I liked Val Kilmer as Batman; sure he wasn't exactly perfect for the role but after two dark movies, things needed a little lightening up. If they had gone back to the darkness with Val Kilmer it would have worked but alas they decided to go all the way camp with George Clooney.
It gets worse. I got a quote for a basic, low end Fuel: 600 Mhz, 1 Gig of RAM, 19 GB HD plus 19" SGI LCD screen: $10,000. Are they nuts? I have seen Fuels on Ebay for 1/10 that. I love my O2 and Irix but c'mon SGI!
So instead of letting MS embrace an open standard they may want to stop it because MS is a monopoly? That doesn't make sense unless Adobe is afraid MS will embrace and EXTEND the spec in ways that break the open standard and cost Adobe $$$.
Apple did this with iWeb (as part of their iLife suite) and it is a neat thing; just type and upload. The HTML is isn't awesome, either, but it has potentional.
The only exceptions were the manual checks and corrections needed to work around the absence of direct four-color management in the GIMP
Welcome to the world of a fustrated GIMP user. How long has this been a "must have" feature that hasn't happened?
I agree. Its getting there and being subjected to both ads and previews that gets me. I dont mind previews but the ads are insane. Thats what turns me off. I'll tolerate it all for a movie I really want to see but if it is a movie that only slightly interests me, forget it, I'll wait for the DVD.
The Eniac was a team effort; my grandfather was in the team that helped solve the math of the beast; not just computation but also thing like making sure the Eniac didn't need the power of a small city to work.
When he died, we found some of his notes about the Eniac in old notebook which we donated to the Smithsonian.
Looks like the Mac OS X port needs some updating. It still requires a UFS disk image, even though HFS+ can be made case sensitive and the instructions are only updated to Mac OS X 10.2 (!). Someone needs to update the port install process and test it on newer systems.
You the brown seems to get people stirred up for some reason. I don't like it personally but it's not rocket science to change and it does make the distro distinctive, which these days, is something unique.
You are right. I have said before I think the move to the Intel platform will be the end of the Mac as a distinctive platform. Why port your app when it will run at near native speed in a Mac version of VMWare, or via WINE? Now comes this. I hate to be a downer but that's my fear.
There has been no observable evidence, only inferences. There actually isn't what shred of evidence Dark Matter exists. Much like the fabled Graviton, we thinks its there but no one has proved it.
I would define it thus: An object is a planet if it has enough gravity to form into a sphere but not large enough to ever had fusion start in its interior and has cleared its orbit of debris left over from its formation. This would allow Pluto to remain a planet, as well as "promote" Sedna to planet stus but rule out Ceres.
Tough call - DRM is coming (Or is already here), one way or another, and is better to work on creating something done right, or to object to it on moral grounds?
Do both, that way if you can't get what you want, at least you'll have some control of it.

Microsoft, cry me a river, build a bridge and get over it!
This release also sees official support for Irix restored. It had been been built for Irix but unsupported
Caldera was my first Linux, with a cutting edge installer you could play Tetris in while the game installed. Kde 1.1, Netscape 4. It was all good.
Then came the dark times, then came the Empire!

I thought it was a fine tribute to a great artist. The estate should be honored.
KWord is an excellent FrameMaker replacement...OO.o isn't.

Has anyone thought to code an extension like Gaim for Firefox? You could call it Aimzilla or something silly like that.

Where all the Best Buy rebates go, no wonder Best Buy is going to a different system: We're onto them!!

To get a non MS operating system from any major computer vendor and see a monopoly in action.
I like Sparkpod

Clean, simple, $25.year

A good idea would be to encourage, nay, preinstall open source software on all computers you sell, including desktops.

Why not FireFox instead?
Nope. It has heat generated from within from contraction; it's nowhere near massive enough for fusion (about 13 jupiter masses needed, minimum).
