The GPL affects source code, not output files. If they use an existing OGG file and then encrypt it and slap on a header they've "wrapped" the file without touching the source code.

Thank you, Sloppy. The part about the stack growing downward was key to understanding the buffer overflow. Thanks also, of course, to everyone else who replied.
Thanks for your insightful in-joke about CPU registers, but I think we're all here to actually learn, or at least I am. Would you care to actually explain what you were talking about a little more, or are you just a troll? It probably hasn't been implemented yet because you never explained it. Ideas don't come to fruition by being carried around in your head.
Thanks to Boatboy for the explanation of buffer overflows, but what I've never understood about buffer overflows is how it allows you to execute arbitrary code? Can anyone explain?
A technology prediction that predicts that the radical changes in human interaction previously predicted won't happen overnight. Non-senationalist predictions of the future? Wow. Irony would be if there was suddenly a major breakthrough in speech recognition and he's wrong.
I used to work at a county teaching hospital. They had a really ancient, parts-a-muffin, mixed-topology network. Each department had its own separate, incompatible system. These systems were chosen by the department heads, not the IT staff. They then had to use Siemens OPENLink to tie them all together. They had downtimes all of the time. So all the staff was prepared for downtime procedures, because they had to use them once or twice a week, at least for the four months I worked there. So maybe a less reliable network is in order?
My educated guess would be that the PUC also oversees broadband as a "telecom" utility. I know they do oversee other public utilities I did not mention, such as your local water works. I suggest Googling for the PUC for your particular state, and start asking them questions. For instance, the MNPUC site has a complaint page where you can get more info, but you must file a complaint with the PUC in the state you live in.
The PUC is your best friend. I have a friend that had a subscription with T-Mobile. Their service was horrible and customer service was always jerking him around and billing was charging him for hundreds of text messages he never used. I kept telling him to threaten them with calling the PUC. One day he did it. They immediate dropped all the false charges and kissed his ass.
Each state has it's own PUC, for instance, this is Minnesota's. As you can see, they control telecom, electric, and gas. PUC really is your friend. For instance, PUC is responsible for penalizing Qwest for anti-competitive business practices.
Wel I went to public school and look at me im a helpless retard so maybe i should have gone to home school that sounds like fun cause then i could be home cause thats where the oreos are
This isn't about your right to not have information recorded about your library habits or web surfing habits. That information always was recorded and always was available by court order. At issue is whether or not you don't have a right to know that this information is being scrutinized. In an extreme case, not knowing this information means the government can carelessly scrutinize anyone and everyone without repercussion.
A lot of foreign import (esp. Chinese) power supplies have the UL label on them but never actually got the UL listing. As usual, the Chinese feel free to do this because it's not against the law in their country to illegaly affix this label to their equipment. If you find that a faulty power supply is falsely labeled as UL listed you can, however, go after the store that sold you the illegal power supply (it becomes illegal when it crosses the border).
That is not correct. You can install PPTP on NT4 without installing RRAS. RRAS just allows you to route through the VPN to create a server-to-server vs. a client-to-server VPN connection.
Maybe if PCs lost the gaming sector to consoles, mom and pop would get e-mail and web browsers for their $200 consoles and forget about PCs. Then we (the hobbyists and other serious PC enthusiasts) could have them back! Some of the commercial hands would get out of the PC cookie jar and those who want to use the PC for something other than gaming and web browsing won't get drowned out by the mass of Joe 6-packs!
Why doesn't Microsoft allow you to download the file once, burn it onto a CD-ROM, and have it forever? Your options are to download it every time you re-install, or pay the fee and most importantly wait for the service pack to arrive. Worse yet, as new updates for Windows appear on Windows Update, old updates disappear after they are "obsolete." Since you could never permanently download them, how will you get, for instance, DRM-free versions of Windows Media once the DRM-only copies are all that's available on Windows Update? Unless you intend to use the old versions that come with Windows and are riddled with security bugs.
Inside the small chamber behind the first door I thought I saw a streak running parallel to the shaft on the right side of the chamber. To the right of it, behind the "Fox" logo, I saw something that may have also been some sort of marking. Can anyone say for sure if these were more markings left by the builders?
Also, now that they can't use the machine they used to find the depth of the first door to find the depth of the second door, since it can't push up against the second door with 40 lbs of force, and their drill bit is probably too short to drill through the second door, anyone have any theories on how they might get through that door? (If it is a door at all)
And in other news today, McDonald's Corporation has announced it will lower the fat content of it's french fries. The multinational corporation has stated that it hopes the lower fat content in American diets will prevent any more large objects from falling under Earth's ever-increasing gravitational pull.
Maybe it would help if Microsoft itself could define what.NET is, rather than running.NET up the flag pole and shooting down whatever nobody salutes. Hailstorm

When you turn it on does it say, "Okama GameSphere?"

So they're going to kill their competition by "whipeing their ass" with extremely "abrasive toilette paper?"
