I've met/know a few people who *worked* for Google but quit because they weren't happy. Yes, they enjoyed the food and other perks, but that didn't make the actual work (when ever they did it) any better for them. My current counterpart at Adobe is one of them and he is enjoying himself quite a bit more now than he was when working for Google.
The very fact that Best Buy doesn't preorder is why these guys are out there. For stores like best buy, its first come and first serve on launch day. And chances are, given the supply of PS3s that are going to be available, a Best Buy may only have 4 units available - that number has nothing to do with preorders, but the simple fact that Sony was able to only produce about 12 or so units for launch.
You might have a better chance with the Wii simply because Nintendo is better prepared and will have a lot more units available. However, people at my work are already talking about looking up available units online and camping out for sunday. I suggest you get there early.
Further proof: http://www.imdb.com/boxoffice/alltimegross - just look at where the recent Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest is, about to take the 6th spot from the popular Spider man in All-Time (US) Box Office movies. Arrrrrg those pirates!
I completely agree with kira. I own the SG-1 DVDs seasons 1-7, which I think are great and completely re-watchable (in dvd viewings, I'm on my 4th run through them all). I also have the Firefly DVDs which I've watched too many times to count... AND I have (the new) Battlestar Galactica DVDs; season 1 and 2.0 with 2.5 preordered. These (plus the entire ST:NG set) represent my entire SciFi TV DVD collection. Though SG-1 seem to be a little lower in "quality" compared to FF and BS, they're a good buy and I still enjoy watching them (not to mention they're pretty cheap in terms of SciFi DVDs).
These innovations you speak of are exactly what science fiction writers have been able to conceive without the technology to reproduce it. They were unbound by technological restrictions and thereby able to innovate before it was possible to create. So ideally, we should strive to achieve what has already been conceived.
23... 45? Are digits in sequential order more appealing? I tell you what, if it was 23.99, I sure's hell wouldn't buy them! Now, however... (ok, no, I'm still not buying them).
...I think it lends itself more to Nintendo where Revolution's development has not changed much since GNC, nor has power (much). Instead innovation is being made in other arenas that allow for a change, but not necessarily changes that increase complexity (or ability to develop for).
Its not about how hard it is, its about how long it takes. and the inconvenience of doing so (plus shutting down) for information which would be much more easily obtained by looking at the side of your closed, turned off laptop.
So you're suggesting to Nintendo that they dump some of the most successful franchises in gaming history and just... move on? Maybe Coke should stop making Coke. I've been drinking that crap for over 20 years! NO MORE!!!
You stupid gamers. Why do you expect so much? The game which has been capturing most of my attention these past few weeks has been Alien Hominid - and not the main game, the mini game. Thats right, stick figures jumping around on a little, limited tile-based map. Why has this captured my attention? Not the graphics (though it is funny to watch those little guys explode), not the voice acting, and not the cinematics. Its the simple fact that I can play with 4 people at a time and can make my own maps. Its concept and implementation that together create a great gameplay experience.
Meh. It's been going downhill since season 3.

Macromedia? Hmm, no such company exists so it might be hard to give them money.

Sorry, this is Slashdot, it had to be done.
You'll have to rely on word of mouth as well, for what it's worth. And for that matter, hope that /. picks up the story.
/. is using IE.
Oh wait, I guess that last part doesn't really count since no one reading
Considering that this site is #2 in a google for windows longhorn (second only to MS itself), I imagine many.
