    I completely agree with you. To clarify, though, I wasn't joking; I was describing what lies ahead on this slippery slope.

    The next logical step from here is to eliminate set theory and partitions because they might remind people of segregation. Then we'll have to get rid of TCP because somebody might sexualize connecting a client and server socket. We'll also need to stop killing processes, because killing is wrong. Administrator accounts will need to go away because they imply some people should be more privileged and everybody is entitled to equality. No more quantifying the size of files, either, since it could offend the fat and the anorexic. I'm offended by this stupidity.

    My eyeglasses have a coating that filters blue light. OTC reading glasses are also available with same feature and 0 diopter (optically neutral) lens; can be found on Amazon.

    If businesses want to build themselves around unqualified hacks, go for it! As a classically-trained programming heavyweight with lots of practical experience in industry who runs their own consulting business, this is great for me. The bigger & more desperate the mess clients are in, the higher the rates they will bare to bring me in to fix it! Race conditions? Scalability? Crashes? Profit!

  14. Hey SF tech people, Feel free to move to the Rust Belt. More and more tech companies are opening offices here. Our commute times are sane and housing affordable. Our internet speeds are reasonable so you can remote into the office. In all my years here, I've only found a single human turd and a single syringe laying around.

    I subscribe to HBO precisely because HBO is not the low-quality ad-riddled turd AT&T wants to make of it. I was one of the people that contacted HBO years before they launched their HBO Now! unbundled streaming service and told them that I wanted to buy such a product from them. I dumped AT&T as my cell carrier and later as my ISP precisely because they don't care about what I want to buy from them.
