you are referring to the ambient orb. i have one at work which tracks the s&p. it plugs into power - no usb, serial, etc is needed because it picks up a broadcast radio signal.
my isp's mail server only relays mail from their domain - that is i could only send mail from my parents.snet account. i want to be able to send from my own domain.
i ran into the same problem as you - aol and my school blocked my mail. the following lines in my sendmail mailertable worked wonders... wpi.edu smtp:some-open-relay.com
.wpi.edu smtp:some-open-relay.com
aol.com smtp:some-open-relay.com
.aol.com smtp:some-open-relay.com
apparently, aol and my school (among others i'm sure) block my server (which requires authentication) because i'm on a few dbls. however, this open relay i found is accepted everywhere - AND THEY'RE AN OPEN RELAY. of course, i'm not going to post the open relay i found because if they see too much traffic they might secure themselves and i'll have to find another.
when i went to read all of your wonderful posts, i noticed that the banner ad on the top of my browser read "more bang, less buck". at first i thought it was a talking about gas (although gas is now more bang, more buck). but alas, it's merely a vmware ad.
it happened in one of asimov's robot books, the naked sun which is about a human, gladia, and her murdered robot partner jander. good book, great series.
1) why would you need 10 different ftp servers? one would think that just installing the one you plan to use makes more sense... same goes for developement suites. chances are that you'll be using one - not three
2) ftp IS a bug. try ssh. there are many ssh servers available. but once again, one ssh server will probably suffice.
another reason not to upgrade - maximum rip speed of 2x. i'm perfectly happy with 2.91, but i seem to have lost the installer.

this guy is a total asshat. how can he say that windows has no manufacturing costs? 3-4 weeks ago on slashdot after the windows source code leak, folks were saying "holy shit guys - look at the 4.5 million lines of code that becomes windows! what a crappy, bloated OS!". now this dumbass claims that it costs nothing to manufacture. how many man-hours did it take to write windows 2000? windows xp? the media it is shipped on costs very little, but one-time cost of writing is also counted in the total-cost. so unless it was written by non-paid interns (which we know is not the case), this guy is grossly underestimating the profit.
it's quite simple actually. don't download and run things you aren't sure are safe. every month or so, run adaware. defrag memory if you need. don't pour water or other liquids on the hardware. do not use third-party screensavers. keep your registry lean and mean either by hand or using reghealer or other software (every time you uninstall, make sure the registry is cleaned). do not run beta drivers. make sure you have recent drivers. if there is a new version of your bios, get it.
i am not mcse or mcad - but i'll take that as a compliment.
windows xp, sp1 running on my dell inspiron 8100 - this summer had an uptime of over 100 days before i rebooted to have a patch take effect. i played sw jedi knight, morrowind, arcanum frequently. there was no loss in speed, no loss in available memory. from what i've seen, this i not very uncommon for xp. perhaps by 'ANY' you mean win9x? or perhaps you've never 'seen' xp?
i also own a ps2. i currently own 3 ps2 games (ffx, gt3, lotr 1) and more ps1 games than i have room to store. i find that in general ps1 games temd to be much better than ps2 games. ps1 games are fun, ps2 games have good graphics. what do i care about the graphics if the gameplay sucks?
i basically got the ps2 instead of the ps1 because i can watch my dvds on it.
in windows, put this file in 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc'. for linux, it goes in '/etc'
the real trick is changing the 'action canceled' message into a plain-white (or your favorite bgcolor) page so blocked ads show up as a color patch instead of a text message...
credit where credit is due, i did not create this file. i downloaded it pretty much how it appears (but from where i can't remember)
you claim that we 'cannot' repeat our success of 30-40 years ago. as in 'unable to re-create technology 30-40 years old'.
if this is indeed the case, i hope hari seldon set his plan into motion already because it sounds like the beginning of the end of the empire... sadly enough, the problem itself is space travel and colonizing moon/mars, and therefore the 30,000 years of anarchy cannot be shortened to a single millennium by sending 100,000 colonists to terminus to write an encyclopedia.
yes, i'm currently re-reading the 'foundation' series. again.

you mean you're not running win3.1 anymore? i personally am scared to take the step to win95...

i pointed out that he was gay in a post yesterday and got modded as a troll
what about alan turing? he's one of the founding fathers of computers. i bet he's not there because he was gay.

vi ALWAYS has just one undo level. perhaps you should look into a vi replacement such as vim or elvis?

you want to update your system now? try this.
but what if they lose a hand? they would no longer be able to access the building. hr says 'here you go... another hand. but don't lose this one!'

i'm guessing you don't have a mail server running on a dynamic ip... what a paint in the ass this is...
