesn't appear the new HDMI included it either.
Note: CC are NOT the same as the DVD subtitles. Those are overlayed on the video image by the DVD player and transported with the video signal. CC are different, not overlayed by the DVD player but by the TV, merging the video signal and the CC signal (which HDMI doesn't transport).

Humans evolved in a particular environmental context. While this was dynamic, it was nothing like the societies we have "recently" created. I agree that there really isn't an "unnatural way", but our bodies didn't evolve in the presents of (for example) Twinkies and all their wonderful chemicals. So it's unclear if we are currently adapted to handle the world as we've shaped it.
Only time will tell.
Oh by the way, Gorillas don't eat chimps, they're vegetarians (for the most part). And while I agree that tool building was a vital part our of evolutionary path, mechanization is a relatively recent invention.
So yes, doing the things we do isn't "unnatural" but that doesn't necessarily mean it's good for us either!

that we don't know much about the mode and tempo of evolution. In addition, do any rules we learn apply to ALL species, ie does what hold true for snails apply to Hominoids (Apes AND humans)?
A friend of mine who studies teeth (they are VERY informative) just finished her phd on Neanderthal and Archaic human teeth. In her opinion, the Neanderthals were still human, but isolated and moving away. So they were on their way to becomming a different species, but hadn't arrived yet.
Take it for what it's worth.
