  2. Food != Best Place To Work on Google Tops 100 Best Places To Work · · Score: 1

I've met/know a few people who *worked* for Google but quit because they weren't happy. Yes, they enjoyed the food and other perks, but that didn't make the actual work (when ever they did it) any better for them. My current counterpart at Adobe is one of them and he is enjoying himself quite a bit more now than he was when working for Google.

  3. Re:BestBuy doesn't Preorder on PS3 Lines Already Forming In America · · Score: 1

The very fact that Best Buy doesn't preorder is why these guys are out there. For stores like best buy, its first come and first serve on launch day. And chances are, given the supply of PS3s that are going to be available, a Best Buy may only have 4 units available - that number has nothing to do with preorders, but the simple fact that Sony was able to only produce about 12 or so units for launch.

You might have a better chance with the Wii simply because Nintendo is better prepared and will have a lot more units available. However, people at my work are already talking about looking up available units online and camping out for sunday. I suggest you get there early.

I completely agree with kira. I own the SG-1 DVDs seasons 1-7, which I think are great and completely re-watchable (in dvd viewings, I'm on my 4th run through them all). I also have the Firefly DVDs which I've watched too many times to count... AND I have (the new) Battlestar Galactica DVDs; season 1 and 2.0 with 2.5 preordered. These (plus the entire ST:NG set) represent my entire SciFi TV DVD collection. Though SG-1 seem to be a little lower in "quality" compared to FF and BS, they're a good buy and I still enjoy watching them (not to mention they're pretty cheap in terms of SciFi DVDs).

These innovations you speak of are exactly what science fiction writers have been able to conceive without the technology to reproduce it. They were unbound by technological restrictions and thereby able to innovate before it was possible to create. So ideally, we should strive to achieve what has already been conceived.

You stupid gamers. Why do you expect so much? The game which has been capturing most of my attention these past few weeks has been Alien Hominid - and not the main game, the mini game. Thats right, stick figures jumping around on a little, limited tile-based map. Why has this captured my attention? Not the graphics (though it is funny to watch those little guys explode), not the voice acting, and not the cinematics. Its the simple fact that I can play with 4 people at a time and can make my own maps. Its concept and implementation that together create a great gameplay experience.
