As someone who has been to E3 I can agree to many things on the list.
Except getting rid of the booth babes.
Yes, the music is FAR, FAR to loud. Iv'e been to concerts with lower volume. It is absoultely insane how loud some booths go (I'm looking at you Capcom and EA). There needs to be some kind of noise limit.
Crowds. I don't know if a larger venue exists, but E3 needs it, or they need to split the show up somehow. Being completly unable to move for as long as 10 minutes due to a crowd jam is rediculous.
Food. I know it's a trade show and everyone is meant to be rich but charging $12 for 1 can of soda and a sandwich that consists of A)2 slices of bread from Safeway and b)somthing that may be Tuna is a bit much.
Parking. Either: a) Park near the convention for $25 - $30 or b) park for only $5 further out, but bring your hiking gear. You may also want to hire someone to guard your car.
I'm sure if I was bored enough i could come up with more. E3 is still fun, but it seems like each year these problems have been getting worse. I honestly don't know if I will go next year due to crowds and noise level alone. It is that bad.
Iv'e tried SuSE and other Linux distro's before, but I keep running into what is (for me) a major problem.
Multi monitor support. Specifically, 2 monitors (a 17" LCD and an 19" LCD), both being driven from my nVidia 6800. In Windows, it works perfectly. I can drag my mouse/apps between both screens, and can maximise apps to one screen or the other (apps recognise that there are in fact 2 screens, and not one really wide one), and apps remember which window they were opened on previously and default back to that window.
Is this possible to do in Linux w/o a major headache?/love 2 monitor's, can't go back
OK, i'll bite this troll.
Ever consider that maybe some people (even geeks!)
might actually be interested in the 360?
I mean, the hardware seems nice and the launch games look good to me. Though a lot has been made of the price, $400 doesn't seem bad to me, since I usually import consoles at much higher prices than that. Is it 'retarded' because YOU say so? You don't speak for everyone, and it's difficult to deny the original XBox did better than most had predicted (including myself).
Drop the conspiracy, i'm sure MS has better things to do with thier time than karma bomb slashdot, unless you have some kind of proof, I would stop talking out of your rear.
I guess my point is, the fanboy'ism on all sides it out of hand. Why do people need to defend consumer products so vigorously? Buy whatever you like, but there is no need to publically belittle anyone who thinks differently/

News for ya, if you use a NES emu on the GBA or DS, your just as much of a thief. Nintendo won't care what hardware your running it on, only that you stole the ROM.
I can't speak for the n-gage, but as far as the GBA, SNES emulation is sss-lll-oo---wwwww
Im talking 1/2 speed on basic games, and forget sound, not to mention on the GBA you are missing 2 buttons. Also, due to the resolution of the GBA screen you lose a decent amount of the image to cropping, making some games even less playable then they already were due to the speed and button issues.
SNES emulation on PSP when run in 333MHz mode is essentially full speed (50 - 60fps) with sound at the moment. And those *minor* fps issues will likely be gone wit some optimising. And the screen resolution is higher than the SNES, and it features the needed buttons for input.
The "hype" isn't because it's a Sony handheld. The hype is because it has the specifications needeed to run these emulators decently.
And you sir should give Galuthuzar a chance. He created the earth out of the intestine of the Great Sinless Goat 150 years ago. My Grandpa said so, and if you don't believe you'll be thrown into the great Walrus' pit, where you will be gorged for eternity!
But don't worry, the sinless goat will return one day, and shepard it's children into the great valley where we will know only the finest grass for eating.
I agree with you though, that only basic evolution has occured since then. I mean, anyone who looks for logical evidence and who believes that in this INCREDIBLY INSANELY HUGE world there is life outside this earth is surely a nut job.
OK, that little useless thing on your foot commonly referred to as "the pinky toe" has to go. Other than ramming it into doors and such (causing great pain on colorful metaphors) I have found no practical use for it, so, according to Darwin. It has to go.
And hopefully the creationists stay out of this one, lets leave the flame wars to Fark.
Erm, last time I checked Mars had an atmosphere. Granted I haven't checked in a few years and I was pretty drunk at the time.....but i'm fairly certain it didn't go anywhere.
I'm no scientist, but it doesn't seem that hard to me. Why not an object with an atmosphere = planet? If somthing orbits that planet and also has an atmosphere, lets call it a sub-{planet}. No atmosphere? if it orbits a 'planet' then call it a 'moon'. if it orbits nothing call it target practice.
I don't see why this was modded funny. I have several German friends who are quite sensitive to the subject of WWII. They hate Hitler and Nazi's just as much as anyone else. To jest that they would invade Poland out of boredom or ressurect the 3rd reich isn't just in bad taste, it's plain wrong.
Perhaps if we ('we' in my particualr case being the US) didn't have slashdot we would be incarerating Japanese born US citizens, or hosing down black civil rights protesters! Funny, no? Didn't think so.
Back in my day, our portables ran off 4 AA batteries, and ran for 45 minutes! And no fancy polygons, no sir, we had black and yellow sprites! And the dot matrix screen even had a motion blur feature! And we liked it! We used to carry it to school, up hill in the snow both ways, and they were heavy mind you! Of course, color had yet to be invented in those days....
It has a rechargeable battery and an AC adaptor? It's not like your going to be buying AA's every day or somthing.
Sony did state the 'minimum' life to be 2 hours, which one would assume to be somthing that had constant disc access and GPU access (movie?). And on the high end, 10 hours.
Oh, and c'mon, we're all geeks here, 99% of the time we're no more than 5 feet from an electric outlet, and the rest of the time we are in a car, so put down the $10 for an car adaptor;-)
And don't give me the whole 'it's portable I shouldn't have to use a power supply argument' as I see people playing their GBA's and GBA SP's plugged into the wall quite often, and they have signifigantly larger battery times.
And the DS is also said to have a 10 hour max battery life which is right in line with the PSP. Sure its not powering an optical drive or as fast a cpu, but 2 screens eat up power pretty well too;-)
I think both systems will do just fine, as Sony will have people buying it who dont want to be associated with a 'kiddie' system as well as releasing ports of popular PS2 games like GranTurismo and Grand Theft Auto, and Nintendo will make a ton of cash the second they release mario/zelda/pokemon.
There is enough room in the world for 2 handhelds;p

Nice troll.
Actually, not.
Though you would be glad if we did, wouldn't you?
But it's not going to happen, so you better get used to the idea.
We suck, you can't do anything about it, and we can still kick your ass. So neener.

Ghey.
