Is this really a matter of privacy related to email? or merely a matter of privacy expected between two (or more) friends? Like they say, email is meant to be easily sent along, and forwarded to many, this is one of it's MAJOR improvements over standard letter writting (ie by hand w/ paper) I agree it sucks for her, but the complaining about email being bad, isn't the problem here. It seems more like the problem is in her friends lack of discretion and her choice to use e-mail and assume it wouldn't get out.
If you put something in electronic format, and assume it won't get out sooner or later, you'r either a fool or damn good at security
Thank you FCC! I mean really, wo didn't see this one coming? They're going to squeeze every last nickel, dime, and quearter out of us, before they decide to innovate.
I purchased the last dune series on dvd, as I wasn't able to catch it on tv. I've read the books, and watched the lynch film, and I have to say I thought the SciFi series was atrocious! I refuse to watch the dvd again. The story itself (ie the adaptation) wasn't bad, but the quality of the show itself was terrible. I mean how many times are you going to use the same set backdrop? I don't know, troll me if you must, but I HOPE SciFi does a better job (ie spend more on it) this time around.
Dark matter is just the term for matter that we can't detect.
Actually this is incorrect. Dark matter can be detected, just not in the way we are accustomed to thinking about. We know it's there due to the effect of gravity. We cannot "see" it because it is neither emitting light, or reflecting light. Why is a damn good question, but if it was truly undetectable, why would we be worrying about it to begin with?
Does anyone else find that so called scientists that dismiss something new out of hand aren't really worthy of being called scientists?
As someone who works in science I have to say I find reading some of the "fringe" papers quite interesting, however, I also usually find them very low on evidence...
there's a saying: Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. If they want me to believe/follow/undertake research in their claims, they damn well better have really good evidence to back it up.
Mr. Shatner. Can I call ya Will? In either case my question is relatively simple. You've been acting for many years in many different rolls. you've become something of a cultural icon for many people (alot of geeks). My question is what kind of a legacy would you like to leave? Many will argue and place on you different ones, but when you finally leave the public spotlight, in what way would you like to be remembered?
well, the corporation's goal is money and power where as, as far as I can tell, the gov't's goal is just power, so for a corporation owned government, as soon as we're no longer profitable, we'll be gotten rid of.
please people, M$ has been breaking the law for years and using sleazy tactics since the beginning. why do we think they will all of a sudden change when the fed tell's 'em to.
Heck, w/ how much the fed. gov't uses windows and Office products, M$ could probably shut the gov't down in seconds if they chose.
It may pay off now, but how much is it going to pay off when they've created so much ill will in the community that's now finally seeping into the general public and their own artists! I'll tell ya what, It sure ain't gonna pay off when I refuse to buy any more of their sh*tty music
indeed, they did eliminate some of the operators, however, it made the working environment hell for the ones who stayed as their total amount of time for each call decreased, and the stress level rose. Now for instance they have to be familiar not just with the local areas, but areas the size of 8 states.
exactly. My parents work for a phone company as 411 operators, and a while back they tried going to the automated system. Big suprise, how many times do you call 411 and instead of the computer finishing everything, an operator clicks over and does it. Why? because whenever people are the source of input, etc. No automated system will EVER be able to deal w/ all of the problems that crop up.
The human management element will NEVER be able to be completely removed, I'm sorry, it just won't happen.
So, I haven't run into this problem yet (hopefully never will) but if I do and require surgery, what kind of effect will this have on the overall strength of my wrists? I rock climb and lift weights on a regular basis. In both of those, I need strong forearms and strong wrists, is cutting the tendons in there holding everything together going to negatively affect my other pursuits?
Also, just a comment for those who haven't developed it yet, I suggest start working the muscles in your arms and forearms. Strengthen your fingers. I don't know if it helps, but I know every programmer I climb with, has not had any problems w/ carpal tunnel.

c'mon, are you kidding? Canada has warships?!?!?!
whats truly disturbing is that in the past I would have modded this +1 funny, but I think it's current mod speaks volumes.

3. Invest in a US congressman.
4. let them pass laws that guarantee you profit.
YOU GET FIRED!
No Nobel for you, now go sit down.

Should be:Many market traders had degrees in Astrophysics.
Turned out astrophysicists were rather unsuited to the world of Market trading...
