Pulp classic that originated in Japan and became a hit movie and graphic novel. It has recently been translated to English and I just picked it up. I was able to read through it very quickly. It's very entertaining.
My quick review would be: Brutal teen novel with hackneyed romantic undercurrents but overall very unique and interesting.
At Oregon State University transparent transistors have been developed. I think it would be very cool to see these two innovations combined to produce a completely transparent computing device.
Never been a huge fan of McGuire. Jake Gyllenhaal is a much superior actor and also a little darker and more interesting. I'm probably in the minority and Jake doesn't fit with pop culture like McGuire does but it would have been cool.
Anyone ever see Donnie Darko??? That's about all you need to say about Jake Gyllenhaal.
Besides the fact that it runs in the family Maggie Gyllenhaal was amazing in Secretary.
This gives me a great idea. Just like RIAA/MPAA is flooding p2p networks with fake files we could flood their search methods with fake files.
If every internet user with a webpage hosted 2-3 blank mp3 files with names like "BritneySpears-Baby.mp3", etc... The time it would take RIAA/MPAA to find all of them and verify them as blank would flood their capabilities.
There are some excellent radio stations out there that aren't top40. I would especially like to capture live internet streams of stations like KEXP (http://www.kexp.org).
I have to disagree. Fast Food is NOT a cheap way to eat. I have a roommate that only eats fast food and it costs him approximately $15-20 a day to eat. I on the other hand make all my food. I eat granola, apples, bananas, lentil soup, stir-fry, etc... I spend $150 a month on this diet that is very healthy. The only downside is I have to spend time preparing my meals.
I think you're arguement just says that this kind of tax is a tax on stupidity and laziness which I have no problem with.....
I heard a story here in Oregon on the local news that the Oregon legislator is discussing a tax on fast food. I agree with this kind of tax that same way I agree with taxes on cigarettes and liquor. The state ends up paying for health care for obesity, lung cancer and liver problems.
However, I think that this internet tax does not have the same kind of reasoning. The internet is bringing revenue in for the state and now the state is trying to find a way to make more money.
What I've been looking for?

TiVo Basic
·
· Score: 2, Interesting
I've been looking for a good intro TiVo solution and I also need a DVD player for my Home Entertainment center. The only catch is that I'd like to be able to access the Hard Drive (in this case 80 GB) from my computer. That way I can manipulate video on my computer (burn, etc...) and I can use the 80 GB for a backup device.
Is this possible on this device? If not is there another device that is capable of doing this?
Before this story gets mainstream media coverage the government will shut this project down. They certainly don't want the average citizen to realize that a large portion of the US $1,000,000 price tag for a Cruise Missle is probably wasted.
My experience in contacting my local representative. I'm impressed doesn't appear to be a form letter!

I am fully supportive of the bill, and as a member of the committee (General Government) assigned the bill, I am working with the proponents and a few other legislators to move this bill.
We had a very successful hearing on it that attracted a great deal of opposition from some of the big high-tech lobbyists. They turned out in force and are now trying to prevent those of us on the committee who support it from bringing it up for a work session. Unfortunately on their side, the lobbyists have the committee chair, most committee members of the majority party (Republicans), and a few influential members of the House leadership. The fact that the bill has so much muscle against it means we are giving them a fight they did not expect to face!
Thanks for contacting me about this. If you have not already, please feel free to send your email to other legislators as well.
Sincerely,

Dear Representative Kelley Wirth:
I'm very disappointed to hear that House Bill 2892 is being stalled because large corporations fear it's implications. Open Source software should be consider equally along with other costly software! If the Open Source software is more cost effective and achieves the same purpose it should be used in Oregon government applications. This would be a perfect oppurtunity for Oregon lawmakers to show their commitment to maximize taxpayers money! Thanks and please consider my thoughts.
Oregon is perfect for outdoor people (i.e. will not draw/. folk) with mountains, desert, valley and coast along with a moderate climate.
The Universities are good and cheap $4K and the Engineering college at Oregon State University is much, much better than average.
But there are many problems including a population that do not want to pay taxes, which has caused almost every single problem existing Oregon to date.

In my case, and to many I know, I download songs and based upon my opinion of them I by entire albums. I don't know why the RIAA hasn't hooked on to the mp3 as a commercial idea yet.
But, I actually have they want to prop up all the terrible artists... don't want to name names, but there are many, many obvious choices.
Makes me proud to be a Oregonian. Wyden has kept championing for YRO across the nation. I think it has to do with very liberal nature of Oregonians. We have legalized euthanasia and marijuana after all. Contact your Senators and get them moving for YRO. Don't say that big business will stop you because in Oregon we have a very high representation of high-tech business. However, this leads to a high number of tech-savvy constituents that influence representation.
Tru dat... they could have ended the episode 20 seconds earlier. Altho, it would be far from perfect, it also wouldn't have been so tragically bad as it occured..:(
I've seen the episode and I can honestly say that SciFi should have left the show with Episode 21 which actually tied up things reasonably well.
This Episode 22 will really piss people off and SciFi will be dealing with very angry fans for a few weeks. Hopefully that anger will lead to constructive results like renewing the show on SciFi or another channel.
Thanks for the link. I sure hope this is a honest Iraqi blogging and not some propaganda front aimed at bloggers.:) I doubt they are that specific however.
Very interesting blog, I've bookmarked and will check frequently along with CNN.COM.
Give me a break! Only Americans ignore copyright regulations?? Citizens of other countries abide by copyright regulations like angels.... Why do I not believe that??
Last time I was in Hong Kong you could buy VCDs every other block on the Kowloon peninsula. Don't even get me started on Eastern Europe.

Who is modding this as interesting? I think it's supposed to be funny. I smell Symantec employees modding this up.

Personally I'm waiting to switch for the release of the PPC 970 to switch from my Windows box to a OSX box.
Can't wait to get away from x86 micro-ops translation to RISC and into the world of straight RISC.
I believe that the point is that a single molecule is emitting light. A light bulb utilizes billions of molecules of tungsten to emit light.
The whole point being that a carbon molecule/nanotube could be the equivalent of a light transistor in the optics world.

I'm glad you have so easily simplified suicide/homicide bombings to everyday news. A sad "sign of the times" that we live in.
I don't know about anyone else but I noticed a fairly noticable slowdown in XP when I installed SP1. I've since uninstalled SP1.
Personally I prefer speed over security.

The reference to "a few weeks" is not important. I was jut referring to the amplication of Farscape fans feelings once they see this episode.
I do not think that Farscape fans will accept the ending of Episode 22...
