Honestly in most scenarios where both servers get wiped out, data recovery is probably low on the list of problems.
I don't know, maybe one of your Windows VM catches a ransomware, it encrypts your network drive (which is basically your entire RAID), and before you notice all the encrypted files are backed up over the clean ones. Your backup is now useless, unless incremental.
Oh yeah ? From reading the summary, it sounds like a scam. But I'd really like to know on what principles this 'security driver' is based on. BTW, the title I used means that you are going to be torn to shreds in french. An aptly chosen name for a company with such claims !
Genuine question here: I've been using Linux for most things for the past 15 years. For exactly 3 programs I still need Windows, so I run XP in a virtual machine. But I've been warned that the next versions of my progs won't support XP anymore, so I'll have to jump to Win10. Since I don't give a shit about any of the 'advancements' that have occured since then, how can I remove all the gimmicks and simplify the Windows user interface to make it like XP, simply ? Is there some Win10 to XP converter to keep me from trudging through endless options and shitty tweaking downloads ?
You have to read The Postmortal by Drew Magary, a SF book which brings up most of those points after the invention of a simple drug that simply stops ageing. With huge societal consequences.
Oh yeah, like the 'miracle' cure for hepatitis C recently invented, which cures 99% of patients who were previously incurable ? In my country it's priced at 60k$ per patient, as a surefire way to bankrupt the healhcare system. It wouldn't even surprise me if the pill cost 1$ to manufacture. It's not like there are alternatives.
Yes, and if you want examples of low voltage DC, you can look at the RV industry. Having recently bought a tiny RV wired in 12V, I saw how difficult it is to find, not equipment, but quality equipment for it. Power devices like hair dryer, vacuum cleaner, etc, simply don't work well. Not enough power.
"Real Programmers don't play tennis, or any sport that requires you to change clothes. Mountain climbing is OK, and real programmers always wear their climbing boots to work in case a mountain should suddenly spring up in the middle of a machine room." -- Real programmers don't write specs
Ahem, so, do you climb in those parts ? I'm not very far...
Yup, the 'Dent du Geant' is also proeminently visible. I soloed that thing years ago. And climbed many other features in the area, including the Freney pillar on Mt Blanc, partly visible here below the summit.
C'est le Refuge des Cosmiques, my friend. Some kind of super hotel where guides can take a shower on their way to dragging their clients up Mt Blanc. It's been reconstructed (poorly) recently.
With all this recent drone paranoia, it's only a matter of time before some bozo comes up with a tiny laser system mounted on an accoustic/optical detector combination that shoots them out of the sky, or at least fries their cameras. Hell, you can purchase 4W laser 'pens' over the Internet. The rest is not that hard to do if safety is not a requirement !!!
Yeah, and I'm one of the victims. Sleep mode wakes to a black screen. Some windows (kate, konsole...) don't reopen in new sessions; all others reopen on the 1st desktop. 'flat' icon styles are not distinctive enough (all grey). If you use the ATI driver there's no more console and you can't unlock the screen... and more. It's usable, but those things are annoying and unpolished. Particularly after years of very smooth Kubuntu upgrades.
Thanks, yes something like that. But the comments on amazon are abysmal ! And they talk about iTunes which I don't use and they don't say if you can load it in Mass Storage mode or mtp or what ?
In your teens and early 20's you're partying hard with friends, getting laid, and making lots of good memories.
Whoah, we must be living on different planets. In my teens I had zits, I couldn't talk to a girl to save my life, parents and teachers kept telling me I sucked, I had no money, no transportation and I could never do anything I would have wanted to (too dangerous, too expensive, too far, etc). Maybe it's the reason why I still seek new bands in my 40s... (scandinavian metal rules!)
Well, as might as well asked this here: I'm looking for a very simple mp3 player for a small kid. Only requirements are: no more than a few (real) buttons (play, stop, next), and an integrated speaker. There used to be walkmen with speakers, but I've been unable to find a small mp3 player with one (or they are full on boomboxes).
Same here. I've long wondered why climbing is so chock-full of intellectuals (somewhat less so in the US than in Europe, lots of dirtbags without a job in the former). Most climbers are engineers, researchers, etc... It's certainly not because of money because once you have harness, shoes and rope you are pretty much set for the next few years. Maybe because it's one of the few sports where you can stop and think for as long as you want (or rather as long as your arms can hold).
Good summary here. RIP.

Guy at work used his laptop as a holder for his wobbly wardrobe. With the expected result. He's now... cough, cough... the director of the workplace.

There's no lack of women in nudist camps...
Sodar, not sonar.

Does the thruster operate only in a vacuum ?
Why is the thruster off-center on that thing ? How can it work ?!?

Did you miss the part about them being something like 20 orders of magnitude less energetic...?
Yeah, but it doesn't say how we are supposed to build a cosmological neutrino detector...

Sounds like you need to try rock climbing. The one on lead trad (placing protection yourself), not the kind on plastic you can do at the gym.

Nope. Various studies show that religions declined AFTER the black plague. Angry at god for having sent it maybe ?
