It's easily worth 100 milions to M$ to be able to point to the SCO case and say : "You can't fight the Open Source movement, just look at what they did to SCO!"
I fail to see where MS would come out ahead with that quote going around the IT circles. In fact, it just makes linux more powerful in the court room.
When they say that it is built in to the BIOS, they really mean that it can act on its own without any OS on the hard drive. The BIOS would probably have the built-in NIC make the net connection way before any OS starts their boot process.
When you go by time = money, by the time you read all 120 reviews, you would have made more than $300, thus the poster is saying just buy the damn thing and be done with it.
Of course it helps if you have a job that pays good.
Sort by Expiration Date was just a hidden giveme. You won't find that feature in any Tivo literature. How can you lose something that you were never given?
Most screen shots are taken in the new GUI, but once installed, you can change it back to classic mode, or whatever skins you feel like on http://my.opera.com/
The configuration has been mostly the same throughout these modern versions: 5,6,7.
Disclaimer: I do not work for Tivo, just a satisfy customer.
The saying around the Tivo (DVR) circle has always been, "you don't what you are missing until you used it".
Having a Tivo does not mean you have to watch every single show on all 500+ channels. The best thing is that it records what you tell it to record. And then you can choose to watch it whenever you want! No more re-arranging your schedule according to TV network's schedule. This is the most basic function of Tivo, along with a million other features to enhance this function.
Skip all the re-runs, you can tell it to record only new episodes of "The Simpsons". No problem, it knows the difference because it downloads TV Guide. Tell it to record whenever "Robin Williams" is on any of your 500+ channels, anytime. (His movies, talk show guest, etc) No problems.
Because it is all digitally stored on a hard drive, you can watch the shows that still recording, you can pause, rewind, and fast forward commercials, etc. (too many to list)
The only question when you do get a Tivo is why you didn't get it sooner.
If they want to keep the ReplayTV name, what's to stop them from putting the D&M quality worksmanship into it, and develope that name brand?
Of course they can also have a two tier system of Replay boxes and D&M boxes to differentiate the brand. Personally, I don't think that would be wise as there is already alot of confusion within the PVR market/features.
There's got to be a reason other than money to warrant shutting down the entire 3000+ company for 3 days and rebuild. If that was true, the guy that made the call had balls.
This show was probably the worst "SF" show I ever seen. There is virtually no character development at all, after watching a few episode, I didn't feel for any of the characters. Instead it made me hate them more. Lame setting, dry and dull characters and combine that with terrible chemistry, I am surprised FOX gave it so long.
My guess was that there was too much pressure for it to do good because it was a Josh Weldon show, and the pressure got to all of them.
Currently the show "John Doe" that follows is a much better show, and gets better ratings than this "lead-in" show. So the moral is: you don't have to be a SF junkie or a TV critic to know that this shows sucks.
Oh come on! Ever wonder why most of those cops shows mostly show cops catching the bad guys!? Oh? I guess you didn't know. It's got some ratings, so maybe people are stupid enough to be watching that brainwashing crap.
Oh and what happens when someone does actually catch the real cops in action? Remember the police beating a black kid in LA about a month ago? They threw the guy that recorded the scene in jail. And the cop will probably walk.
I'll see your "product placement" and raise you trash that is labeled as "art".
I give you Punch-Drunk Love.
I was doing this stuff in the early 80's.
I even replaced platters on 10 gig drives..
Yup, nothing to see here. It be news if he cooked up a homemade circuit board.

You think 120 reviews is bad. Just imagine how many screen shots/benchmark-bar-graphs they have combined...
If only I had the mod points... Nice.
There is only one industry that is on the up while everything has been down for the past couple of years.
I suspect this same industry is/will also be driving these cell networks.
You guessed it, it's the p0rn.
Guide to be a money lauderer:
Step 1: Print bills with inkjet.
Step 2: Put them inside washing machines to give them that old feel.
Step 3: Profit!
I am pretty sure you are going to have to think up a different step 2 for those inkjet printed bills.

Update your BIOS, newer motherboards have USB boot options now.
A shame really. Mod the parent up.

Technically, it is their business now.

Nice link. Thanks.
I think you will be surprised at how well Opera can handle those two portals now.
The only thing I am missing with Outlook web access is the search function.
I suppose they might as well put slashdot as the source of the news.

Fact: This .org is selling a 40GB Hard Drive with linux for $250.
Great for the ambitious linux newbie who also has a lot of money to burn.
How many of these people do you know exists that will be able to support this model? 5 years, one year, one month, one week?
You should see the Iomega "Clik" drives that are sitting on the shelves...
Even though the man power will come in handy.
Have we not learned that man power/hours != quality.
Just look at Microsoft.
